Help! - Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program.
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Alkalinetrio262's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't have to do a 3 or 6 month diet that some insurance programs require. To prepare for surgery I increased my Water consumption to at least 64 oz a day, weaned myself off of caffeine and carbonation and tried a variety of Protein shakes/samples. -
Drinking and eating at same time- Do you wait 30 minutes?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ab123.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My NUT said that this really only applies to Gastric Bypass. Sleevers still have a pyloric valve which regulates the emptying of the stomach -- we don't wash stomach contents through the "funnel" as those without a pyloric valve will. -
Frustrated and Pissed off!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Essence46's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everyone has a big drop the first week on just about any diet because of the Water weight. You probably lost that in your pre-op diet. This is not a diet. -
Texas Newbie
Inner Surfer Girl replied to LousPeachy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Welcome. I'm in my 50s (that may be the first time I have ever written that statement) and have a higher BMI than you. I was recently sleeved on April 20. Don't assume that based on BMI that you have to go with the bypass. Everyone is different and your surgeon and research should help you decide on the best procedure for you. Best of luck. -
Help! - Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program.
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Alkalinetrio262's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Where can I find the details of this diet? Will my surgeon give me info on it when I meet with him after the Seminar I have to attend? I already know all the risks of having the surgery done thanks to lots of research and know I want to have it done if I can. Thanks, Louise Pre-op diets vary by surgeon/program. Mine was basically Atkins phase 1 (high Protein, very low carb). -
Discouraged/Sad

You may want to consider finding some extra support (counselor, therapy, OA, bariatric support group, etc.) outside of your immediate family. Best of luck. -
"Time of the month" cravings
Inner Surfer Girl replied to aclinton16's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Prior to surgery (sleeve) I would crave liver cheese periodically. It may have something to do with iron levels. I am still on liquids and not very far post surgery so I haven't experienced any cravings yet. -
First day home from Gastric Sleeve surgery! Question about Isopure and protien?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to pampam12's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Is this a duplicate post? Yes, Isopure (the RTD in bottles) is clear -- you can see through it. -
Starting back to school. NERVOUS. Encouragement? Advice?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to une nouvelle vie's topic in The Lounge
Congratulations! It's great to hear you are making progress toward your goal. I don't think you can go wrong with a math refresher if it has been a while since you were in school. You may be surprised by how much you do remember but having a solid math foundation will help with your other course work. -
I was given ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate in the hospital as a clear liquid. Each packet has 15 G protein.

First day home from surgery! Question about Isopure and protien?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to pampam12's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I would count the Isopure as clear liquid (you can see through it). But, if you are in doubt why not double-check with your NUT? -
First week ... Need ideas
Inner Surfer Girl replied to jennalee003's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wasn't allowed yogurt my first week (it is considered full liquids on my plan) but I was allowed: Premier Protein Popsicles Jello ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates ProtiDiet chicken and tomato soups Broth/bouillon -
One week post op protein makes me sick
Inner Surfer Girl replied to KerryRNY04162015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried any of the clear liquid proteins like Isopure. I liked the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. Syntrax Nectar is also another you might try. Even on clear liquids my surgeon allowed the Protdiet chicken and tomato soups -- those saved me from all the sweets. Keep trying. It is so important for healing to get your protein. I didn't try any of the protein shots but I know some folks have had success with them. -
Calories in vs out
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Stephanie Stroup McIntosh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You say you are getting 60-100g Protein. That is a large range. What is your specific goal? Mine is 100 g based on my starting BMI. My understanding of my NUTs instructions and everything I have learned up to now is to only focus on reaching my protein and Water goals. Especially so early out calories are a distraction. Those are the inputs I can and should control. -
Tips to not eat your kids food!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Carriejess's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
On my phone, the topic line read "Tips to Not Eat Your Kids". I was expecting a completely different post! -
Gastric Sleeve and E. Coli :)
Inner Surfer Girl replied to DisforDavid's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I would absolutely do what my Dr. advised. It wouldn't matter if you lost weight if you wound up dead. I didn't have the sleeve to diet. I had the sleeve for my life and health. I hope you are healed and feeling much better soon. -
can i be eating too few calories?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Dwights.vsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would worry more about meeting your protein and water goals than calories. If you don't get enough protein and water you will risk healing and may not lose weight as optimally as you would with enough protein. -
One week post-op
Inner Surfer Girl replied to tanya131313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When on clear liquid I used a lot of ProtiDiet liquid concentrate. They are 15 G protein per packet and I put them over a little bit of crushed ice to make a slushee. -
Calories at 3 weeks
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Casey235's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to focus on protein and water goals. I am not counting calories. -
Does anyone use clear protein drinks?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to judyoz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was given ProtiDiet liquid concentrate in the hospital. There are a variety flavors and also have 15g protein per packet. -
Dizzy spells 2 weeks out
Inner Surfer Girl replied to KerryRNY04162015's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Do you take blood pressure medicine? I was advised to see my PCP within my first month post-op because my meds (like for blood pressure) made need to be adjusted. -
Protein
Inner Surfer Girl replied to funkecoldmedina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are many Protein supplements available. This site has lots of advice and recipes. You won't know what you like best until you try them (and your tastes may change after surgery). In addition to Premier, I like GNC Lean 25 as a Meal Replacement and Syntrax nectar. You can order a sample pack of flavor varieties directly from the manufacturer and from some online bariatric shops. You can sample the GMC Lean 25 at GNC stores. Right after surgery (in the hospital and when I came home) I got a lot of my protein from ProtiDiet's liquid beverage concentrates. Have fun sampling and researching. -
I love greek food and tsatziki sauce.

For those of you who get massages or any masseuses out there. What is the upper weight limit for most standard massage tables? I was recently sleeved and am looking forward to getting a massage. I am trying to figure out a reasonable weight goal for a comfortable massage.
