I was sleeved on April 20 by Dr. Weiss at Georgetown and would love to be a buddy. I live in Danville. How are you doing? My recovery has gone remarkably well. I just started the first phase of the mechanical diet so got to had fish this week. Grilled salmon never tasted so good.

Helping fellow patients...
Inner Surfer Girl replied to angelface811's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could offer a Protein shake sample tasting/fair. Everyone could bring marked baggies of servings of their favorite protein powders and swap. They could also bring copies of their favorite recipes. An open swim event could be fun, especially if you had a sample Water aerobics or other water class. For those who are almost ready or just had surgery and are willing you could have a before-picture photo booth and offer help taking measurements. You could get a photographer and offer headshots for Facebook/LinkedIn. You could have a journaling/meditation/relaxation session. You could have someone teach self-massage and stretching. -

That is why I don't trust any scale unless it's on the moon. -
I can't answer your question because it depends on your protein. Are you reaching your protein and water goals?

First Soft Food?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to debbie813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yogurt and cottage cheese were allowed on my full liquids so my first "soft" food was pintos and cheese from Taco Bell (also my first restaurant food after surgery). I was able to add soft fish this week so my first was grilled salmon. -
Hearing any criticism, especially from family can be devastating. Thinking back on my own experience, all I can suggest is: to be kind, be loving, be genuine, be open, and listen. Look for openings to share your own experience (doubts, fears, struggles, successes) without making it about "fixing your loved-one". For me, getting to the place where I was eager to get the surgery took years and lots of small interactions with various people. The most positive were when me and my difficulties weren't the focus of the conversation. It was about them and their success.

Previous Surgeries preventing WLS
Inner Surfer Girl replied to MarylandCrab's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I don't have personal experience but there was one episode of My 600 Pound Life where someone had so much scar tissue that Dr. Now used the first surgery time to clean up scar tissue and then after that healed he performed WLS. I don't remember which episode it was but I believe it was from this recent season. -

2 1/2 weeks out from surgery. Food ideas please!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ChattyChatterton's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved April 20. In addition to what you listed: protein soup (ProtiDiet), V8, protein pudding, applesauce, green beans, yogurt, refried beans and cheese. This week I get to add soft fish so I had some grilled salmon tonight at a cookout. -
How was your trip? Were you able to get the exercise you wanted? I would love to hear how it worked out.

My journey
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Mrs.Jackson76's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's counter intuitive, but starving yourself is the worst thing you can do. Try going back to basics: get your protein and water everyday. Why not make an appointment with a nutritionist and attend some support group meetings. It's never too late to reach your goals. -
Me, too! I am so happy to get to add tuna to my rotation of yogurt and cottage cheese.

Welcome. I was sleeved April 20 and have learned a great deal from the folks on BariatricPal. I will be starting my first phase of mechanical foods (soft fish, tuna) this coming week.

6 weeks out..how many calories?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to kellmark's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your Protein is liquid then you can count it under your Water total. If you aren't able to get in your protein how were you planning to increase your calorie count (just curious)? Getting in protein and water is my primary focus and it takes me pretty much all day. -
Moving on to Solids!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to wishful_thinking's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started soft foods this week so I have tried Taco Bell pintos and cheese and scrambled egg, in addition to the yogurt and cottage cheese that counted for me under full liquids. After a grocery store run I want to try ricotta bake. I don't add tuna until next week. -

If you reach your protein ad water goals you shouldn't need to worry about calories. Are you reaching those goals daily.
