Self-discovery in preparation for my surgery
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ginabee38's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is great insight. I needed the reminder today! Best of luck with your surgery. -
Without more information it is hard to know what to suggest. Are you tracking your food? Are you getting in all of your Protein and fluids? Are you eating enough? Are you eating too much? Are you exercising? Have you talked to your NUT about your concerns? Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

Gastric Sleeve Experts... Please Chime In!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to lillita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am over a year and a half post-op and if I do eat too much I know. It happens less often as I am learning and listening to my body, but it does happen on occasion. Reminding myself to slow down and eat mindfully really helps. -
I don't but think a good post-op plan would be very helpful for someone with celiacs (high protein, low carb). Definitely work with your NUT to make sure you have a good plan in place.

Do you still vomit a year after surgery
Inner Surfer Girl replied to mari81215's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No. That is not normal. Please talk to your surgeon about this. Is there a physical reason (eating too much, too fast, taking too large bites, not chewing thoroughly enough) or is it habit? This sounds like it could be bulimia. Please, talk to your surgeon. -
Nutrition Pre-op not covered
Inner Surfer Girl replied to NOVAMOM348's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was covered by a one-time fee to the Bariatric practice for lifetime nutrition counseling, etc. -
How does everyone deal with the social pressure to eat while eating out?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Travelher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Do just what you did. Smile and say, "no, thank you." Practice these phrases: "It was delicious." "No, thank you." "Can you bring me a box when you get a chance." "I have had plenty." "Everything is great." "May I have ____ (vegetable, salad, etc.) instead?" It gets easier. -
Halloween fever
Inner Surfer Girl replied to christinah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't plan to. But if I do it will be a small piece. Since I can actually buy clothes off the rack now, I bought a Halloween sweater this year. I have been wearing it all month to get my money's worth since hopefully it will be too big next year! -
Less and less food

How are people staying under 1000 calories?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to rick_ron's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
80 grams protein seems low for an active male. My surgeon's minimum for guys is 100 grams. -
Cake or no cake? Cake substitution?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Boudala's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was when I knew the sleeve was different from dieting; I sat right next to my nephews birthday cake and had NO DESIRE to even taste it. -
Does anyone else plan and celebrate mini goals?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do, but for me, I treat numbers of pounds lost as milestones and not goals. I set goals for things I can control (the inputs: water/fluids, protein, exercise, etc.) and not things I can't control like pounds lost. -
Which surgery?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to amf1025's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon no longer does lapbands either (other than to take them out). -
What Nutrition Fact Did You Learn?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have a much deeper understanding if nutrition now than I ever had pre-op. The biggest thing: Protein, protein, protein, and fluids, fluids, fluids. -
i am going to whine about my stall.
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ella37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are only eating 500-700 calories then you probably aren't eating enough. I HIGHLY recommend that you just stay off the scale until you can reliably get in all of your Protein and fluids and can up your calories. You are still healing from major surgery. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall Interesting. Just out of curiosity, how many calories are you eating daily? I am much further out than you so am eating closer to 1400-1600 with regular exercise. Early out, I was closer to 1200-1400. Personally, until you can get at least 1000 calories, I think it is a good idea to just stay off the scale. Early out, I only weighed at my doctors appointments. The most important thing is to get in all of your protein and fluids. -
What is your Protein target?

Not after surgery, but I have experienced vertigo before. It SUCKS!

Paralyzed and VGS
Inner Surfer Girl replied to laylalayla's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You definitely need more Protein. Did your surgeon or NUT give you a protein target? Mine is 100 grams and my surgeon's basic range is 80-100 grams. Try searching Bariatric Center of Excellence manual to see if you can find some post-op food plans. I am surprised your surgeon didn't give you any post-op guidance. Best of luck with your recovery. -
What wrap are you referring to? Have you talked to your surgeon's office about your concern? That should be your first phone call.

Protein supplements - What is the highest # of protein with the lowest volume to have to drink?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to LittleLizzieLilliput's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are protein shots but don't think they taste very good. Premier Protein gives you a great "bang for your buck", plus you NEED fluids. At 3 weeks out you shouldn't be minimizing fluids. -
