Did everyone have a drain?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Missbliss14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon doesn't use drains. -
How many calories are you getting?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Sara51692's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you like fruit flavored protein you might like ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate and Syntrax Nectar. I also like GNC Lean shake 25 (orange cream and berry flavors). -
Empty hungry feeling
Inner Surfer Girl replied to TheOnlyDuchess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, you can definitely have protein shakes and yogurt. You have more options for your protein than just milk. If you work on getting your protein and fluids in you probably won't be hungry. -

It is a full time job. And, yes any fluids count as fluid. -
How many calories are you getting?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Sara51692's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep in mind when you ask people their calorie ranges that the answer is relative. People with lower Protein goals eat fewer calories than those with higher goals. As I mentioned above, just focus on protein. -
How many calories are you getting?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Sara51692's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you work better with very clear goals then let me share mine. Meet my Protein goal (for me it's 100 grams a day) and get at least 64 oz of Water a day. That is it. When you are on liquids you needn't worry about anything but maximizing your protein. A Protein shake with a higher protein to carb ratio is best because early out just getting your protein and water in is a challenge. Sounds like what your NUT told you, or don't worry about the calories. -
Matzo Ball Soup. Is it safe to eat at 3 months post surgery?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to saucon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would think so. I am allowed just about everything I can tolerate at three months. The matzo balls might expand in your stomach though so I would take it slow. -

Feeling heavy

That is a great tactic. I bet you will be very pleasantly surprised when you are weighed at the doctors. -

Even Boost High Protein has too many carbs and not enough protein. With only 15 grams of protein per serving but over 30 grams of carbs. -

Empty hungry feeling
Inner Surfer Girl replied to TheOnlyDuchess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful with Boost because it has too much sugar/carbs. I am really curious about what your post-op instructions say. Can you pull out your instructions and post them here? My program provided a whole notebook of info that has several pages related to the post-op diet as well as supplemental handouts with more detail from my required classes. I still have a hard time believing you were told just to drink milk with no other guidance. What is your Protein goal? -
Feeling heavy
Inner Surfer Girl replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started feeling "jiggly" the more weight I lost because my fat stores were loosening up and the skin around the fat wasn't as tight. Maybe you are feeling heavier because of the shifting of the weight. -

Sorry to keep quizzing you but it helps to have a full picture when answering a question, especially when it's so general. I see on another post that you are eating refried Beans. Those were allowed when I started in the soft foods stage. If you have already progressed to soft foods then milk should definitely not be your sole Protein source. I suggest you revisit your post-surgery documentation and give your NUT a call. -

Also, why not call your NUT? Since you just had surgery your NUT should be the first person to ask for clarification and tips. -

What about protein supplements/shakes? On full liquids I was allowed those as well as carnation instant no-sugar added. Protein is critical, but unless you supplement milk, it doesn't really have enough protein to be your sole protein source. -

Then why would you feel you have to drink nothing but milk all day to reach your protein goals? Just curious. -
I've never heard of an online sleep study. When I had my sleep study several years ago it consisted of an overnight at the sleep study center.

Empty hungry feeling
Inner Surfer Girl replied to TheOnlyDuchess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are on full liquids you should be drinking something pretty much all day. On full liquids, I was allowed everything from clear liquids plus, protein shakes, soups, yogurt, and cottage cheese. What does you NUT advise? -

Sleep machine
Inner Surfer Girl replied to laneydasilva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you were diagnosed with sleep apnea and prescribed a CPAP machine you have to use it to be approved for surgery. Your surgeon and/or insurance may require that you use it a certain amount of time (weeks/months) before scheduling surgery. Yes, it is easy to sleep with the machine. I sleep quite well with mine. Based on your questions I have to ask: have you already undergone a sleep study? If you were prescribed a CPAP machine have you received training on how to use it and education about sleep apnea? -
Check the OA website (OA.org) for meetings near you. In addition, they list online and telephone meetings of there isn't one near you.

3 Days Post-op----HELP
Inner Surfer Girl replied to marysmom1216's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you feel hungry, drink water. At 3 days out from my sleeve, I was sipping something pretty much all day. Sugar free Popsicles help, too.
