Sandwich Wraps
Inner Surfer Girl replied to RebeccaAR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eventually; if you want to, it agrees with you, you have room for it, and you track it. Sure. -
If it wasn't clear liquids, can you tell me what your pre-op diet was ?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to keddykat75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op was high protein (basically Atkins phase 1). No sugar, no starches. -
Disappointed with weight loss progress

Congratulations! This is so awesome. -
What app are you using to track your weight loss and food?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to dcmoore56's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
MyFitnessPal. -
Camera, bring it or no?

Here are some smart phone photo tips. I'll see what else I can find for you. http://digital-photography-school.com/10-quick-iphone-photography-tips/ You know I am going to want to see your photos after your trip, right? -
Camera, bring it or no?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to LivingLight's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Get an app like Camera plus for your phone that makes it easier to take macros. There are probably others. -
What makes you think you aren't tracking correctly? Are you weighing and measuring your portion sizes? Are you reading labels? 99% of what I have eaten is already in MyFitnessPal. I just have to figure out how much I have eaten. For instance if a serving size is listed as 1 cup and I ate 1/2 a cup, I track that. What are you finding difficult?

@, may I suggest you take swimming lessons? Also, you may want to consider finding a water aerobics class. You don't really need to know how to swim to take water aerobics but you do need to be comfortable in the water. Water exercise is great for those of us with bad knees.

Flying Blind
Inner Surfer Girl replied to SleevePerry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds very reasonable to me. My protein goal is 100 grams of protein and 1200 calories is about where I land most days. Be very careful comparing yourself to others. Someone who is getting 60 grams of protein may very well be getting 600 to 700 calories a day. That doesn't mean that would work for you (or is necessarily the right thing for them). I see way too many people obsessed with the calories. My obsession happens to be protein based on what I have learned from my NUT and surgeon. -
As you guessed, most were able to exercise like that before surgery. Please don't compare yourself with others. We each have our own journey and our own capacity.

I have a target
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ☁️9⃣B????'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I learned a long time ago I cannot control the number of pounds I lose. I only focus on what I CAN control: my water and protein. -
Anyone have trouble with brain fog after surgery?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to dena1258's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I definitely experienced this. It does get better but it is one reason I think it's a good idea for folks to take their time going back to work even if they feel physically ok. -
I eat Mexican food all the time. I started with refried beans in the soft phase. I know some folks have had tortilla soup broth during the liquid phase. Just focus on protein first (eat the insides of a taco, etc).

When your Nutritionist and Surgeon tell you different things
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Ashley1213's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon gave an exception to my NUTs program. He said we could have premier shakes during the clear liquid phase. Clear liquid doesn't mean no protein. Even if you are on strictly clear liquids you still need to get protein. -
I love roasted veggies. I also love the toppings of a salad. I like to make a cottage cheese salad, and put olives and things that I would normally eat on a salad in my cottage cheese.

When can I eat a sandwich?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to cuchas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Inner Surfer Girl i've led a sheltered life what is a deconstructed sandwich?? 134 lbs gone keep up the good job kathy congrats I define a deconstructed sandwich as the insides of a sandwich, usually on a plate or bowl. For instance, I will put sliced turkey, cheese, some dill pickle slice, some spicy mustard and maybe a bit of mayo on a plate. Pop it in the microwave to melt the cheese and eat it with a fork. Or, a tuna packet (ranch flavor is good) with some cheese -- instant tuna melt. It's just the sandwich without the bread. -

I eat deconstructed sandwiches, usually with a fork or as a roll-up. -
Swimming incision question!?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to alindsey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told once mine had completely healed over with no holes which was about 4 weeks for me. -
Yes, but texture is also a huge issue early out. I started cooked veggies during my soft phase but have held off on more fibrous raw vegetables.

Exercise during pre-op diet
Inner Surfer Girl replied to PureDarkness's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT said at least 60 minutes a day. -
I know you can do some yoga from a chair but I won't try it until I am able to get up and down off the floor. Have you considered trying Tai Chi? That is another great exercise that just about anyone of any physical ability can do.

Am I overeating?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to her1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your headaches, dizziness, and hunger may be due to dehydration. I can't wait until I feel thirsty to drink or I would never get in all my fluid. -
Here is a good article that explores the idea of "hanger". http://www.iflscience.com/health-and-medicine/science-hangry-or-why-some-people-get-grumpy-when-they-re-hungry

I am three months out and had about a half a piece of lettuce about a month ago. I am going to try a salad in the near future, it's just not high on my priority list. As to tomatoes, I've been eating raw tomato for a couple of months.
