What Are Your Must-Have Foods?

I had to have our local grocery store order it for me special I order it from drugstore.com. -
2 week post op stall? ????
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Jooj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My advice: work on getting in all your Protein and Water every day and stay off the scale. By the way, "only" losing 2 pounds is not a stall. You will stall throughout the process. Our bodies do not lose weight at a constant rate. The best thing to do is focus on your protein and Fluid goals and trust the process and weigh very infrequently. -
Glad you found a solution. I know how it is to need to pinch pennies, but as someone on these boards noted not long ago, staying hydrated is a lot less expensive than a trip to the emergency room. Please take care of yourself so you can enjoy your vacation.

I know better, but I...
Inner Surfer Girl replied to meyouus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. Pretty strange, isn't it? This from someone who has been STUCK for years. I started at a really high weight. My BMI was literally off the charts. But, most of it is on my lower body. I have a lot of Fluid in my legs. My PA said she would be worried I was losing too fast except that a lot of it is fluid. The weird thing is that my right leg is shrinking faster than my left so I am pretty lopsided. What a weird, strange trip this is. -

Have you talked to your NUT? A counselor or therapist might be able to help you with this issue. -

Or, keep the water bottle next time you buy bottled water and refill it with tap water...

Project Runway, Fashion, and Plus Sizes
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in The Lounge
Can I just say I LOVED the skirt she made: print, length, etc. I carry most of my weight in my hips, butt, and legs and so have a relatively smaller waist. Even at my largest I felt good wearing longer print skirts. I had to find a seamstress to make me skirts because off the rack skirts NEVER hang right. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next. I DID NOT like the idea of a 3 minute foot race up the stairs in Madison Square Garden. It seemed to me like they deliberately chose that to set her up to fail. So glad it didn't work. -
I went to dinner this evening with family visiting from out of town and wound up sitting next to two cousins and a nephew who were second and fourth graders. I found it very interesting that I ate about the same as the second graders (except they filled up on chips, salsa, and queso before the entree and drank real pop). I even still had leftovers to bring home. This post-surgery life really is amazing.

Psych evaluation- how did you find your Doc?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Astrosgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was in-house through the surgeon's office. Have you checked with your insurance company for a referral to someone in network? Does your surgeon's office have someone they recommend? -
Stress/Emotional eating
Inner Surfer Girl replied to rosepose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here are some things you can do to keep your hands busy: Paint your nails Color in a coloring book Clean your toilet Water your plants Make something -- Crochet, knit, or needle work Write a letter Journal Take a walk Organize your closet Clean your sink Take a shower or bath Weed your garden I am sure others have some more ideas for you. One tip I learned in therapy is to make a list of things you can do instead of eating. Put each it on an individual slip of paper. Put the slips in a bag or jar. When you find the urge to eat something that isn't on your plan, draw a piece of paper and do whatever it says. -
impulse buying? sorta?

Do you have access to a YMCA. The Y's I have belonged to have child care available so parents can work out. Just an idea. -
What Are Your Must-Have Foods?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am a cheese lover, too but have noticed I like the lower fat cheeses post-op better than some of the richer ones. I don't restrict my fats but find that I naturally want smaller amounts. Too much and I feel a little woozie. -
Coke Zero pre op diet
Inner Surfer Girl replied to John Michaels's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you really don't like your tap water you might want to consider investing in an RO unit for your drinking water. If you are interested, see if you have a local Culligan dealer. -
Coke Zero pre op diet
Inner Surfer Girl replied to John Michaels's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you haven't yet weaned yourself off of caffeine, then limiting to no more than one a day is a good idea. I weaned myself off of caffeine and carbonation before my pre-op diet gradually. I didn't want to go through caffeine withdrawal post op. -
1st soft meal ..?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to mel14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That early out the fish would have filled me up. I wouldn't have had room for the greens or sweet potatoes. Eat slowly and you will start to be able to tell when you have reached your limit. -
Sunflower seeds week 4 post op?

Definitely check with your NUT. He or she may have a better suggestion. -
How much should I be eating?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to JerseyGirl34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At one week out since you are still on liquids, based on my program, you should be trying to reach your protein and water goal every day. I wouldn't focus on calories. Since my goal is 100 grams, at a week out I was drinking/sipping pretty much all day just to get in all my protein and 64 oz water. -

@@LivingLight, have you had your surgery? If so, how did it go? Did you get a chance to take some photos? Just wanted to see how you are doing. -
Calorie counting and food measuring?!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to jayali's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, both Walmart and Target should have measuring cups, spoons, and scales. -
Due to my size (I have been and still am too large for most exercise equipment) and my joints, I prefer to exercise in the water. Do you have access to a pool? I love water aerobics and it happens to be a great workout.

New girl on the block
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Josho's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome, @Josho. You are in the right place for support. I was sleeved April 20 in the U.S. (Lexington, Kentucky -- the horse capital of the world) and couldn't be happier with my decision, recovery, and progress. It took me a lifetime of being obese and several years of being at the end of my rope to finally decide to have surgery. Once I started considering the surgery I tried to learn as much as I could. Honestly, the worst part of the whole process is where you are right now --- waiting for final approval and a surgery date. Have faith that everything will work out the way it's supposed to, when it's supposed to. -
When I first saw the initial post, I too was confused. My first thought was that this was another post-surgery post while still on anesthesia/pain meds. That is one reason I gave my mom control of my phone until I was no longer loopy. To the OP, I am curious to know what, if anything, you need/want as a response.
