    Too much protein a possibility?

I think it also makes a difference if you are doing a lot of exercise. Let us know what your surgeon says.

    GasX and Post-Op Gas

My surgeon said the same thing. He also said it wouldn't hurt you to use it if it made you feel better. I think for some people it's more a placebo effect.

    Hot spice?

I used siracha during my liquid phase, too. I eat jalapeño, Cajun seasoning, and siracha all the time now, just not in large quantities.

    strange fish question

I've always liked fish but when I started eating cleaner I craved it more. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about whether or not a fish is more or less "fishy" tasting. As long as it is fresh it won't taste as "fishy" as you may think. Cod and tilapia, while ok, really aren't my favorites because they are so mild. I probably put fish in three categories: Tuna and salmon (in cans and pouches) are pretty much staples for me, especially tuna. I love tuna and can eat it plain or can dress it up for tuna salad, etc. I just got a tin of Spanish muscles so if anyone has a suggestion on how to use them I'm all ears. I have considered trying some of the more exotic preserved fishes but am not quite sure what to do with them. Seafood. Like shrimp, scallops, crab, clams, etc. I love seafood grilled. Since I am no longer eating fried fish, I probably won't be eating any clams. Fresh fish (frozen is ok). I love sole, trout, catfish, salmon, tuna, red snapper, etc. Even before I had weight loss surgery, if I went out to a fine dining restaurant, I usually got the fish. Tilapia and cod are ok. I do keep tilapia in the freezer because it is cheap and plentiful. I just make sure to use more herbs and spices. Have fun. Once you find out how delicious it is, you can have fun trying different flavors.

    Bariartic Vitamin Flavors preferred?

My vitamin C is a chewable and has an orange flavor. I get the Bariatric Advantage calcium chews and like the raspberry and lemon but prefer the caramel and chocolate flavors. My B-12 has a cherry flavor. The rest of my vitamins aren't flavored.

    Vision Boards

I am facilitating a vision board workshop this week so I would love to hear about your experiences using this technique related to your weight loss journey. I have been thinking about making one but haven't made it yet. Have you made one? Has it been helpful for you?

    Vision Boards

This sounds great. I like the structure idea. I have been tearing out pictures for a while for my own board. Now I need to just find those and make my own board.

    Too much protein a possibility?

I think you can eat too much Protein but can't tell you how much is too much for you. That would be a question to ask your doctor or your NUT. My protein goal is 100 grams a day (which I treat as a minimum threshold), so don't really sweat it if I get in 120 or so in a day.

So Now What Can I Eat?

Wow, I am so sorry you have to start over figuring out what you can eat. Have you talked with your NUT? That would be the first person I would go to, especially since you have so many restrictions. (Only Paleo, no dairy, no supplements, low fat, etc.) Best of luck.

    Stall advice

What @@Kindle said. Embrace the Stall!
  11. It can be done. I am not saying you can't use supplements, but that you don't necessarily have to. Not everyone has access to Protein shakes and supplements like we do in the U.S.
  12. so the idea is the protein that's it ! i don;t get the 60 per day i now can't handle shakes or even yogurt with high protein i also don't eat Breakfast i only eat once a day i don't want to eat more i even can't handle more than once i so pissed of since the surgery which was on the 27th of july i lost 37 pounds i am so mad of myself don't know what to do You can't possibly do well post-op if you only eat once a day. That is a recipe for disaster. You have to eat breakfast. Even if you don't want to eat you just have to do it. The way I understand my surgeon's instructions, you should consume no more than 20-25 grams of protein at a time. So for me, that means I need to eat at least four to five times a day to reach 100 grams. That can be 3 meals and 2 Snacks.

    Weight loss journey.

The anticipation and uncertainty pre-op was the worst part for me. This was my first surgery ever so I had no idea what the experience would be like.

    Re: Snacks

From what you posted in another thread that you aren't happy with your weight loss and that you aren't getting in your Protein. None of these things have protein.
  18. Welcome to this site. It's a great source of information and inspiration. It has been a great help for me. I was sleeved April 20 of this year. Due to some financing delays, I had plenty of time to learn as much as I could and to prepare, so by the time I had surgery I was ready to get it over with. I have had a complication-free recovery and am very happy with my progress and experience. I consider myself very blessed to have been referred by my PCP to an outstanding surgeon. I have also been blessed to have nothing but positive support from my family and friends. Even if they don't always understand what my life is like, they are supportive. You might want to see if one of your family members would attend some of your pre-op appointments. I was sleeved through a Center of Excellence and I was encouraged to bring someone to all of my pre- and post-op education classes. I think that the more you and your family can learn about the process and the surgery, the less fearful and anxious you will be. Learn as much as you can and ask lots of questions and keep us updated on how you are doing.

    No, no, and no.

    I want a cheeseburger

The first time I went out with my family to a restaurant post-op was to a Japanese hibachi restaurant. I was on soft foods so I drank soup and ordered shrimp and scallops. I was able to give away my rice before it even hit the plate and took home enough leftovers to have two more meals. You will get there.

A Trip Down Memory Lane - band removed 4 years ago

@@CowgirlJane, thank you so much for sharing this great reminder of how important it is to take time to reflect on our progress and how helpful it is to journal. You are one of the people on this site who has helped me and inspired me the most. I am sure that somewhere in my journal I have written down how much I want to be able to ride a horse again. Right now, I would be happy with being able to feed my equine neighbors apples without risking life and limb by stepping in a hole.

    Tasting foods

If you are aware that eating them may set you up for more cravings and are prepared to deal with that in a healthy way, I don't see a problem with having something occasionally. Especially if you are past about six month's post op. As long as you are getting in your protein, track what you eat, and planning for it, I can't see where it would doom your weight loss or recovery. What does your NUT advise?

    Awesome NSV

Congratulations! You look so great (and happy!) I applaud your courage for being willing to share your story so publicly.
