Orange juice
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ANewMe83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try Syntrax nectar fuzzy navel or GNC Lean Shake 25 orange cream. They are both really good choices for me when I am craving orange juice. -
Weight loss?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to gabbisha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw on a previous post of yours that you have already received lots of feedback about this. If you follow the program, you will lose weight. You do have to follow the program and be patient. Weight loss is not instant and if I remember correctly, you started at a relatively low weight to begin with. The worst thing you can do is compare yourself to other people. I am going to ask you the most fundamental questions because I don't have any idea what you are doing. Are you getting in all your Protein and Water every day? Are you tracking your food (weighing and measuring everything)? Are you eating protein first? Are you eating slowly and chewing your food thoroughly? Are you avoiding starches and highly processed foods? Are you avoiding high fructose corn syrup? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? Have you talked to your NUT or surgeon about your concerns? If you answered yes to all of those questions, then just be patient. If you answered, no, then I suggest you make an appointment with your bariatric team for advice. Best of luck. Worrying and driving yourself crazy with anxiety won't make the weight come off any faster. Everyone loses at their own rate. -
Weight loss?

Not me. Why do you ask? Does this apply to you? -
I just want to be able to take a bath in a regular bathtub.

No protein & no vitamins, is it a problem?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Melvyn96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why are you in bed most of the day? At 2 weeks out you are still in danger of blood clots. You need to be up and moving around more than once a day. -
No protein & no vitamins, is it a problem?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Melvyn96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your initial post said you were feeling fine and aren't having complications? Come to find out you are weak and have been to the hospital for dehydration. Is that how you define feeling fine? -

Yes, they are really necessary. -
Sleeved yesterday hooray

Were you prescribed a PPI? If not, be sure and get your surgeon to prescribe one. -
Neither of you deserve to be treated badly by yourself or anyone else.

It won't get better. It will get worse. I know it's hard but you do not need this guy in your life. You (and your children) deserve so much better. Even if he doesn't intend to hurt you physically, he already has, and he will again. You are not in control of this situation. You NEED to walk away NOW.

Sugar Free Crockpot recipes
Inner Surfer Girl replied to tissiegirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I started a recent thread about slow cooker recipes but don't remember if anyone posted sweet recipes. Most everything is savory. -
I'll try not to sound arrogant. My surgeon refuses to operate on anyone who doesn't quit smoking (or dipping or whatever) and committing to remaining smoke free. I don't know how long before surgery is required, but he does require a nicotine test prior to surgery. Good luck with quitting. My hurdle was quitting caffeine and carbonation. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to quit nicotine.

Craving drama and not being ok with being alone are two huge red flags to me. If you don't want to sleep alone then get a pet or a teddy bear. You do not deserve to be held hostage. Whatever you do, this is not healthy. Time will only make things worse. If you can't leave NOW then get some help. Are you living with him? I don't see any upside to not acting now and lots of danger in not doing so.

Some random thoughts: "It's better to have loved and lost than to be married to a psychopath the rest of your life." It doesn't even sound like you love this guy. The longer you stick around the harder it will be to extricate yourself from this "relationship".

No protein & no vitamins, is it a problem?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Melvyn96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you haven't had Protein shakes, how are you getting your protein? You aren't required to have shakes, but without some sort of protein supplement it will be impossible to get enough protein when you are restricted to clear and/or full liquids. What is your protein goal? Mine is 100 grams and I was expected to meet that goal the day after surgery. Are you getting 64 oz of fluid/water? I didn't have to worry about Vitamins until a week after surgery. You do need to start taking vitamins as directed by your program. Without protein, Water, and proper nutrition, you risk not healing, not losing weight, malnutrition, and much much worse. -
More carbs for intense exercise
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Daisee68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good carbs: whole fruits, vegetables, oatmeal, quinoa, etc. Bad carbs: starches, processed food. Definitely talk to your NUT. Your trainer may have some good ideas but not know how to apply them to a bariatric patient. -
Pandora Williams – Finding Inspiration to Be Inspirational
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I agree, to a point. But, my observation is that many of us have gained our weight throughout our lives and have been mostly functional throughout so we have been able to accomplish a great deal in spite of our weight struggles. The younger generation seems to be gaining much more weight at a faster rate. So many seem to be at much higher rates and much younger (peaking at tremendous weights in high school and college). To me that means they don't even have the benefit of having more energy and mobility when they are young like I did. I was always heavy, but it wasn't until my late 40s where I became disabled. Just watching My 600 Pound Life and seeing young people in their 20s who look and act like those of us who are in our 50s is heartbreaking. That has got to have an impact on educational and career opportunities among so many other things. -
Im new. Im Clueless. And I have surgery Monday! 10/12 HELP!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to PurpleJazz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You'll probably need some sugar-free Popsicles, some broths, and liquid Tylenol waiting for you when you get home. My surgeon's office gave me some ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates when I came home from the hospital and I bought some at his office. They were an excellent way to get my Protein during my first week (clear stage). I know a lot of people also use the Isopure ready to drink for clears. -
Maybe I'm an alcoholic?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to likeamazing's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"I don't drink everyday, and I don't drink alone, but I drink pretty often because I'm lonely and alcohol soothes that pain." I don't have a love for drinking, my addiction is food, but I have loved an alcoholic. This statement alone sends up a major red flag. I highly recommend you visit a local AA meeting. Even if it turns out you aren't an alcoholic you will learn a great deal. If you are, it can save your life.
