Is it possible to get more than 80grams of protein without shakes?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Bndtoslv's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can get 100 grams of protein a day with food but not for under 800 calories. Why do you want to keep your cslories under 800 calories? What has your NUT advised? -
Are you getting enough protein and water in every day?
-
Why is it important to get 64 oz of water?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Shainadelphia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The short answer, because you need water to survive and to function. If you don't have enough water for all of your bodily functions then it is going to go into a crisis mode and not function properly. -
Did your NUT at least give you a protein goal?

:How do you get your high protein?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Tracytma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try eating more often. You can eat frequent high-protein snacks and small meals throughout the day. -
That is a question for your NUT. My primary focus, especially immediately post-op is getting in all my protein. Carbs and calories follow that, especially if you are avoiding starch and sugar.

Losing Hope Sleeve Leak 8 mos post op
Inner Surfer Girl replied to losinghope15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Praying. -
I learned the hard way that a "Mr. Right Now" can be very, very dangerous. I learned this at a very young age, and unfortunately, it took years to extricate myself from that relationship. I remember vividly making the conscious decision to sleep with a jerk because I knew I would never fall for him. Boy was I wrong. I knew he was a jerk going in, yet I allowed myself to go there. He remained a jerk yet I fell for him, hard. Because of him I have become very, very careful, and very, very conservative about intimacy.

Losing Hope Sleeve Leak 8 mos post op
Inner Surfer Girl replied to losinghope15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Tryingtogetmylifeback, Call your surgeon. You don't need to go this long without hydration. This is extremely dangerous. You may need to go to the ER but certainly call your doctor right away. I know mine gave me a number to call for complications and emergencies. Not being able to drink for two days is an emergency. -
I'm so disappointed in myself!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Katsitsyahawe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am glad you were able to come here and be honest about what you did and how you are feeling. That takes a lot of courage. You chose to eat off of your plan. Now what? In my opinion, the best thing to do is to forgive yourself and go back to your plan. I know from my own pre-op dieting life experience that there is a temptation to just give up. Fortunately, what I have learned is that one bad choice or decision does not have to completely derail me from my objective. Record what you ate and keep moving forward. Your about to get the biggest second chance possible. Best of luck with your surgery. -
May I also tactfully suggest you don't sleep with a man until, and unless, he has shown you his true nature and really committed to you. That might mean waiting until remarriage (my preference) or at least waiting until things are much more committed. Why would you give an intimate part of yourself to someone that you didn't want around your children? I may be old-fashioned now, but looking back to my teen/20's years I was desperate for someone to love me (child of an alcoholic father and distant mom) and gave myself away (body and soul) to several undeserving men (boys!), including my soon-to-be-ex husband. My 14 yo dd came home from school the other day with a link to a TED talk about relationships they were supposed to watch for health class. I think it's an excellent talk and recommend it for anyone in the dating games https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jodhovumkHQ I finally watched this video. What great advise. I wish I could have heard this 30 plus years ago (and payed attention). It could have saved many years of heartache.

Who’s on Your Call List?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think this is an important thing to think about and to prepare for. Fortunately, I didn't have any urgent medical issues, but my Bariatric Program/surgeon's office has a 24 hour phone number to call for post-op questions and issues. For my NUT, she is reachable via phone and email during business hours. Also, my surgeon's and discharge instructions were very clear about issues that would require an ER visit. He also stressed the importance of keeping him in the loop if I did have an emergency or had to go to the ER. Frankly, I am really surprised how many people seem to seek medical advise, especially about urgent issues, online. Some people ask questions that I would be on the phone asking my surgeon. -
Congratulations on your weight loss so far. One thing I have found is that this process seems to be very complex in some ways. I do know that as we lose fat, our hormones can fluctuate wildly which can affect our moods and emotions. In addition, for those of us who are used to using food to manage feelings, and emotions, not being able to use food in that way can cause erratic moods. You are going rough a tremendous physical and mental change. It is very possible that you are depressed and/or are still processing a lot of changes. It's great that you have a therapist who can help you process all of this.

Sleeved August 26 but only 20lbs
Inner Surfer Girl replied to del112's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would love to help but you haven't provided very much info. Are you following your surgeon and NUT's program? Are you getting in all your Protein and Water every day? Are you avoiding starches? Are you tracking your food (weighing and measuring everything)? Are you eating protein first? Are you eating slowly and mindfully and chewing thoroughly? Are you taking all of your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? -
So glad to hear. Congratulations! Now, don't answer when he calls you or texts you.

Protein Shake help for taste and smell?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Gethealthy2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drink it from something with a lid (shaker bottle, sippy cup). A lid will help block the smell. -

What kinda soup you having after week 1?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to sarahbethemails's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon's office sold it (along with the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates which I also used a lot). I also ordered some online from Bariatric Choice where I get my Bariatric Advantage calcium chews. I also get the WonderSlim Dark Chocolate protein pudding from them. -

I lived on the ProtiDiet tomato bisque and creamy chicken. They really helped me get in my protein. -
What were your favorite first "solid" foods?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to FocusOnMeNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorite first solid food was and is cheese! My favorite soft food was cheese, too! It would have been my favorite liquid food, too if I could have found a clear liquid cheese. But seriously, my favorite soft and solid foods are generally the same: tuna, salmon, shrimp, scallops, turkey, meatballs, ground meat, turkey burgers, black bean burgers, pork tenderloin, yogurt, fresh fruit, green Beans, fresh sliced tomatoes, steak, refried beans, and cheese. The biggest treat when I was cleared for regular foods was Greek (gyro meat, feta, tzatziki sauce, hot sauce, no pita, no rice). I did have a bite of stuffed grape leaf. I didn't really start salad/lettuce until later. -
Weight loss?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to gabbisha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my opinion, until you are able to get in enough Protein and Water, the last thing you should be focused on is the number on the scale. You need to eat and drink like it's your job. Getting in my protein and water was and is my primary focus, and I don't go to sleep at night until I get it all in. It's a challenge but you have to do it. Please make an appointment with your NUT and surgeon immediately. You are risking dehydration and malnutrition. -
I am so, so glad to hear this. For me, what I see in your situation is that thankfully you have realized how dangerous this relationship is while it is relatively easy to walk away. You aren't living with him, married to him, and/or pregnant. You are strong enough and worth it enough to choose someone who is good for you and to you. You deserve nothing less. Praying for you.
