    Help - scared

Thanks! Try carrying a Water bottle everywhere. That will keep at least on hand full so it will be a little harder to "spontaneously" walk into a shop and buy something you don't need and put it in your mouth. If you do find yourself in a shop is there something else you could buy that is non-edible? You are too early in your program or I would suggest that if you must get something to eat that you get something healthy to snack on instead (like sunflower seeds or a fresh piece of fruit). That will come later. Maybe see if they have Protein shakes where you like to stop. It's hard to graze when your hands are full. See if you can find something else to carry and/or do with your hands. If I am at home in front of the TV, I try to do something like knit or color. Maybe carry a camera and take pictures as you walk through the streets. I am sure others' have some suggestions.

    They seemed sane...Dating horror stories

I had a work colleague who cleared his throat every 15 seconds. It drove me bananas. I finally asked him if he had a medical problem or if it was just a habit. I never got a good answer and it never stopped.

    Help - scared

I am so sorry to hear you are struggling. Normally, uncontrolled bingeing is bad enough, but so soon after surgery it is particularly dangerous. My first question is are you getting in all your Protein and Water? When I was in my first weeks and months post-surgery, I was sipping something almost constantly in order to get in all my protein and fluids. I can't even imagine having room for Cookies or candy. Why do you have cookies and candy in your house? I suggest that since you know you will eat them if they are available that you get rid of anything that you cannot resist. And don't bring them in the house again. Only keep the food that is allowed on your food plan in your house. Recovering from food addiction is very hard but you have got to address it if you want to be healthy. Can you move your appointment up? Or, at least call and have a phone appointment? Have you considered finding a support group like OA? There are meeting lists (both phone and in person), podcasts, and other support materials on their website. Www.oa.org. You are going to have to find something else to do with your hands when you feel the urge to eat off of your plan. There is lots of advice on this website. Best of luck with your journey.

    Plataeu

When I was still on liquids I got tired of sweet shakes, so I really liked the ProtiDiet tomato basil and creamy chicken Soups. You might also want to try the unjury chicken Soup. By the third week I was also able to have Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I am glad you realized that you are having a third week stall. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Just stay off the scale if it's going to cause you anxiety. Best of luck.
  6. Glad to hear you are home. Temperatures, tastes, and textures are going to be wacky for a while. I found early out I could do ice chips and Popsicles, but had to have other liquids room temperature or warm. You just have to experiment and see what works.

Walking up stairs losing my breathe

Your lungs take a big hit during surgery. You are literally paralyzed during the surgery so it takes a lot for your lungs to reinflate fully after surgery (hence the spirometer). Definitely check with your surgeon, but you are still recovering. Make sure you are getting in all your Protein and Water. It will help.

    Newbie

Welcome and congratulations on persevering. My surgery was delayed due to some financing issues which was aggravating, but ultimately, it was for the best because I was super prepared and ready to get it over with by the time my date arrived. November will be here before you know it. Best of luck with your surgery and keep us posted.

Got nekkid at work yesterday !

Thank you. The dogs will have to be kept at arms length for sure. They tend to jump up and do the lap dog thing every chance they can. Taking precautions with this. Also going to put their toys out of reach so they don't become trip hazards. i don't know if this is going to be enough.....but it's all they had after searching through two stores: Getting ready to get my bag & spare C-PAP packed. Going to walk a couple miles later on this evening. I think I'll skip the gym and simply do a few laps around the neighborhood instead. I've got the germ-fear thing kicking around in my head. Weather report is good. Fresh air will feel good. Staying seriously hydrated. That is a lot of Gas-X. I bought one box and still have most of it left.

    Nutrition plan share away.

My first week was clear liquids so I used premier protein (my surgeon allowed this as an exception to the clear rule), and ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate. My second week was full liquids (which also included Greek yogurt and cottage cheese). I also used ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil soup.

My holy grail product for DRY skin!

I have some of this (but not in the pump), but have mostly been using Palmer's Cocoa Oil and Cocoa Butter. One of my doctors to me to never get a lotion or moisturizer in a pump because they add drying ingredients (alcohol) that makes the lotion go through the pump. It is good advise.

    Nutrition plan share away.

It is hard early out but you really do need to follow your surgeon's instructions. They aren't suggestions, they are designed to help you stay nourished and heal safely.

    Homeopathic nausea relief

I haven't but I also didn't experience nausea after surgery. The best advice I can give is to take small sips.

    Average Weight Loss per month

If so, you are setting yourself up for aggravation and anxiety. You are not in charge of the numbers on the scale. You ARE in charge of getting in all your protein and water every day and following your plan.
  20. I agree. Ultimately, you are responsible for your own health and she is responsible for hers. You can be caring, compassionate, open, and honest. But the decision about what is right to eat or not to eat is up to you.

    Concerned about memory loss

I was in a bit of a fog after surgery. I credited it with the stress of surgery, anesthesia, and low carbs. Since you are four months out and still experiencing it I suggest you talk to your NUT and/or surgeon. It may be due to a Vitamin deficiency and/or lack of carbs.

Wondering if I'm doing something wrong

At two weeks out I was on full liquids. At three weeks I was started soft foods. Are you getting in all your Protein and Water every day? Getting enough fluids will help with constipation. And getting in all of your protein is critical for healing and weight loss. A stall is very normal at about three weeks post op. In addition, you will stall again. Stalls are a normal, natural and necessary part of the process. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
