Does my daily nutrition look on point?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to marcy0912's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It looks good to me. At three weeks I was on soft foods so could do soft vegetables and soft no-sugar added fruits. He might consider adding one or two of those a day (or a V8). What does his NUT suggest? Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -

Want to chug... So thirsty
Inner Surfer Girl replied to cjd2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have got to keep at it. Try sugar-free Popsicles. Try crushed ice. Try crystal light. Try decaf tea. Try clear Protein like ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, Syntrax nectar, or Isopure. Any and all non-caloric, non-caffeinated fluids counted for me as fluids. Have you talked to your surgeon NUT? Dehydration is serious and if you don't stay hydrated you will wind up back in the hospital. -
Obsessing Over My Stall
Inner Surfer Girl replied to RobinGee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How far along are you? Why are you drinking juice at all? Are you still on Clear liquids? Are you getting in all of your Protein? If you are in your first month out then you need to worry most about staying hydrated and getting in enough protein. I recommend staying off the scale at least until you see your doctor and have a weigh in. If you are truly in a stall then you might try increasing calories, not by adding juice/sugar, but by adding protein and/or good carbs. Well, I've been yelled at today.
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Snowbutterfly's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with @Babbs. I am not aware of any medical office that doesn't have a cancellation policy. They aren't picking on you, they just have to see a lot of people. I'd also like to add that from now to the end of the calendar year, they are particularly slammed. They are trying to get a lot of folks through the process and scheduled. -
Waiting period? Incredibly frustrated!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to sassyfrass23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest you talk to the insurance coordinator in your surgeon's office. They tend to be pretty familiar with the different insurance companies and may have a better contact person. -
Stuck stuck stuck!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ALLABTME_KISHA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See the problem is I set these mini goals for myself every 30days and when I don't make them I get extremely frustrated!! Sometimes I feel like if I was doing more, far as exercise I could meet my mini goals and my ultimate goal faster.... Im just rushing the process, so tired of being fat that now that its starting to come off... I just want it gone! And NOW!! You need to set goals for things you can control, not the results. You can control meeting your Protein goal daily. You can control drinking enough fluids. You can control getting yourself to the gym or taking a walk. These are the types of things you can set goals for. The results are out of our control. -
Dr. Weiss put of Lexington KY
Inner Surfer Girl replied to megieg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! I know you are so relieved to get that approval. If I remember correctly, I had my pre-op appointment on Wednesday and was able to get a surgery date for the next Monday. I think it depends on his schedule. -
I am a lap swimmer again. Years ago, when I was in much better shape, I was a regular lap swimmer. At my peak I swam a mile a day. For the last few years I have mostly been doing deep Water aerobics for exercise. Last week, I added some back stroke into my routine. Yesterday, I was doing a few laps of backstroke and thinking how great it would be once I was able to become a lap swimmer again. After about 15 minutes, I realized I WAS a lap swimmer again! Because, I was swimming laps without a struggle and actually enjoying it. I am on my way!

The 6 month stall?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to krista132's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your weight loss so far and for following your program. I just had my six month follow-up appointment so we are at the same place. Does weight loss slow down at the six month mark? I don't know. I do know that I do not lose at a constant rate and that stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Just follow your program. Ounces of protein
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ShannonSinTx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told not to eat more than 20-25 grams at a time. The ounces will vary depending on how much Protein is in your food. -

Try ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate in grape and/or grape crystal light. They aren't exactly Welches but pretty close. -
Calories in/Calories out
Inner Surfer Girl replied to jess9395's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Excellent article. The obsession with calories is a hard one to break but so worth it. 1000 calories of donuts is a world away from 1000 of turkey. This was on the bulletin board at my surgeon's office: -
Patients that do gastric bypass or sleeve
Inner Surfer Girl replied to sarahbethemails's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as the recipes align with the program your NUT and surgeon have given you then the type of surgery you had shouldn't matter. -

Welcome and congratulations on your surgery. There is a forum for folks in their twenties on this site. You might get a better response if you post to that group. Otherwise, if you have questions and don't mind us old folks responding to, ask away! -
My Big Fat Fabulous Life - Do you watch it?

How to get protein in first week out?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to cjd2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first week out (clear liquids) I used ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate (undiluted, over crushed ice, with a spoon) a lot. I was also allowed premier protein and ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil soups as an exception to the clear rule by my surgeon. I know a lot of people like the Isopure RTD. You just have to keep sipping. Take small sips, almost drips, at first and keep at it. It gets easier. -
troubel getting protein and food in.
Inner Surfer Girl replied to fharris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could make a schedule either on paper or on your phone. I use MyFitnessPal to track my protein because I can't remember what I did 10 minutes ago but it doesn't have a scheduling function. You may just have to write everything down for now if you have to eat on a schedule. -
Concern about WLS and my fat cat!

troubel getting protein and food in.
Inner Surfer Girl replied to fharris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess it depends on what you are eating. You could use herbs and/or spices, sauces, etc. I didn't have a purée stage, but my NUT recommended using some low-fat gravy to make meats moist. -
Glad to hear you are on the mend!

Struggling with the liquid diet numbers game
Inner Surfer Girl replied to BrightEyes529's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to sip something all day at that stage. It's hard, but you have got to do it. As you heal and can consume more at a time things will improve. In the meantime, just keep sipping.
