    One Month Post Op

    Congratulations!
  2. It sounds like you need to be on the phone with your surgeon. I know mine has a 24-hour contact number. Call!

    SNACK SUBSTITUTE

I've just discovered Mr. Cheese Cheese O's. They are really good and I have been eating them as a post-swim snack, but I can see me getting addicted to them pretty easily.

    So this is weird...

I know. That is one of the hardest things to understand when we are pre-op, that there are times when we won't want to eat, especially the junk.

    Definite NSV.... Boudoir Photos! Eeep!

What a great gift not only for him but for you, too!

Carbs, Fats and/or Calories (oh my!)

Generally, low fat or low sugar foods have too much of something else added to make up the difference. The exception is low fat dairy and cheeses (because fat is removed but sugar isn't added).

  8. Why are you even attempting to eat one, two, or three Lean Cuisine's at two weeks? Aren't you following your surgeon and NUT's post-op program at all? Did you receive any education, discharge orders, a detailed food plan, guidance, or documentation? At two weeks I was on full liquids and struggling to get in my fluids and 100 grams of Protein every day. When I read your topic title I thought maybe you were eating milkshakes all day. I have never seen Lean Cuisine's allowed on any of my post-op program materials.

    Reasons for diet stages?

My NUT explained that the stages were all about the texture. Our stomach's are healing from major surgery so we have to be careful about texture and while we heal, we need nutrition to heal so we need maximum nutrition.

    Finally on the losers bench

Congratulations! Welcome to the loser's bench.

    Legs please!

Congratulations! You look great! I, for one, do not care if I never wear high heels for the rest of my life. Life is too short!

    What happens

Possibly. Is this your first appointment?

    Judged at the hospital

Wow. I am so sorry you experienced such unprofessionalism. They must not have many bariatric patients. One of the reason's I chose my hospital/program was because they had a very well-regarded bariatric program. Everyone I encountered was kind, encouraging, helpful, and very professional. I would definitely make your surgeon's office aware of how you were treated.

    Salsa?

I am sure someone had one. I just open a jar!

    No weight loss?

What you are feeling is a common, but unfounded fear. If you follow your surgeon's program you will lose weight. Just focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise. None of us loses at a constant rate. We all experience stalls, which are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. You probably experienced your first stall around your third week post-op. Skinny chasers

This is a tangent. I remember many year's ago hearing a matchmaker tell a story about one of her clients. She said she took him to a local upscale mall. To get an idea of what "type" of woman he found attractive she asked him to point out anyone he saw that he found attractive. It turns out the only "women" he noticed were the mannequins in the department store displays. Some guys just don't like or know how to deal with real, live human women.

    Psych appointment

I knew I was approved when I left the appointment. I can't speak for how your psychologist handles the process. Were you given any specific follow-up items or was it just a recommendation that you would benefit from further counseling?

Can we talk about Halloween candy?

For all the extra candy your kid's bring home, I know that some dentist's buy it back from them. I think I've also heard that some kids donate theirs to soldiers.

    Post op struggle.

48 grams of protein isn't enough. What is your protein target? The lowest target I have seen is 60. Mine is 100. Getting enough protein and Fluid is critical for health, healing, and weight loss.
  22. Inner Surfer Girl

    weight

Yes, you are being impatient. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, follow your surgeon's instructions, and stay off the scale.

    I crossed over

Congratulations and welcome to the loser's bench! Do everything you are asked, keep sipping, and walking. You will feel much better soon.

Well, I've been yelled at today.

For my last sleep doctor appointment, I didn't receive a reminder call and went anyway. Turns out I was a day ahead! I put the wrong day on my calendar. I got the reminder call later that day.

    December 1st surgery date

Welcome and best of luck with your surgery. December will be here before you know it. Just keep reading and asking questions. There is so much to learn. If you don't already have a notebook or binder, you might want to get one. Some things I did pre-op to help prepare me for surgery that seemed to help: Weaned myself off of caffeine and carbonation. Increased my Water intake to at least 64 oz a day. Exercised 60 minutes a day. Focused on eating more Protein. Started sampling different Protein shakes and supplements. Took the Vitamins recommended by my surgeon. They had me taking extra D3, a Multivitamin, and extra Iron (because I was anemic). I also went on a bit of a shopping spree buying cute small dishes, appetizer spoons, etc. If you don't have them already, make sure you have a good food scale and measuring cups and spoons. Best of luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.
