$500 for a group information session about the VSG?

That doesn't sound right. Definitely contact the surgeon's office and see if you can get to the bottom of it. Document everything. For my program, I had a free information session (which I took online), but I did have a $500 program fee that I had to pay upfront once I decided to have surgery. It was explicitly stated that it wouldn't be covered by insurance. The fee was designed to cover all of the required educational seminars. My surgeon's office were very clear and open about that fee. So, if you were never told about the charge you definitely need to get some answers.

    NSV - underwear

After losing over 150 pounds from my highest weight, I finally broke down and bought two new bras and underwear. I was planning to buy the next two sizes down of underwear all summer but kept putting it off. Since bra sizes are harder to predict I just ignored the decision. I finally ordered the next three lower sizes of underwear so I will be prepared. It feels so good to wear underwear that fits!

Great to hear! It is so weird to actually look forward to doctor's appointments but I definitely looked forward to my six-month follow up.

    First Restaurant Dinner Out?

I think I was on soft foods. We went to a Japanese Hibachi restaurant. I drank some of the soup and ordered shrimp and scallops. I gave my sister my salad and rice and still had a lot of leftovers to take home for several meals.

    Expectations

Congratulations on beginning your journey. How much you can/should be eating at one week post/op is very individual. At one week post-op I was just starting full liquids. My Protein target is 100 grams of protein. Just focus on getting in all of your protein and fluids and following your surgeon's guidelines. Keep sipping.
  15. What you are experiencing is the first, and most predictable, of the many stalls you will experience. Stalls are a natural, necessary, and normal part of the process. As other's have suggested above, you might need to look at increasing your calories and reducing your exercise. What does your NUT advise? Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Is it Depression?

So glad to hear this. Would you be willing to share any of the tips or insights you received from your surgeon or NUT? You obviously don't have to if its too private, but if you are open to the idea, it might help someone else who is struggling.
  21. Thanks so much for the update. I am so glad to hear you aren't in danger of dying anytime soon. I hope they can find a solution for you at your follow-up appointment. Keep us updated.

What they are really thinking... "So, you think this is all I eat? I have a steak waiting at home for me when I get out of this lousy, cheap date."

    Contact Lenses & Hospital Stay

Definitely let them know about your needs. I had a pre-registration phone call a few days before my surgery. That would have been a great time to let them know about your issues and challenges. Frankly, from what you described and based on my own experience in recovery, if I was in your shoes I wouldn't mess with them. As someone else mentioned, you can get an aide to walk with you and help you to the bathroom, etc. Best of luck with your surgery and keep us posted on how you are doing.
