    Update on my dilemma

Does what you have already done to prepare count toward the six-month supervised diet? That would be the first thing I would ask because the wait may not have to be as long as you think. It's something worth exploring. Edited because I hit reply too soon.

    Getting Protein In

I liked: ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, ProtiDiet tomato basil and creamy chicken soups, premier Protein, GNC Lean 25, Syntrax nectar, sugar-free Popsicles, and sonic ice. Just keep sipping. Try different temperatures from warm to room temperature to ice-cold. Try decaf tea or herb infusions, Water enhancers (like Mio or crystal light). You will find what works best. Just keep sipping because it is critical that you stay hydrated and get in your protein.

    Fever after surgery

Call your surgeon. Were you given a list of symptoms to look for that required a call to your surgeon. They should have given you one with your discharge papers, and fever should be on it. Call!
  6. If you are pre-op, you can fill up on vegetables. I kept a lot of frozen vegetables in the freezer and added steamed broccoli, cauliflower, etc. to bulk up my meals. Cruciferous vegetables are great for filling you up without a lot of calories.
  7. Whether you feel like it or not, you have got to keep up with your protein and fluids. You don't want to wind up in the ER with dehydration or other complications.

    Newbie

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Whether you are stalled or not, it is critically important that you follow your surgeon's plan, get in all of your Protein and fluids every day, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise. What does your NUT advise? Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Beginning my journey ????????

Congratulations and welcome. This is quite a journey. Since you haven't even met with your surgeon, I would encourage you to keep an open mind about which procedure to have. Do your research, read, and ask questions with an open mind. I started this process dead set against any weight loss surgery (mostly because I had a lot of old, out-dated preconceptions) and with lots of time and information was very happily sleeved on April 20 of this year. As long as you choose a procedure that you and your surgeon are confident is right for you, your unique body, and your lifestyle, then that is what you should do. It's not a competition. Best of luck with your journey and keep us posted on how you are doing.

    serious question for fellow "veterans"

@@CowgirlJane, you and your story, experience, and knowledge are absolutely relevant to me. The same goes for the other veteran's. Since it's all about me, that is all that matters!
  11. I agree with everyone. As long as you are following your surgeon's program you will lose weight. I recommend that you stay off the scale. You will be weighed at Doctors appointments which is plenty early out. Just focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. It's critical for healing and weight loss.

What is your favorite yoga DVD?

If you have a ROKU (or other streaming device) you might want to check out Gaiama. They have some free videos and a subscription service with a wide variety of exercise programs. That way you could sample some to see what you like. I know they have a lot of Yoga, Leslie Sansone, etc. www.gaiamtv.com

Making my way to the starting grid

Welcome aboard, captain! Buckle your seatbelt, you are in for quite an adventure! I was sleeved April 20 of this year and couldn't be happier with my recovery and progress. I've lost over 150 pounds from my highest weight and just had my six-month follow-up. I have a lot to lose still so can't answer your question from first-hand experience, but from everything I have learned, it seems our bodies are pretty good at finding a weight that it wants. There are folks who are on this forum who have been maintaining their weight for a long time who can give you more insight. As someone who is new to the process, I recommend you learn as much as you can, read a lot, ask lots of questions, and take notes. My program gave me a binder full of information that was invaluable for collecting all kinds of information. It became my bible. Especially, immediately before and after surgery. What I have learned so far that works well for me is to: Focus on Protein and fluids. My target is at least 100 grams of protein and 64 oz fluid/water a day. Take all of my Vitamins and supplements as instructed. Avoid (for the most part) starches (like rice, Pasta, potatoes, etc.). And Exercise. Participating on this forum is a great way to learn. Best of luck with your journey. I wish you all the best. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
  14. I think what you are going through is very normal. Our bodies have to go through major adjustments. Remember, we are dismantling a structure that supports a tremendous amount of weight which takes a lot of resources. If you are doing everything you are supposed to do, then I wouldn't worry. I don't know about you, but I am in this for the long haul and know it's going to take time. If you really are concerned, why not make an appointment with your NUT? Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  15. Make sure you get enough protein. It will keep you satisfied longer. Also, drink a lot of water.
  16. I only limited high sugar/high fructose corn syrup and starches (potatoes, pasta, rice, etc.). It is much more important that you get in your protein and fluids right after surgery than to worry about carbs. Sugar-free Popsicles are fine. You need the fluid.

Definitely get it checked out. Just a thought, though...you haven't tried on any brand-new blue jeans lately, have you?
  19. Congratulations and welcome! You are in for quite an adventure.
  20. Where do you get orange blossom water? Is that a Middle Eastern thing or can you get it in the U.S.?

    Calories in versus calories burned

    Calories in versus calories burned

Congratulations on the weight loss! It sounds like you are doing great. Our bodies are complex systems, not simple machines. Slow downs and stalls are all part of the process. Have you talked with your NUT? Are you still getting in all of your Protein and fluids? (A red flag for me is when I see a post like yours that focuses on calories but doesn't mention protein.) I would say you stay the course, but you might want to talk with your NUT to make sure you are getting in all the nutrition you need for your activity level.
  23. I do and really like them. They are very chewy so it's possible you might be burning 20 calories just chewing one.
