    Stalls or plateaus

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. That said, it looks like your calories are really low. Especially related to your exercise level. You may need to up your Protein and calories. 67 grams of protein also seems really low. What is your protein target? Beating yourself up nutritionally speaking

Eggs are a good choice at McDonald's. Frankly, I have found reasonable options at most fast food restaurants. I just have to stop and think.

    Work from home after surgery?

Based on my experience, you may want to be careful for a few weeks post-op. My brain was pretty fuzzy and it was hard to focus for about a month post-op. Probably due to the anesthesia, lack of carbs/low calories, fatigue, and healing from surgery. Don't be afraid to take it easy for a while. If you do attempt to do detail work, you may want to make sure someone checks behind you and that you go really slowly.

    Black and White Thinking.

One thing that helped me is to focus on what I COULD have instead of what I couldn't. Drink lots of Water. Eat sugar-free Popsicles and drink broth if allowed. Drink all the recommended shakes if that is your program. This is not the time to restrict. If you have questions about what you are allowed, then call your NUT. The pre-op diet is temporary. It is designed so that you can have the safest and best surgery experience. It is for your benefit. You can do it!

    Weight Loss 3 weeks out

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. We all experience stalls and just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall.

    When did you start purée?

I didn't have a puréed phase. I started soft foods on week three.

    Gym-Stall?

Have you talked to a personal trainer about setting up a good workout? It is my understanding that you need rest days between strength training days. I swim and mix up my workout. I also don't swim every day. Also, keep in mind that you won't see a change on the scale every day. You may be setting yourself up with unrealistic expectations. Weighing less frequently may be a great strategy for you. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight, you will experience stalls.

    Cooking book

If you cook then it should be fairly easy to adapt healthy recipes for your needs. The post-op food phases are based on texture. You will be focusing on protein first, vegetables and fresh fruits, second. I generally avoid starches, added sugars, especially high fructose corn syrup, and fried foods.

    Am I being too sensitive?

Not everyone has the same experience post-op, and from what I can tell, a lot has changed in the last few years. Maybe you could invite your mom to attend some of the pre-op nutrition classes or support group meetings with you as a refresher.
  12. You are swollen and still recovering from major surgery. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all lose at different rates and just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery.

    WLS and "body positivity"

Everything you talk about when it comes to clothes is because we have such a reliance on industrial production of clothing. Especially an industrial standard that was in many ways developed in the 18th and 19th centuries. Why is a bolt of cloth the size it is? I bet it had something to do with the average size of human beings in England during the industrial revolution. What was "standard" is no longer standard. There is a diversity in body sizes and shapes that do not fit in a "standard", small range of industrial sizing. We still want to standardize human bodies to fit our machines since it is "easier" and "cheaper" for those who control the world's wealth/capital. I know I am rambling but it struck a cord. There is a new book out about the dangers of big data that I want to read. I heard the author interviewed yesterday but can't remember the name. Math is in the title. One of the arguments about big data is when we base our models on shaky underlying assumptions be tend to perpetrate biases.

    Anything helps, I'm new here!

I was sleeved April 20, 2015 and couldn't be happier with my decision, surgery, recovery, and progress so far. It has changed my life. I will echo the recommendation about caffeine and carbonation. Weaning myself off of carbonation and caffeine slowly pre-op was much easier and better than going cold-turkey for surgery. I can't imagine having to deal with caffeine withdrawal along with everything else.

Glad to hear you ate doing better. A good Protein hot chocolate is ProtiDiet hot chocolate. I also liked the ProtiDiet tomato basil and creamy chicken protein Soups.

    Soft food suggestions for work

I wasn't working during my soft food stage, but I ate a lot of Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, turkey, etc. You could also take things that you had during your liquid phases: soup, protein shakes, etc.

    Protein soups

I liked the ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil soups post-op. Unjury chicken soup is also good. They are great ways to get in protein, especially if you want something savory.

Did anyone have Iron deficiency pre-op?

I assume they were normal enough. Nothing was postponed due to my blood work. I had a final blood test the week before surgery.

    Sandwich Wraps

Instead of making a sandwich, I just eat the sandwich insides with a fork (or my fingers).

Did anyone have Iron deficiency pre-op?

I was low pre-op and took an extra iron supplement on the instruction of my surgeon.

    Salsa

I don't usually eat chips and salsa (although I have had a few in the past year). I have eaten lots of salsa. I eat it on everything: eggs, cottage cheese, black Beans, refried beans, etc. If you are craving something like salsa, then think about ways you can have it on a healthy way. Maybe you could eat it plain with a spoon or use it with a high Protein dip. Try dipping something other than chips or just eat it by itself.

    Need encouragement!

Take a deep breath. It will work out. Some things that helped me with the process: Stay in touch with your bariatric practice. If you have questions, call. Keep asking questions until you understand the answer and what you need to do. Write everything down. Keep a notebook or binder so that you have everything in one place. Practice polite persistence. But, also be patient.
