  1. It is critical for both healing and weight loss that you focus on getting on your fluids and protein. You just had major surgery. Following your surgeon's program is not optional if you want to be healthy.

    Plateau's

Yes, it is normal. Most people experience a stall about three weeks post-surgery. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Self-Talk

For many of us, negative self-talk has become a habit. In order to succeed after weight loss surgery, learning to break that habit can be a tremendous help to recovery. Here is an article I ran across today that gives some great advice about how to end negative self-talk. How to kick negative self-talk to the curb http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/02/health/end-negative-self-talk/index.html

When did you start eating cherry tomatoes

I started eating tomatoes when I was cleared for all foods. One of my favorite meals is sliced fresh tomato and cottage cheese.
  5. First off, you have a sleeve. You don't have a pouch that can stretch. The stretchy part of your stomach has been removed. Worrying about stretching your stomach is pretty unfounded. Second, eating a lot of sugar and starches is not a good idea, but once you have done so, you are going to have a difficult time until you get the sugar out of your system. Eating sugar will set you up to crave sugar. The best thing you can do is go cold turkey and not give in to any cravings. They will go away. Third, your post is so full of negativity. I understand your feelings, but ironically, I just came to BariatricPal to post a link to a very good article about changing negative self-talk. I think you might find it beneficial in this situation. You made a mistake. That is ok. You are not a mistake. How to kick negative self-talk to the curb http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/02/health/end-negative-self-talk/index.html Fourth, the advice I would give is to forgive yourself, reflect on your feelings, create a plan for how you will deal with similar situations in the future, and go back to basics. We are all human and we all make mistakes. It's what we learn from them that will help us move forward.
  6. Why not ask him what his reasoning is? I haven't run across anyone with this restriction. I have run across folks who are lactose intolerant, just not a surgeon or NUT prohibiting the entire food group.

Weird Pain ... started this morning

I don't know but two things you mentioned: you are six months post-op, and the pain is sharp at some times. I was always told that sharp pain is a sign to see the doctor. Any gas pain from the surgery would have dissipated six months ago. I would call my doctor asap.

    Anyone familiar with this?

I didn't look at all of them but as long as you keep the ratio of carbs to Protein low (like with Syntrax nectar) then you should be ok. I was advised to not have more than 20-25 grams of protein at a time. I do drink Premier Protein which has thirty grams of protein, but if you drink them slow, you should be ok. Just beware of the ones that have double-digit carb counts and low protein.

I was able to take my meds starting the day after surgery without a problem.

    Cpap advice

Just an FYI, I made an appointment with my sleep doctor about a month post-op because my pressure was too high. Fortunately, he changed my machine to a new one that automatically adjust pressure. In addition to adjusting straps, you may see some improvement in your sleep apnea soon.
  11. I have seen posts referring to India in the past. Try doing a search and see what comes up. Best of luck with your surgery and keep us posted on how you are doing.
  12. Let me get this right. You messaged a friend this morning, you think she read it, and she hasn't responded? Now you have created a drama about what she thinks, means, etc. I think you are getting ahead of yourself. I can think of many reasons why she may have not responded. Why read so much into a lack of immediate response. Maybe she is busy. Maybe she has other issues going on right now. Why assume it's all about you? I find it helps my peace of mind to assume the best until I have evidence otherwise. Why not just pick up the phone and call of this is bothering you so much?

    Incision scars

I didn't like to look at mine. Plus, I am a picker so I had to make sure I kept them covered with my shirt so I wouldn't be tempted to mess with them. I admit I use the Palmer's because I love the smell, too.

Ideas for ready made stuff I can buy to eat?

You've got lots of great suggestions. I don't cook much either but am trying to do more. I have a very small kitchen so use my microwave and toaster oven a lot. I would also echo the suggestion of using a crock pot. I keep turkey burgers, fish, and chicken in the freezer. Another thing you can do is go to the deli and get sliced meats. Try thickly sliced turkey or roast beef. You can make a deconstructed sandwich but you can also eat it like roast. Heat it up and add a vegetable like green Beans and a little gravy and you have a great comfort-food type meal. I live on yogurt, tuna, cheese, etc. One of my favorite meals is cottage cheese with some fresh, ripe, juicy tomato and lots of black pepper.

    Eggs

I am definitely in the "eat the yolk" camp. Otherwise, why bother!

    Had surgery 10/28/15

I agree to s point, but if you try to have protein in your liquids you can double-count. It's not either or. Water is critical for survival, but water and protein are both critical for healing.

    Incision scars

I've been using Palmer's Cocoa butter or cocoa oil when I get out of the shower. Edited to clarify.

    Need Support and Encouragement

I am so sorry to hear that you have been ill. It must be so disappointing to have your surgery delayed so I understand how you can be discouraged. My surgery was delayed while I lined up financing. While I was disappointed, it ultimately worked out for the best. I hate to hear anyone talk so negatively about themselves. We are all human and do not deserve less than the kindness and caring that we would show toward others. Negative self-talk is not productive and will ultimately keep you from being successful. Do you have some specific goals for helping you prepare for surgery? To prepare, I did several things that really helped. I tried to pick one or two goals to focus on at a time. They included: Weaning myself off of caffeine and carbonation. Increasing my Water to at least 64 oz a day. Exercising 60 minutes a day. Tracking my food. Eating mindfully (taking small bites, chewing slowly, etc.). And Trying different Protein shakes. Now is also a good time to start journaling if you haven't done so already. Try writing about why you want this surgery and what you want your new life to be like. It will give you something to look back on when you feel discouraged. I find if I find some positive action to take toward my goal, I don't feal as hopeless and helpless. You can do this.

    Any Torah observant Sleevers?

@@Trinn, thanks for posting those articles. I'm not Jewish but I found them very inspiring.
  21. Also, that many of us throughout our lives, whether we have weight loss surgery or not, usually need some sort of Vitamin supplement. It's just the nature of our modern diet. I would argue if you forget to take the Vitamins your doctor recommends every once in a while, it's not the end of the world. But, if you neglect to take them all the time or don't seek out advice from your doctor if you have difficulty taking them, then the results can be serious.

    Regret, depression & anxiety

I haven't found any restaurant yet (fast food or otherwise) that doesn't have something I can eat. It is difficult when you are on full liquids, but once you get to soft foods it is much easier.

    Scared

Since the band has come out have you continued to meet your daily protein and water goals. Whatever you decide, I would encourage you to still follow the basic bariatric eating guidelines to stay healthy.
