    Support group help

Great! Let us know how it goes. I bet it will be at least as rewarding for you as those who will hear your story.

Eating, Drinking, and Time In Between?

    1. None, because I have a functioning pyloric valve. 2. I have found that sometimes I don't drink anything immediately after eating because I don't have room or am not particularly thirsty, not because I don't want to "wash food" through my stomach. 3. No.

    Ideas for on-the-go lunches?

You might have to find a way to slow down for meals. It is important both physically and mentally to take breaks and eating on the run got many of us into this shape in the first place. We are worth taking care of ourselves, and any employer that doesn't allow time for meals and breaks, whether formally or informally, sounds like a very unhealthy place to work. Just my 2 cents.
  4. My surgeon was very different. He wanted us to get protein in as soon as possible. The volume you can consume in the first few weeks post-surgery will not allow you to have too many calories and protein is crucial for healing.

    Confused by Soup

I wasn't told not to eat liquids with food so when I eat soup, I eat soup. Those of us who were sleeved still have our pyloric valve so we don't have to worry about washing food out of our stomach. You will get other opinions on these forums. The best thing to do if you are in doubt, is talk to your own NUT.

    Smoking

My surgeon refuses to operate on anyone who has not quit smoking and is not committed to be smoke free. This is an issue you need to address with your surgeon. If you are not prepared to quit, you may have to postpone your surgery. I hope you are able to find a healthy solution.

    First timer

Welcome to the site. You are in for quite an adventure. I was sleeved April 20 of this year and couldn't be happier with my decision to have surgery, my choice of surgeon and procedure, my recovery, and my progress. You can learn a lot on this site.

    Favorite hot beverage

ProtiDiet protein hot chocolate, Harney & Sons decaf hot cinnamon spice tea, Herb infusions like mint, camomile, etc. are my favorites right now.
  9. It's great to hear you have built a support team. That is so critical for your success in my opinion. I look forward to hearing about your journey.
  10. If no protein shakes or powders, how do you get in your protein? Are you still on liquids?

Feel like quitting ! Please help

Another note, even if your PCP wasn't available for any reason, you could at least get a weigh-in by whoever is there to add to your records. As others have recommended, document everything, and don't give up!

end of year surgery and insurance coverage

This is a good question to ask your insurance coordinator. I would THINK, based on my experience that the clearances and approvals are for a set amount of time, i.e., six months, as opposed to an arbitrary calendar date.

Lose more weight when I eat a lot more

Conventional dieting wisdom taught us to minimize calories. Post-op, our focus needs to shift to maximizing nutrition which seems counterintuitive for many of us. Also, as you noticed with your experience, when we hit stalls (which are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process), we want to "give up". When, in fact, stalls are a good thing. Calories are not our enemy, but Protein and other nutrients are our friends. Learning new strategies is so important to our success. 14. Welcome to the site. This journey is quite an adventure. I am curious about having surgery in Poland. What kind of post-surgery support you are receiving? Do you have a nutritionist (NUT)? Were you provided with a comprehensive plan post-op food plan?
  15. I just had my six-month post-op follow-up appointment. I thought I was doing well, but it was great to get a professional opinion. Fortunately, I was right. I can't believe how quickly the last six months have flown by. I am more mobile, and I am looking like a melting snowman! I still have a long way to go, but since I was to a point where even losing 10 pounds was impossible pre-op, it is a miracle that I am losing so well now. How are the other April Sleevers doing?

    3-days Post-Op (Liquid)

Seriously, stay off the scale. You just had major surgery and are healing. Focus on your Protein and fluids so that you can heal. Weight loss will come.
  17. @@Dallas Powell, how are you are doing? I am curious to find out how your appointment goes this week.

    Revision?

It is very hard to "work off" bad food choices.

    Revision?

You can't compare your progress with your friend. We all have different starting weights, heights, ages, metabolisms, etc. you can only focus on you.

New body brings new partners -- many new partners

I finally finished reading the book Eat it Up! It is written by a therapist who works with weight loss surgery patients and deals with a whole range of psychological issues that arise post-op. I highly recommend the OP (and anyone who is addressing this issue) read it. The chapter on boundaries in personal and sexual relationships is particularly insightful and would be helpful in this issue.

    Congratulations! You look great.

    Sloow weightloss!

You can't compare yourself to other people. It's not a race or a competition. What you can do is focus on following your program. Are you reaching your Protein and Fluid targets every day? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as advised? Are you exercising? As long as you stick with the Program, it will work. Considering a re-sleeve in the new year

I haven't been resleeved, but I have a lot of weight to lose. It is just my opinion, but it seems like a pretty drastic thing to do, especially if you aren't patient enough to use the sleeve as it is designed to be used. Are you still following your program? Since I do not know your story, all I can suggest is that you think very carefully about your decision and talk frankly with your surgeon and NUT. Also, I am posting a link to a thread I wrote a while back that you might find helpful. I truly hope you find a good solution that is healthy and works for you.
