  1. Is this what your NUT suggests?

    Preparation and Recovery

I agree. Depending on your surgeon's requirements (with or without insurance) you may have to have a pre-op diet to lose a certain amount of weight, a liver-shrinking pre-op diet (usually 2 weeks) to prepare for surgery, a variety of tests (like an EGD, pulmonary tests, blood tests, etc) and clearances (caridiologist, etc). There may also be other requirements, for instance if you are a smoker you may have to be smoke free for a certain period of time. As to recovery, even with an easy recovery and no complications, you may need/want to take more than a week or two. Even if you have cash in hand, if your surgeon is good, you can expect that a busy bariatric practice will need more lead time to schedule your surgery. Have you even had your initial consultation?

My epic fail, need help and support

I am so sorry to hear you are still struggling. The only thing I could suggest are to: make an appointment with your NUT to talk about your goals and strategies for reaching those goals and go back to basics. I don't consider this a diet. What works for me: Track my food. Consume at least 64 oz of Fluid a day. Make sure I reach my Protein target every day (for me that is at least 100 grams). Avoid starches (bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes, etc), added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods. Take my Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise. Get enough restful sleep.

    Week One Protein

Protein is critical for healing. Definitely talk to your team about other options for getting in your protein and keep trying. Have you tried Isopure clear or another clear protein like ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. Bone broth is another good source of clear protein.

    Wheelchair

I agree. The only thing I think that may impact your recovery is blood clots and gas. For many of us, walking was helpful for helping to dissipate the gas after surgery. Talk to your surgeon, he or she may have some ideas of what may help. My guess is that stretching (arms over head) or even laying down and bending may help. As to the blood clot issue, your surgeon will be aware of what you need to do to avoid blood clots (which you may already be doing now).

Either. If it were me, eating them as Snacks while traveling, I would eat them raw. If at home, I love them roasted.

    Grocery List Suggestions?

Half of the contents of my refrigerator is cheese or yogurt. About 1/4 is leftovers and the rest is condiments and pickles.

    Advice

I was thinking of Quest chips. I am not familiar with the Slim Fast chips. I also have tried some of the Kay's Naturals protein Snacks. I also like Mr. cheese O's.

Nuts, cheese sticks or cheese slices, turkey or other low fat deli meats, tuna, boiled eggs, non starchy vegetables, protein bars, protein chips, etc.

    Determining Macros/Nutrients

I agree with your surgeon. If you eat Protein first, then vegetables, and the fruits, you should keep everything in balance. Choose healthy fats: olive oil, avocados, real butter, etc. I avoid for the most part starches (rice, Pasta, potatoes, bread), added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods.

    Weight gain at week 4

Counting calories is not the strategy I use. I count Protein. Calories are relative so you may or may not be eating enough. What is your protein target? Are you eating at least that amount of protein? Are you getting at least 64 oz of Fluid? What did your surgeon/NUT advise? That said, none of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls and weight fluctuations. Almost all of us experience a stall about three weeks after surgery. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall.

My surgeon recommended premier protein. You definitely have to read labels. Ensure is what they give anorexics to gain weight. It wouldn't be a very good choice for bariatric patients in my opinion.
  19. I went to a store I used to frequent pre-op. It is a small local store where everyone speaks and is very friendly and helpful. Since it has been so long since I had been there most of the staff was new. I did wind up asking the owner where to find something and I don't think he even recognized me.

    Random Newly Sleeved Question

This is not the time to focus on results. What you need to focus on is healing. Follow your program. Make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Rest. Exercise when cleared. And stay off the scale. This is not the time to focus on results. What you need to focus on is healing.
