  1. I was given a list of required vitamins and supplements (with a suggested schedule) from my surgeon. As far as the multivitamin, I just take a regular multivitamin with Iron (Centrum or a generic version similar to Centrum so far). If you are unclear about requirements why not give your NUT or surgeon's office a call?

    Phentermine after gastric sleeve

I agree with @Kindle. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids every day, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed and exercise. If you are unsure about your program, or unhappy with your progress, make an appointment with your NUT and/or surgeon.

    Crushed Pills vs Swallow whole

I never crushed anything. I just took my pills as is .

    Protein with highest protein:carb ratio

In addition to what is listed above, I also liked the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. They are 15 grams protein per packet and you can eat them concentrated or diluted in water.

Water intake and Daily Calorie goals

I had a Protein and Fluid goal. Calories will fall into place if you follow your program. For me, any fluid counted (Protein shakes, crushed ice, sugar free Popsicles, soup/broth, etc.). Just keep sipping.

    Incision scars

I didn't like to look at mine. Plus, I am a picker so I had to make sure I kept them covered with my shirt so I wouldn't be tempted to mess with them. I admit I use the Palmer's because I love the smell, too. By the way, I didn't start using anything until after my incisions healed.

    Weight loss wall! Any advice?

Stalls are a normal, necessary, and natural part of the process of weight loss. Most folks e peri emcee their first stall somewhere about three weeks after surgery. Just focus on getting in all your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed and exercise. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  8. Does your surgeon want you to lose weight or just shrink your liver? For my pre-op diet (high Protein, very low carb), my surgeon wasn't concerned with weight loss The best thing to do is clarify with your program what you are supposed to do. My pre-op was like Atkins phase 1 so cream of wheat and creamy soups weren't on the the plan.

Gallbladder surgery was a piece of cake!

This is so great to hear!

What have I done to myself?

Fluids are so important. Keep sipping. Set a timer or reminder if you need it. Suck on crushed ice. Eat sugar-free Popsicles. Use crystal light or Mio drops. Whatever works for you just keep at it.

    Hello

Congratulations on taking such a big step toward health. Best of luck with your journey. As to whether or not you can have turkey tomorrow, why not give your NUT a call and ask. It is very important to follow your pre-op plan, but if you are ever in doubt then just ask.

    I'm a little concerned about...everything!

This is so awesome. Thank you for the blessing of sharing your story. I appreciate the follow-up to your original post. It is so good to see the fears turn to joy.

I Am Thankful For My Stall

I agree. The "stall" is when our bodies are doing the work of becoming smaller: dismantling and moving around the structure that supports our weight. Embrace the Stall!

    Hospital Stay Day or Days?

I stayed one night. I think for my surgeon, one or two nights is common when there are no complications.
  15. I too am glad you switched. Sounds like you are in good hands. That first program sounds a bit looney to me, too.

    Can't drink protein

You can dilute it. You can try different brands. You can try different flavors. But, you have to get in your Protein. When I was still on Clear liquids, I liked the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. Early out I used them undiluted over ice. Now I add them to Water and/or water and crystal light. I also like Syntrax nectar. In particular Fuzzy Navel. Try protein Soups like ProtiDiet tomato basil or creamy chicken or unjury chicken Soup. Try Premier Protein.

    Week 4 and stuck

I agree with what @@BLERDgirl said. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. As long as you are following your program then you are on track. The closer you get to goal, the more your weight loss will slow down. Embrace the Stall! There is a link in a previous post.

    Anyone skipped anti-DVT injections?

Talk to your surgeon about what he or she recommends. Pre-op, I had a difficult time walking, too, so I got an exercise peddler and peddled it with my hands while watching TV. I worked up to an hour a day. I think it really helped me to be ready for surgery. Are you able to do any Water exercise? If so, you may want to try some pre-op. Post-op you will have to wait about a month to get into the water so you will need to walk. Just keep in mind you won't need to walk miles. I just had to get up and move around periodically. I didn't have to go on a hike!

    NOT HAPPY

I agree. Take care of yourself and follow your doctor's orders. Ask about Water exercise. You might be able to do more exercise in the water earlier than other exercises and it's great for the joints.

    Frustrated and annoyed

I can understand your aggravation and frustration. But, please keep in mind that this a very busy time of year (lots of folks trying to get scheduled before the end of the year) as well a time when staffs are short due to the holidays. If you are in the U.S., then Thanksgiving week (before and after) can impact business transactions. Take a deep breath. I suggest you be patient, polite, proactive, and persistent. And, have faith that this will all work out.

Almost 1yr and still my is not happy

I don't still vomit because I never have. But, I also don't eat fried foods. Maybe you vomited because the plantains were fried/greasy? Does it happen often? Have you talked with your NUT?

I Am Thankful For My Stall

You are very welcome. A lot of years of pain, struggle, therapy, and recovery went into preparing me for this stage of my life. If I can share a little bit of what I have learned, it makes it worth it. Thank you, too @@Babbs for your wisdom, experience, and sense of humor (among other good qualities).

Thank you. I do aspire to be a Renaissance Woman, albeit a 21st century version.

LOL -- is that a polite way of saying I'm old-fashioned? I'll take it.

    Slow Weight Loss :/

Please remove the word "only" from your vocabulary. You lost one pound this week. Yeah! Even if you lost nothing or gained a pound this week you are on the right track. Stalls and slow downs are not "humps" to get over. They are part of the process. Most people experience their first one three weeks after surgery, if you plan to lose a significant amount of weight, then you will experience stalls and slow weight loss periodically. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. It is more like a stair-step pattern if you were to draw a graph. Follow your surgeon's program. Just focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
