    Exercise plans

Yes, I am a good swimmer, but it doesn't matter. You can: take Water aerobics classes (everything from low-impact arthritis classes to Zumba, Insanity, et) Take swimming lessons Water walk/run Use water weights Or, just attempt to swim laps. I used to be a lap swimmer. When I started swimming again at my highest weight I started with water aerobics and worked my way back to lap swimming. For a while I did a lot of backstroke! Now, I swim laps for about an hour and do other things (water weights, water aerobics, water yoga, etc).

    I THOUGHT I was sleeved...

Actually, that is a very common and smart practice for most surgeons.

    Exercise plans

My exercise of choice is swimming. I have been in the pool since I was cleared. As to stalls, they are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Protein ISSUES

I love the Luna bars but they are only 9g of protein and I can only eat half. Do you have any you recommend Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App My favorite are Quest bars. Power Crunch are pretty good, too.
  10. Stick with it the rest of the time. Don't continue to sabotage yourself. Will your surgeon cancel your surgery? That is up to your surgeon. My surgeon was very clear that if he opened me up and found my liver was not in good shape he would close me up and not complete the surgery. Ultimately, this is for your benefit so you can have the safest surgery possible.

    Post op liquid diet question

I actually had jello in the hospital. For me, if I took tiny bites it slipped right down.

    3 week stall?

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. We all experience stalls and just about everyone e experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and at least 64 oz of Fluid, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, exercise when cleared, stay off the scale, and Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall.

    Protein ISSUES

Protein is critical for healing and weight loss, as well as for general health. If you are not able to eat enough protein then you will need to eat more often. It is a challenge but is doable.

    Mexican tortilla soup?

All I can suggest is that you try it and see how it goes. I have never had issues with spicy foods. Some people do, some people don't.
  17. You have not failed. None of us lose at a co start or steady rate. Stalls and weight fluctuations are common. If you are eating only 700 calories, you actually may not be eating enough. What is your Protein target? Are you consuming at least that amount every day? Are you getting at least 64 oz of Fluid a day. Staying off the scale early out can be a great strategy of you are going to let the numbers on the scale dictate how you feel. Freezing!

I was. It is very common. Most of the blood from out extremities is being diverted to help with healing.
  22. Actually, it depends on your starting weight and your ideal weight. I anticipate that it will take me two or more years. I am over a year post-surgery and over half way to goal.
  23. I am reentering the job force right now. I was on disability when I had my surgery and recovery. I don't know your specific situation, but my advise is not to put off your job searching but be very realistic about what time you may need. You can start working on your resume and applying for jobs and continue to work toward your surgery date. You can think about start dates, etc when you get a job offer. Until then, it is all speculation.

My epic fail, need help and support

Another thing I would recommend for both the depression and general health and weight loss is exercise. Are you able to exercise? My favorite form of exercise is swimming. For me, getting in the water is good for both my body and soul.
  25. I agree that fasting doesn't sound like a very good strategy. I just posted this to another thread: If you are not clear on your post-op program, make an appointment with your NUT to talk about your goals and strategies for reaching those goals and your post-op food plan. I don't consider this a diet. What works for me: Follow my program. Track my food. Consume at least 64 oz of Fluid a day. Make sure I reach my Protein target every day (for me that is at least 100 grams). Avoid starches (bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes, etc), added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods. Take my Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise. Get enough restful sleep.
