  1. I used the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates during my clear phase. They tasted a lot better to me than the Isopure.

    Getting Hungrier Sooner

Do you have snacks in addition to your meals? Maybe consider a small protein snack 1 1/2 to 2 hours after your meals.
  3. Yes, Syntrax nectar is a good Protein shake. Check with your NUT to see if they are considered clear though. I liked ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates during my clear phase. They gave them to me at the hospital (undiluted over a little crushed ice). After a while I was able to dilute then with Water. I till use them in my water bottle and with water enhancers occasionally.

    Is it true

I didn't, but I wasn't supposed to gain either. This is something your surgeon has to decide. The more you weigh, the higher the risk of surgery. Some surgeon's have a maximum weight that they feel comfortable with. Some facilities have a maximum weight for their equipment. I am sure there are many variables that go into your surgeon's decision on whether or not to require weight loss.

    Researching, would love opinions

I was really hesitant to consider weight loss surgery. My surgeon had us take an online tutorial that explained the different procedures. What I saw of the sleeve (positive and negative) and a discussion with my surgeon persuaded to have the sleeve weight loss surgery. I don't really know if I would have gone through with surgery (at least not as eagerly) if he had recommended RNY for me. I have absolutely no regrets.
  6. Congratulations! Thanks so much for sharing your inspiring story.
  7. Definitely call your NUT anytime you are unclear about your particular program. My surgeon allowed some exceptions during my clear phase, one of which was premier protein.

    Exercising

I agree. Stay hydrated and take your time. I personally love the water, so once I was cleared to get in the pool I was happy. I started out slow and now I am regularly lap swimming and taking a water aerobics classes.

    Help!

This is a big decision, so do your homework and talk to your surgeon for what is right for YOU. I was sleeved and couldn't be happier with my decision, but everyone is different. By the way, you may get better responses if you start your own thread. Also, be sure and read other threads on this site. This question is asked almost daily so you should find lots of great information is already here. Best of luck with making your decision.

    Post op counseling visit

No, but it's a great idea. I am a huge fan of counseling and therapy when you need it.

    Foster children

Can I just say bless you for choosing to help in this way. I know there is such a tremendous need for good foster parents. I know that once you are recovered you will make a life-changing difference to some children's lives.

    Scared to finish the process

Yes, it is scary. This was my first surgery, too. What I have found is that what you are experiencing now, the pre-op fear and anxiety was the worst part of the process for me. I had a great recovery and am very happy with my results so far. I know that stepping into the unknown is scary, but believe me, I would do it again in a heartbeat now that I have made it to the other side.

    Week 2-3 Stall!?!

All non-carbonated, non-caffeinated drinks count toward my fluid totals. Just check to see if you are allowed milk on Clear liquids. You may have to wait until full liquids to use milk. As to agave, that is a question for your NUT. I don't use it so don't know.

Can you get too much protein after surgery

I doubt very seriously you can get too much Protein soon after surgery. My protein goal is 100 grams a day. I was sleeved so don't know if the bypass is different, but my surgeon said that there is no physical reason I wouldn't be able to drink 3 premier Protein shakes the day after surgery. It's not easy, but if you keep sipping, you can do it.

    Take a cleanse

I don't think cleanses are healthy either. I would suggest just making an appointment with your NUT and going back to basics.

    3 times 10 does not equal 70!

    I would use water.

    Professional Musicians

I have seen posts from musicians but don't remember who they are. Have you tried a search on the site?
  21. I am so, so sorry to hear about your son. Sending prayers and hugs to you and your family. Be gentle with yourself. I am glad you realize how important it is for you to stay healthy so you can be there for those who need you the most. Let us know what we can do.

    Well, duh! Meal sizes

Pre-op is completely different than post-op. Pre-op, your objective is to maximize volume but minimize calories while still getting enough nutrition. Post-op, we have to maximize nutrition while minimizing volume and eating food textures that will allow us to heal. It was drilled into my head from the beginning, that the keys to success post-op are protein and fluids. My primary focus is getting at least 100 grams of protein a day and 64 oz. of Fluid. Because there are different amounts of protein in different foods, the amount of ounces/protein grams varies. I track my food in MyFitnessPal so I can keep up with my protein grams. Also, keep in mind that we shouldn't have more than about 25 grams of protein at a time (a premier Protein shake at 30 grams of protein is really my upper limit). Wasn't this made clear as part of your pre-op nutrition class?

    Week 2-3 Stall!?!

@@Babbs is absolutely right. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. No one loses weight at a constant, steady, or predictable rate. If you intend to lose a large amount of weight, you will experience stalls periodically. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise. If you are going to let the numbers on the scale dictate how you feel, then consider weighing no more than once a week or less often. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

In need of Stage 2 recipes

I agree, what is your Stage 2? Mine was full liquids, so I really didn't use recipes.
