  1. Either 1) ignore the message until you are able to eat more calories and/or 2) don't "complete" the entry at the end of the day. MyFitnessPal is a great app. You can make it work for you even though it wasn't designed for our specific diet.

    Two years ago today.....

Congratulations! You have been an inspiration to me and I have learned a tremendous amount from your story. You are a true blessing.

    December Vs. March

You have to do what works for you but please weigh all the benefits and drawbacks of waiting carefully. How will this impact your insurance? Do you have a deductible that you have already met? What about your out of pocket limits? She probably looked at you so funny because at this time of year most folks are trying to beat the clock so their insurance costs won't start over. Plus, make sure you won't have to repeat pre-op testing or if you do that you are ok doing so.

    Smart man!
  6. You will get your energy back, you need to be patient. The sooner you are able to reach your Protein target on a daily basis, the sooner you will feel better. Be gentle with yourself and rest. You are healing from major surgery. Focus on getting in all of your protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed, and exercise moderately (walking is great early out).

    Need some help ladies!

I agree that you should talk frankly with whoever you are buying the dress from. They may let you order two dresses and return one. They may be able to schedule the order so you can place it later or have another solution. Also, keep in mind that not only do we lose at different rates, our body shape is unpredictable. You may lose faster in your upper body or vice versa, so depending on the design of the dress you might be between several sizes.

    Fluids HELP

Yes, for some cold water is easier, for others room temperature is easier, and for others warm water is easier post-op. For me, it has varied. I preferred room temp earlier post-op but it varies some now. Just sip it however you prefer. As far as I was told, any non-carbonated decaf beverage counts toward my Fluid totals, so decaf tea is just fine. As to vitamin injections, I think I received some in my IV while in the hospital but I'm not sure. Once I was advised to start taking Vitamins at I believe one week post op, I just took regular vitamins. My C and Calcium are chewable, my B-12 is sublingual, and the rest are tablets. I haven't had any problems taking them. Just don't take them all at once. My surgeon gave me a recommended schedule along with the recommended amounts. Best of luck with your surgery.

    trying again

Congratulations! It sounds like you have found someone worth getting to know: you enjoy each other's company, he seems mature, and treats you well. The awful part and the fun part about the process of dating (or so I have heard) is that you get to practice a lot before you need to make any decisions. Just take your time and enjoy the process!
  10. I think for me, how I learned to deal with stalls is the biggest difference from before the yo-yo dieting pre-op. Pre-op, when I hit an inevitable stall, it was easy to throw up my hands and give up. Often with my appetite urging me to do so. Now, not only have I learned how normal, natural, and necessary the stall is in the process of losing large amounts of weight, I have the evidence to prove that if I do what I am supposed to do and use the sleeve as a tool in the way it is intended, then I will lose weight (because of the stalls, not in spite of the stalls imho). If I didn't allow my body to do the important work it does during the stalls, my body would not be able to efficiently shed all this weight. Everyone stalls if they intend to lose a lot of weight. Just follow your program and stay off the scale. Make sure to get in all of your Protein and fluids, take all of your Vitamins and supplements as instructed, exercise and stay off the scale. 11. I didn't weigh until my one week follow up where I showed a loss. There is no rational reason to weigh the day after surgery. None. I can't imagine any surgeon encouraging anyone to get near a scale that first week.

I have been to gym everyday and still in stall!

Consider backing off on your exercise some until you are able to regularly reach your daily protein target.

    Not losing

Just focus on getting in all your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed, and exercise. If the numbers on the scale are driving you crazy, then consider weighing less frequently. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    I am PISSED!

What you are experiencing is completely normal. Plus, your hormones are going to be whacky for a while which will influence your mood which doesn't help. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the weight loss process. Most everyone experiences their first loss at about three weeks post-op. Just follow your program. Make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids every day, take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed, and exercise. If the numbers on the scale are going to drive you crazy, then consider weighing infrequently. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Eating if not hungry?

I find it important to make sure I eat, especially if I am not hungry, and especially early post-op. Like with staying hydrated, if I wait until I feel like it I have a very hard time getting in all my Protein and fluids. I actually am facing that today. I ate some relatively light meals and now I am going to be up way too late just so I can work in a Protein shake.
  17. Sounds like everyone is doing great! I am down about 160, but more importantly I am regaining my mobility and my life! I am swimming laps regularly and am able to swim longer and faster than I have in years.

I have been to gym everyday and still in stall!

Stalls are a normal, necessary, and natural part of the process of losing weight. Just follow your program. Make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed and exercise. If you are unsure if you are getting enough nutrition for your activity level, why not see what your NUT has to say? 20. The BariatricPal store may have samples. I think I've seen single-serve size but don't quote me on that.
  21. Get samples before you invest in a large size of anything. You can get sample packs of Syntrax directly from the manufacturer. Also, you can request samples or buy single-serve packs from others like quest. If you go to GNC they can let you taste test and also have a generous return policy.
  22. Have you tried the protein powders with just water?

    2 year weight record needed..

As the poster above mentioned, any doctor's records will do. That said, if you don't have them you don't have them. Have you done Weight Watchers or a similar program where you weighed in regularly? I would get the last records that you have, even if they were more than two years ago and go from there. Good luck.

    Planet fitness vs YMCA

I am partial to the Y (because I like swimming, Water classes, etc.) I have never been to a Planet Fitness. Don't let the cost of the Y scare you away before you talk to them. I know they can offer a sliding scale for membership based on need. Also, talk to your PCP. We have a wellness center affiliated with our hospital, and I away eligible for a discount because I was referred by my PCP. Sometimes a doctor's prescription will help you with fees and it's possible your insurance may have a benefit, too.

    Christmas Party what to eat?

It is great to plan ahead, but I wouldn't agonize over it. How far out after surgery are you? Is it a catered party? Is it potluck? Will it be a sit-down meal or heavy h'ourderve's (it figures autocorrect has nothing when I really need help with spelling on the fly). Talk to whoever is planning the party and see what is on the menu. It may not be too late to put in a special request if there isn't anything you can have. If it's a potluck, take something you know you can eat. Focus on eating Protein (turkey, cheese, etc.) are fairly common during the holidays. In a pinch, take a Protein Bar or other snack that you can have in your purse just in case. Eat ahead of time, too if you are unsure. That way you won't be starving when you get there. Most of all, have fun and enjoy yourself.
