    Surgery is tomorrow!

Best of luck with your surgery! I took/used: Clean underwear to wear home (I just wore the same clothes I arrived in home) A firm pillow for the ride home Chapstick Biotene Phone charger. I gave my mom charge of my phone so I wouldn't call/text while loopy. I also have her a list of folks who wanted to know when I was out of surgery and she texted them an update with my phone. A heating pad. I had some shoulder pain from the gas and was also really cold, so the heating pad helped.

Weight loss on track but I eat a LOT

Then doesn't that provide info on portions? I am confused. You say you don't understand portions but you do have access to portion information if you have it on the label. Just trying to help.

    Please analyze my stall

You are only getting 4-6 cups of Water and no mention of Protein. You may not be eating enough and are not drinking enough fluids. It is hard to tell with the information you posted. Are you tracking your food? Weighing and measuring everything? Are you following your plan? Are you getting in ALL of your protein and fluids every day? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? Have you talked to your NUT? Stalls are a normal, necessary, and natural part of the process of losing weight. If you are following your program, you should be fine. If you aren't following your program, then I encourage you to make an appointment with your NUT. Yogurt? Greek vs. all others.

The difference between regular yogurt and Greek yogurt is the protein content. We need a higher protein to carb ratio than regular yogurt provides. We have to learn to read labels very critically.

Surgery Dec.10! I'm so nervous! Help me?

Welcome! What you are experiencing is very normal. I know for me the anticipation and not knowing what to expect was the worst part of the whole process. I was sleeved April 20 and couldn't be happier with my recovery and results so far. Learn as much as you can so you can be prepared and then try to let go. Do you journal? Consider writing about why you want this surgery. What you want your life to be like. What your physical limitations and obesity keep you from doing now. Write about your fears and your hopes. Best of luck with your surgery and welcome to your new life!

You could have an herbal infusion (herb tea) instead.

If you don't weigh and measure how do you know how much protein you are getting?

Surgery Date and Christmas Liquid Diet

Get Syntrax nectar fuzzy navel and pretend it's a mimosa. I also love Harney and Sons hot cinnamon spice tea. They have it in decaf. They have Christmas spice but I haven't tried it. It may not be easy, but you will make it through!

    My 6 month check up!

First, if you want more specific answers, please consider starting your own thread so more people will see your question. Are you following your program? Are you getting in all of your Protein and fluids? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. No one loses at a constant or steady rate. Almost everyone experiences as stall at about three weeks post-op. If you aren't happy with your progress, consider talking with your NUT. 14. I am sorry you are disappointed, but please use it if you need it. Maybe like many other people who have sleep apnea, it's not caused by obesity. Not everyone who has it is obese. Or, you just aren't at a point where you can completely stop using it. When I saw my sleep doctor about a month after surgery, he switched me to an automatic machine that automatically adjusts pressure. Have you tried one of those?

    Pickle joy no more?

Early in the process (weeks after surgery) it's primarily about texture. Raw fruits and vegetables are hard, rough, jagged, and just generally hard to digest. We are on liquids and soft foods so we can heal from major surgery. Don't rush it. You will get to eat raw fruits and vegetables eventually. You need to give your digestive tract time to heal.

What can I do with...cottage cheese?

@@heather5565, definitely try it savory. I have eaten it both with sweet/fruit and savory but I prefer it savory.

Weight loss on track but I eat a LOT

Why are you even attempting to eat so much? Are you weighing and measuring your food? Are you following your plan? Are you getting in all of your Protein and fluids? I would suggest you make an appointment with your NUT if you are having trouble following your program and/or are unhappy with your progress.

    Very discourged

Is it a good idea to watch fat grams? I'm 6 Wks out and mostly low fat everything but it seems like the low-fat stuff has more carbs so I was thinking it might be better to go with higher fat low-carb when making choices. what do you think? I don't worry too much about fat grams. I try to choose naturally low-fat things like non-fat or low fat dairy products, lean meats like turkey, and healthy fats like fish, avocado, nuts, etc. I don't eliminate high fat, just minimize it. I like real bacon, but prefer turkey sausage. I eat real butter, mayo, etc., but I eat very small amounts when I do.

This is SO normal. I found that even pet food commercials seemed appetizing!

    20% Long-Term WL?

I have never seen any information about projected/expected weight loss for bariatric surgery that bases it on initial weight. All of the studies/data I have seen base it on excess weight.

    What I'm I doing wrong

What you are experiencing is a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Everyone experiences periodic stalls, and the first one usually occurs about three weeks post-op. We do not lose weight at a constant rate. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise when cleared (walking is great until you are able to do more strenuous exercise). If you are going to let the numbers in the scale drive you crazy, then consider weighing less often. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
