I eat oatmeal but make sure I add Protein. If I ate grits I would also make sure I added some protein --- cheese and shrimp sound good, too!

Actually, I was going through the disability process at the time I was preparing for surgery. It is not an easy process. It takes time and an attorney. The process is designed in a way that just about everyone is denied and you must go through an appeals process. The sooner you apply the better. Good luck!

When everyone else is drinking
Inner Surfer Girl replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drink what you want and is healthy: ice Water, tea, infused water, tomato juice, whatever. I am not in the habit of feeling the need to apologize or explain my choices. If you do, you may want to get a better class of friends. -
Stress ????

Interesting! I didn't know nicotine is in second hand smoke. So does that mean second hand smoke is addicting since nicotine is the drug that causes the addiction? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App http://m.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/tobaccocancer/secondhand-smoke -
Chewing but not swallowing

Does your Bariatric practice have a therapist or counselor on staff? I highly recommend that you don't do this and that you talk with your NUT or a therapist about healthy ways to address your challenges. -
Stress ????

It's more likely due to the nicotine. Second-hand smoke is just as bad as smoking. It's not good for a healthy person let alone someone healing from surgery. -
What apps do you use.

I use MyFitnessPal for tracking. In addition it ties in with my fitness tracker (misfit shine). I think it works with most fitness trackers. -
Consistent losing
Inner Surfer Girl replied to charley27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls and slow downs in weight loss. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight, you will experience stalls. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -
Stall at 2.5 weeks out.
Inner Surfer Girl replied to h.brooks661989's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just follow your program and make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight, you will experience stalls. Just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. Stress ????

I agree. It sounds like in the short term you may need to take your friend up on the offer for a temporary place to stay if your grandmother cannot adapt to your needs. In the long-term, this sounds like a great time to make a plan. -
8 days out can I eat eggs and turkey sausage?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to amiskinnyyet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know why you are expecting to vomit. If you follow your program, eat slowly, take small bites, chew thoroughly, and eat small portions there is no reason that I am aware of that you should expect to vomit. Yes, some people experience nausea early out, but from my understanding that can be a result of the anesthesia. I was given a nausea patch in the hospital to wear home. As to eggs and turkey sausage: what phase are you on? If you are on soft foods you can try them. I would try one new food at a time though to see how you do. Some people have difficulty with eggs early out. I also had a bit of issue with grease and fat. If the sausage seems greasy you may want to blot any excess fat/grease with a paper towel. The bottom line: go slow, follow your food plan, try one new food at a time, but focus on getting your Protein and fluids. -
I am taking a class this morning with an afternoon planning session related to prepping for NaNoWriMo (which is only one month away). Is anyone planning to participate this year?

Smoking after surgery
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Ninjagogo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon does not perform surgery on anyone who isn't smoke free and committed to staying smoke free. For your sake and your health, I hope you are able to take this opportunity to remain smoke free. -
Three days in and I am a bit behind but further than I thought I would be. I exceeded my word goal on day 1, didn't write at all on day 2, and got close to my daily goal on day 3. I will have to put on a big push tomorrow to catch up or even get ahead a little bit.

This whole process is an opportunity to practice patience, polite persistence, and perseverance. Just breathe and take the next right step that is in front of you. Everything will work out the way it is supposed to. Edited: because it was gibberish.

My exercise of choice is swimming. Once I was cleared to get in the pool I started with Water aerobics classes and worked back into lap swimming.

Period, constipation, stall or all of the above?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Water/fluid is key. Even if you use something like Miralax it really only works with lots of Water. Keep sipping. Staying hydrated, getting in all if your Protein, and staying off the scale are the best things to do right now. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -

Grocery-broth on sale-stock up?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to mbuczkowski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't really drink broth. I used ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato soups because: 1) they have more protein than broth, 2) were recommended/allowed by my surgeon even during my clear phase, and 3) taste pretty good. -

What do y'all think is wrong?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to tenseintexas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have no idea. It is good to hear you are staying in touch with your surgeon though. He really is the best person to diagnose and treat you.
