    Metabolism?

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Everyone stalls and most people experience their first stall about three weeks after surgery. Just follow your program, stay off the scale, and Embrace the Stall. http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  2. Based on my experience and that of others, the psych clearance is pretty easy. They usually give you a pen and paper assessment that is pretty standard so that is what takes most of the time. They just want to make sure you are capable of making an informed decision and know what you are getting into. If they identify areas that you may need help or support they may recommend some follow-up.
  3. We are all winners! I mean losers. We are all losers! A new WLS t-shirt slogan. "WLS. You won't lose if you don't enter." Over a picture of a person being wheeled into the OR. Edited: because my "ofs" turn into "ifs" and my "ifs" turn into "ofs" with alarming frequency.

    Actigall?

I was instructed to take mine until the prescription ran out. I agree that you should ask your doctor.

    Family likes to eat out

Yes, just order a side order of meatballs. I don't know why the would have a hard time just not putting the pasta on the plate unless they have pre-plated something which sounds strange for a pasta dish.
  8. Something tells me someone will hit the 4 million mark tonight. Since I have a really bad cold and just took nighttime cold medicine it won't be me. Good night, everyone!

@@MzB, do you like meatballs? That is what I get when eating Italian.

    Sleeve to big?

You mentioned that you'll have to track your Protein. Don't you track your food? How do you know whether or not you are hitting your protein target? Do you get at least 64 oz of Fluid a day? Frankly, I am surprised that if you have only lost 10 pounds over the last 10 months you haven't been working with your NUT before now.

    Need to plan off.

I am not sure exactly what you are asking and what you mean by "plan off". Do you mean transitioning from losing to maintenance? If so, that sounds like something your NUT can help you with. Why not make an appointment to talk about your goals?
  13. Inner Surfer Girl

    Made it to goal. Hurrah?

Congratulations! This is an awesome accomplishment. Just an idea, but maybe it didn't feel as momentous as it is because you have already been reaping the benefits of "hitting goal"? As they say, it's the journey and not the destination.

Slow weight loss after the sleeve

Sounds like you are right on track. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls. They are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Most of us experience a stall at about three weeks after surgery. Just follow your program. Make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed. Exercise. And, stay off the scale. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Excessive weight regain

Why not make an appointment with your NUT? Are you tracking your food? Are you reaching your Protein and Fluid target every day? Are you taking your Vitamins? Without specific information no one can help you answer your question.

    How sad is this?

They spend a lot of money to get our attention so don't feel too bad about it. Just think of all the money you won't be giving them!

    HELP! Cant stop eating!

Those snacks sound ok but none have Protein. How are you doing getting in all of your protein? If you aren't getting enough protein you will be hungry.

    Getting butterflies

It is really hard to drink too much water. That isn't something I would worry about at all. As for the leak test, my surgeon performed one during the surgery. Then the next morning I went through another one before I was allowed fluids (in between I was allowed all the ice chips I wanted ---LOL!). You have to drink this icky tasting stuff (basically soap so that if it did leak it wouldn't poison you) and they watch it travel through your digestive system. It was actually very cool to see how quickly Fluid passes through the stomach. Stomachs don't usually leak after surgery but it is possible. My surgeon said the biggest risk for leaks is from taking steroids. It's also why getting your Protein in is so important -- we need protein to heal.

    HELP! Cant stop eating!

One thing I have learned through this whole process (surgery, pre-op diet, liquid phases, etc.) is that whether I think I am hungry or really HUNGRY, it won't kill me to wait until my next planned snack or meal. I eat frequently in order to get my 100 grams of Protein so there is ALWAYS a meal or snack on the horizon. Drinking Water or making some tea or refreshing my Mio bottle will usually do the trick. If all else fails then it won't be the end of the world if I eat a small protein snack. Even a piece of fresh fruit occasionally is not the end of the world. The red flag is when your head is telling you to eat, eat, eat, even though you aren't physically hungry. For me that is a signal that something else is going on -- not hunger. If you don't have a counselor or therapist already, I suggest you consider finding one. A good book written by a therapist who works with WLS patients is called EAT IT UP! I found it really helpful. I credit all of the years of therapy and working with my food addiction for helping me through this whole process. The help has been invaluable.

Congratulations! These all sound like positives if you ask me. I know your husband leaving has got to have been painful and difficult, but it is his loss. You go girl!

    Gettin' jiggly with it...

This is great! I noticed that I first started getting jiggly while walking into my surgeon's office for my first post-op follow up. Even my mom noticed. You know those stalls everyone complains of? It seems to me that is when I tighten up more. Then I get jiggly again, then I tighten up, etc. I saw my PT for my lymphedema last week. We had put off heavy treatment until I had lost a good amount of weight after surgery. We are starting today. Anyway, she was REALLY happy that my legs are so jiggly. It is a good thing.

    Three years today

Congratulations! You are truly an inspiration and an example for how to live life fully. This is what I want. To be able to write something even close to what you have experienced would be a miracle for me. You show that miracles are truly possible. Thank you!

    Getting butterflies

It really is hard to describe. I didn't have an appetite after surgery but it is important to get in fluids and Protein so it is a completely different experience post-op from what we are used to pre-op. It is a total paradigm shift.

    400+ pounds?

I don't think any surgery "guarantees" a certain amount of loss. You still have to follow your program.
