Weight loss stalled
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Susan Lewis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no way I could eat 100 grams of protein in one meal. Who told you that? That is crazy! -
Weight loss stalled
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Susan Lewis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By the way, at only six weeks post-op, your priority should be protein and fluid/water. Getting 5 fruits and vegetables a day will have to wait until you are much farther out after surgery. You need the protein and water to heal and to lose weight. -

One meal of Protein is not enough. Our bodies can't digest more than 20-25 grams of protein at a time. That means for me I have to eat protein 4 plus times a day. You should have some protein at every meal and snack and eat the protein first. I would be curious to see what you were given for a post-op food plan. -
I sent you a message. I hope it helps. It looks like there is shape wear on sale today. I didn't look at the sizes.

My surgeon's guidelines for Protein for women: If you started out with a BMI of under 50 then your target would be 80 grams. If you started out with a BMI of over 50 then it would be 100 grams.

Fortunately, most of us can take for granted access to clean, quality Water. We know that drinking at least 64 oz. of water is crucial for health and for weight loss. With the Flint water crisis making headlines, I thought that sharing this article was very timely. How to test for lead in your home water supply http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/21/health/lead-testing-home-drinking-water/index.html

We are getting a big snow storm so I just filled up several water bottles and pitchers just in case. -

NSV - Shopping at a Regular Store
Inner Surfer Girl posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have had to order or have most of my clothes made for several years now. The last time I placed an online order for a sweater it turned out to be too big (even though I had measured a few weeks before). Today, I stopped at the local JC Penney and bought three sweaters a size smaller and they fit. This should tide me over through Christmas and New Years and I hope I can make it a couple of months before having to buy more since I don't mind sweaters that are a bit big. The next time I go in there I should be out of the Women's section, at least for my tops! -
Zulily often has shape wear on sale on their site. Let me know if you are interested in a discount code and I can PM you one.

Adding Swimming to my Exercise Routine

My wellness center has all kinds of toys: noodles, kick boards, weights, etc. The Y I used to belong to did, too. -

Since it is 2-3 cups of vegetables then you would measure by volume. -
Couch to Firefighter Physical in 2 months. Help!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to NYLux12's topic in Fitness & Exercise
To go from completely sedentary to being able to pass this kind of physical in two months sounds really unrealistic to me. I could be wrong, but this sounds like something you at need to talk to a physical trainer about. A trainer can help you put together a plan but I just don't know if it would even be safe to do in two months. Best of luck. Whether you are ready in two months or not I wish you all the best. Don't stop following your dreams. -

Where is your protein? Porridge, vegetable soup, fruit, and biscuits all sound like carbs to me. A splash of milk and some nuts aren't going to have much protein. My protein target is 100 grams a day. Were you given a protein target? For me critical success factors are: Getting at least 100 grams of protein and 64 oz. of Fluid, every day. Taking my Vitamins and supplements as directed, every day. Avoiding most starches and added sugar. Exercising. -
Psych evaluation questionnaire scares me!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to UpandAtom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on taking a big step in the right direction for your health. I had to fill out a lot of forms pre-op so it sounds like what you have is pretty standard. My recommendation is that you be as honest and thorough as possible. If you don't have enough room to answer succinctly then I don't think it would hurt to continue your answer and attach it on another sheet of paper. Ultimately, this is for your benefit so you can have the safest surgery and recovery. You will also most likely have a psych evaluation appointment so you can also elaborate with specifics in person. Best of luck and keep us posted on how you are doing. -
Low carb Purees or Thick liquids
Inner Surfer Girl replied to mrs w's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love cottage cheese. I like it with freshly ground black pepper and fresh tomato or even plain. Here is a thread with lots of cottage cheese ideas: http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/356614-What-can-I-do-with%2E%2E%2Ecottage-cheese%3F Personally, I eat the regular 4% but the 2% is pretty good, too. -

Bones for bone broth?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't but don't know why you couldn't ask. It also might be worth to just to buy a small chicken and use it to make chicken and broth both. I am sure the butcher can give you some ideas. -

I lived in Michigan for about 5 years (from the 8th grade until I went away to college). There is a special place in my heart for Michigan and Michiganders, and what has happened in Flint just breaks my heart. -
