    Dehydration question

What happens when you pinch the skin on the back of your hand and let go? Does it go back to normal or does it stay pinched? That is one indication of how dehydrated you are. The color of your urine is another.

    Meal delivery services

I used a local meal delivery service years ago for a while when I live in Atlanta. It was expensive but pretty good. What I learned was that it is fairly easy to put together a nutritious meal. Just focus on a delicious, high quality protein and add a vegetable to make a meal post-op. Occasionally, add a piece of fresh fruit.

    Confused

Our bodies are complex systems, not simple machines. I highly recommend weighing infrequently. Weighing several times a day or even several times a week gives you no actionable information. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

losing over 100 lbs has cracked my shell

You look great! For me, handsome and charming has nothing to do with size or weight and everything to do with how you treat yourself and others. Healthy self-confidence is a big part of it. Look at yourself in the mirror every morning, smile and say "I am handsome and charming." I bet you will start believing it pretty soon.
  8. No, you can't stretch your sleeve with liquids.

    How much protein

Pre-op, getting enough protein was critical, but what was more important for my surgeon was that I had absolutely no starches. My pre-op diet was basically Adkin's phase one.

    Spicy food?

I've never had problems with spicy food.

    How much protein

Mine is 100 grams. My surgeon recommends at least 80 for women with a starting BMI under 50 and at least 100 grams for all men and women with a starting BMI over 50.

    Ideas during clear liquid phase?

I liked ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. My program also allowed premier protein during my clear liquid phase.

    Starches

Although I wouldn't count oatmeal as a starch. It is a complex carb. Quinoa

    Gift for surgeon

I agree. Also, don't forget that it was a team that made your surgery a success both in and out of the operating room. I used to work for lawyers and there was nothing worse than seeing them get all the rewards/recognition when we knew who actually did all the work.

    Swelling

It really depends on why you have swelling. Have you been diagnosed with lymphoedema? Are you premenstrual? Are you drinking enough Water? I have severe lymphedema and lipoedema. Weight loss and exercise have really helped, but I still get more noticeable swelling when it is really hot and when I sit for a long time (like driving on a road trip). My favorite exercise is swimming. Staying hydrated is critical.

    Post-op 8/23/2016

Do what you can to increase your Protein as soon as possible. The sooner you can get your protein and calorie numbers up the better you will feel, the faster you will heal, and the better your weight loss will be.

Wow. Normally I would advise listening to your NUT, but from everything I have learned through this process both the calories and protein recommended seem extremely low.

Welcome! Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight, you will experience stalls. Just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. As you are doing, weighing infrequently is a great strategy if you allow the numbers on the scale dictate how you feel. The best thing to do in my experience is to: Follow your program. Track your food. Make sure you are getting at least 64 oz of fluid every day. Make sure you are reaching your protein target every day. (What is your protein target? Mine is 100 grams.) Avoid added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), starches, and fried foods. Take your vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Please keep in mind that not eating enough can be just as "bad" as eating too much when it comes to optimizing your weight loss. Has anyone had these issues

I have been reading your story and am so sorry you are experiencing difficulties. I pray you get the care and treatment you need. You and your family are in my prayers. By WLS do you mean the sleeve? WLS is the general acronym we use for weigh loss surgery.

Help with water intake and protein

When you are on liquids you aren't eating "meals". In my opinion it is much, much more important that you get enough Fluid and Protein. Your pouch should empty pretty rapidly during your liquid phases anyway since you no longer have a pyloric valve. Once you start eating solid foods then you can worry about not eating and drinking at the same time.

Help with water intake and protein

Why are you waiting 30 minutes? You need to be sipping all day until you get it all in. Protein and fluid are critical for healing. You definitely don't need to get dehydrated.
