Where do I put my scale ?

I weigh infrequently. Why the "rule"? Because the scale is just one measure of progress. Because obsessing about short-term fluctuations can make people crazy and isn't very productive. Because our bodies are complex systems and not simple machines. Because weight fluctuations and stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Because if you are following your program you will lose weight. Because life is too short!

Things I should get before surgery?

For the hospital all I needed was: lip balm, biotene spray, and a heating pad. Take a pillow for the ride home. For home: liquid Tylenol. See if you can fill your prescriptions beforehand. For the kitchen: food scale, measuring utensils, small storage containers, small utensils (appetizer or toddler size), small cups, plates, bowls. Food: Protein samples, Premier Protein, Mio drops/crystal light, ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, decaf or herb tea, ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil Soups, sugar free Popsicles.

    3 weeks out

I guess it depends on what you are doing whether or not you are doing something "wrong". Are you tracking your food? Are you following your program? Are you getting at least 64 oz of Fluid a day? Are you getting enough Protein? What is your protein target? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? Are you eating enough to support your exercise intensity? Are you avoiding starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods?

To eat or not to eat....

Can unjury be mixed well into hot foods? For me I can add it to warm foods (not too hot). If you order the unjury starter pack they send you a food thermometer.

    Vent of frustration

This is why I am so happily single. My guess is that up to now you have silently taken on most of the parenting, housekeeping, and general living duties and he hasn't had to be responsible for much. Now he is. Sucks to be him but if you got hit by a truck tomorrow he would have to step up at least until he was able to find a new wife/mother/housekeeper. I have no suggestions other than to kindly and firmly set your boundaries and expectations for what you need to recover and be healthy. Prolonging your recovery by not taking care of yourself is not going to help you or him in the long run. Good luck!

To eat or not to eat....

You have got to get in your protein. Even if you don't feel like eating you may need to eat more frequently with small protein-rich meals and Snacks.

Sad but nothing to do with bypass

Have faith that you will find the right job, not just a job. Those positions may be opening up because the job wasn't what was advertised, the boss may be awful, or any number of reasons. Just keep looking and stay positive.

    Sipping vs. Gulping

I don't think it would necessarily be damaging to your sleeve but it could be uncomfortable/painful.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Everyone experiences stalls and just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks post-op. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall.

    Fresh juice suggestion please

Thanks for the replyIf that is the case then what else shall i have instead of fresh juice ? Because I'm only having chicken broth , water and juice Is that all? How are you getting your protein? You would have to be drinking an awful lot of chicken broth.

    Fresh juice suggestion please

Instead of juice try Syntrax nectar fuzzy navel or GNC Lean 25 orange cream. They satisfy the taste for juice for me and have lots of protein.

At 4 weeks post-op I was on soft foods, so in addition to rote in shakes I ate cottage cheese, geek yogurt, turkey, tuna, salmon, protein Soup, etc.

    Uber-Noob to gastric sleeve

It may sound flippant, but skipping the extra piece of bread is a good strategy. One thing that helps me is to minimize starches (bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes, etc), added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods. Even cutting back on bread by trying an open-faced sandwich instead of a full sandwich is a good start.

    Can you see me

The more specific you can be in the subject line the more it helps. I know so sometimes quickly scan the topics and if it looks like something I already read or answered I may not open it.
  18. Make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids.Take your Vitamins and supplements. sleep and take it easy. Don't push yourself. You just had major surgery. You are allowed to rest.

    Meal delivery services

This is the one I used several years ago. It was helpful for a while. It helped me to get a handle on portion sizes, try some foods I wouldn't normally eat (like fresh fruit), and was pretty convenient. https://www.seattlesutton.com/

    Frustrated big time...

Does this get better? I don't know why not as long as you get enough nutrition. Eating enough is as important for losing weight as not eating too much. If you were sleeved in May, why aren't you eating enough protein? What is your protein target? Are you tracking your food? Are you getting at least 64 oz of Fluid a day? Major depression after surgery.

The combination of hormone fluctuations due to fat loss and an existing food addiction can be difficult. I agree that finding a good therapist can be extremely helpful. Your PCP is also a good person to talk to about finding some treatment options for your depression. You also may want to consider exploring attending bariatric support group meetings as well as a recovery group like Overeaters Anonymous to help you find healthy ways to cope without turning to food. You can find meeting lists and other resources online at OA.org.

    Tips?

Make a commitment to yourself to do everything you are asked to do, even if you think you can't. Get up and walk as soon as possible after surgery. Focus on getting in all of your protein and fluids. Sip, sip, sip. Stay off the scale!
