What can I do to help with my tiredness?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Jmonger's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! No offense to anyone here but I'm not the kind of person who can just relax and heal. I'm the kind of guy who will seriously over do things if left to myself. For me I just need to push myself. Obviously my motivation was to enjoy my beautiful wife. She is a strong motivator! This is a good opportunity to practice pushing yourself to rest and take it easy.I've never been "that guy". I've had one sick day in my entire working career. I don't go to work sick. I just find that if I'm not feeling well relaxing doesn't do me any good. Doing anything is soooooo much better for me. Honestly if it wasn't for the fact that I had family here after my surgery I probably would have grabbed my air tools and used my engine hoist for lifting the front fenders and hood off of one of my trucks off to tear down the top of the engine. I just don't have an off switch... You sound eerily like my last boss. Unfortunately, he died prematurely at 48 years old. I HIGHLY recommend you consider learning how to rest and relax. Especially when you are ill. -
Stall. I know, eye roll

I don't know. What is your protein target? 60 grams seems low. Mine is 100 grams. -
shake...shake your booty!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to SlimBra's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I liked Bariatric Advantage Calcium chews. I like premier Protein. You can get a sample assortment of syntax nectar directly from the manufacturer. You can buy single serve packs from Quest. I also like GNC Lean shake 25. You can get samples at GNC. unjury has a starter kit that includes a variety of samples. I also like ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, especially during the liquid phases. I don't know if you can get samples or not. -
Has any ate any solid food during there 2 wk post opt diet?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to sandy_p's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, I didn't. Anecdotally, at my first post-op nutrition class there were about 8 of us in the class. Everyone who ate off plan and didn't follow their program were miserable and experiencing problems. Everyone who followed their program were doing great. It made an impression on me. -
Protein snacks 3 weeks post op?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to JonteRaynal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you cleared for nuts and seeds? I wasn't cleared for those until much later. At three weeks I was still on soft foods. It is very important to follow your food phases post-op. I don't know what academic and onions is. Boiled eggs should be ok but may be too dry this early out. At three weeks, soft and moist worked better than dry food for me. That early out, Snacks and meals for me were the same foods: Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, turkey, Protein shakes, etc. -
Phase 4 - Cleared for Vegetables.
Inner Surfer Girl replied to trekker954's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Cauliflower should be fine to try. I ate a lot of green beans early out. Now I eat a lot of Brussels sprouts, asparagus, green beans, etc. I also eat a lot of tomatoes, especially now that they are fresh. -
When can I start having dairy products?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to JonteRaynal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started eating dairy products when I was on full liquids. As long as the texture is appropriate for the phase you are on I am not aware of any specific prohibition against dairy (unless you are lactose intolerant). Greek yogurt and cheese are pretty much staples for me. -
I was sleeved April 20, 2015, and have no problem eating salad. I just had a small one for dinner. Just eat your Protein first, eat slowly, and chew thoroughly, and you should be fine.

Actually, this is incorrect.

Said NO to anti inflammatory and even NO to steriod shot
Inner Surfer Girl replied to trekker954's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How far out are you after surgery? My surgeon warned about taking steroids after surgery as they can inhibit healing and dissolve the suture line in the stomach. -
I am on my phone so don't have access to chat. If you have any specific questions, post them here and I'll answer if I can.

What happens when you dont get you protein?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Pinkberry2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein is critical for healing and weight loss. Side effects of not getting enough protein (in my educated opinion): Slow healing Complications Lack of energy Muscle Loss hair loss Skin problems Nail problems Slow or no weight loss (other than muscle loss) Do everything you can to get in your protein and fluids. Sip line it is your job! It gets easier but keep at it. -
Has anyone weaned off vitamins?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to KaiserKid's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
At a year out I was advised I could drop all the extra vitamins and to just take a multivitamin. Most modern adult human beings need a multivitamin whether or not we have sleeve surgery so to me it isn't a burden. I have always taken a multivitamin. -

By the way, you want to be as healthy as possible going into surgery. 500 calories a day is not healthy. -

I recommend that you follow the recommendations of your program. You do not get bonus points for restricting nutrition and it can be extremely counterproductive. -
Next step... sleep study. And totally scared.
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Terri70's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on your insurance, your surgeon, and whether you have symptoms of sleep apnea. I didn't because I had already been diagnosed and am being treated for sleep apnea. It is a comorbidity. So if you need a comorbidity to be approved through insurance, it is a very common one. Some surgeon's require testing, especially if they suspect sleep apnea, because sleep apnea can be deadly, especially if you are having surgery. Plus, a good nights sleep is critical for healing and for general health. -
I guess it depends on what you are doing whether or not you are doing something "wrong". Are you tracking your food? Are you following your program? Are you getting at least 64 oz of Fluid a day? Are you getting enough Protein? What is your protein target? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? Are you eating enough to support your exercise intensity? Are you avoiding starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods? Thanks for replying I am really not tracking my food. Have a very hectic schedule. I don't think i am meeting my Proteins and Water intake. How much is 64oz ? Manage to drink about 1l a day. Dint start exercising yet , planning to start next week. I am not eating any starches, sugars except on my bday few days ago. So maybe you can guide me please. Its scary and frustrating not to lose anymore For me, tracking is critical for making sure I reach my protein target. I use MyFitnessPal, a free app, because it is really easy. My protein target is 100 grams. Did your surgeon give you one? Do you have a NUT? 64 oz is 64 oz! One cup is 8 oz. So 8 cups is 64 oz. Or, 3 20 oz bottles plus more.

Preteen with growing weight problem
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Chicken Lady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In my unprofessional opinion it is more likely puberty than PCOS. If her mom is a strict vegetarian, it entirely possible her daughter may be malnourished/protein deficient unless she is on top of her nutrition (and most 11 year olds that I know aren't nutrition experts). When my niece was vegetarian she seriously thought she could live on French fries. Puberty is a very dangerous time for developing eating disorders. Often because of an overreaction to some natural weight gain as our bodies are developing. I wish I knew the answer. I'll see if I can find a book or other resource. -
Brussels Sprouts (instead of fries) with my lunch.

Mine is under a table in my bathroom. I have to physically get it out to weigh.
