I don't think it was meant to be an insult

  2. Thanks for replying I've already chosen a window seat as I hate aisle seats - I'm tall so something always gets knocked - my elbow, my foot, my knee - depending on how I'm sitting. I was savvy and booked premium economy so I have extra leg room and a bigger seat, though I sit fine in normal seats really. I wasn't sure if it was okay to be taking things like immodium, but if others are and it's fine then i'll get some from the airport - thanks for the heads up! It would be a good idea to talk with your surgeon about your travel plans. He or she might have some suggestions about what meds to take as well as thoughts on preventing blood clots. Definitely plan to get up and walk frequently. I also know that some people who travel long distances wear compression hose or similar. Stay hydrated, too. Planes can really dry you out. Water and tomato juice/V8 are good choices from drink service.

    Regrets that got better

No regrets. Although like others have said, I wish I would have done it sooner, realistically I did it when I was ready and it happened when it was supposed to happen.

    Communication Styles: Men vs. Women

I definitely believe communication is a skill and that for those who have difficulty communicating they can learn better skills, especially through practice.

Pre op VSG in Ky looking for similar.

Where are you having your surgery?

    Calories Don't Matter?

That is why instead of avoiding all carbs, I focus on avoiding starches and added sugars.

Yes, absolutely do a photo shoot. That would be so fun! If you get a chance check out the TLC show Love at First Swipe. If anything it would give you some ideas for improving your profile.

Pre op VSG in Ky looking for similar.

I am not at the beginning (I was sleeved April 20, 2015 by Dr. Weiss at Georgetown), but I am Kentucky so wanted to say "hey". Welcome aboard!

    Three Months Post Op Success

Congratulations! I understand that not tracking seems to be working well for you, but how do you know whether or not you are getting enough Protein? Just curious. My surgeon suggests only 40-50 g of protein a day so it's really easy to get into that ballpark without obsessing over grams. A cup of yogurt, a handful of nuts, Collegen powder in a green smoothie or a cup of coffee and some cheese usually does the job. 40-50 grams of protein seems really low. Is that the protein target ongoing or was that just the target in the few days after surgery when it was harder to get in protein? This is first time I think I have ever seen a protein target under 60 grams, and most are closer to 80-100 grams. Mine is 100.

    Communication Styles: Men vs. Women

This sounds great. We as a society certainly don't write enough letters anymore, but it can explain why so many people meet and fall in love on the Internet before they have even met each other in person.

    Calorie intake

This is a great question for your NUT. The number that drives everything is your Protein target,

    Warning: I'm hungry and whining

This is definitely something you need to talk to your surgeon and NUT about so they can make sure you have a diet that is right for YOU.
  13. Here is an interesting article about some recent research findings related to calorie burning thresholds. More evidence about how our metabolism is a complex system. Here's why you exercise so much and still can't lose weight http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/28/health/weight-loss-exercise-plateau/index.html

    Best Grocery Store Finds!

Thank you, my friend. I will check them out. What is your opinion of the crispy pork rinds? You are welcome. I don't eat pork rinds so have no opinion. I have never tried them and don't have a desire to.

    Confused about quantity of food

It sounds like you might want to call your NUT for some clarification. I would guess the "no more than 2 oz." is based on solid food, not liquids.
  16. I am so sorry you experienced this but am glad you got a good diagnosis and treatment. I've never had one but my mom said hers were worse than childbirth. My brother-in-law gets them, too.

    Aqua Zumba

I swim with a rashguard. I am not fast and don't compete so I don't mind a bit of drag. As far as I am concerned it it adds resistance its a good thing. All I can suggest is to try it and see what you think.

    Confused°

Just because the numbers on the scale aren't moving doesn't mean your body isn't doing a tremendous amount of work to become smaller. Think of stalls as as necessary to your weight loss as sleep is to your overall health. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate and stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Enjoy the size 16 jeans! You probably won't be able to wear them for very long. Medicine for colds

I have had good results with Tylenol Cold and Flu (multisymptom day and night). I also like to use a saline mist like Ayr for my congestion and Ricola sugar free cough drops.

    Book Suggestions

I don't know why I didn't think of it yesterday, but you will want to read our very own Queen of Crop's book: Queen of Crop: A Year in My Life After Weight Loss Surgery https://www.amazon.com/dp/9082351803/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_JkV1wbN14XHR6

    Is this it ?

I agree that you may not be eating enough. Also, if you are only getting 60 oz of Fluid, drinking coffee (caffeinated?), and exercising a lot you may need a lot more water. 64 oz is a minimum and it is my understanding that anything with caffeine shouldn't count toward that 64 oz and that you would need more water to flush out the caffeine. Exercise and Plateaus

I understand, but please don't cry. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Just follow your program, focus on getting in all of your Protein and Water, avoid starches and added sugars, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, stay off the scale, and exercise. I wear mine all the time but if you want something you can take off they do have zippered jackets that would be easier to take on and off.
