Bypass vs. Sleeve
Inner Surfer Girl replied to caligirltt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started super morbidly obese and I got the sleeve. I couldn't be happier with my experience, my recovery, and my progress. It really comes down to what is best for you. Learn as much as you can about all the options but ultimately talk with your surgeon about what is right for you, Best of luck. -

Any good low carb recipes?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to rydersmama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you go under the food and Nutrition forum there are a whole lot of recipes. -
Sugar, Not Fat, is the Culprit
Inner Surfer Girl replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
You really have to read the labels of everything. One of my favorite examples is reduced fat peanut butter. It is reduced fat because they add corn syrup. -
Sugar, Not Fat, is the Culprit
Inner Surfer Girl replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
According to my surgeon the US has an epidemic of scirosis (sp?) of the liver due to high fructose corn syrup consumption. It is in everything. -
Scared to eat different foods
Inner Surfer Girl replied to rydersmama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Carbs are not the enemy. We do need some carbs. I generally avoid starches and added sugar (for the most part). -
Texture-wise it would be soft. Nutrition-wise I think you can make better choices. You will have very little room for food on the soft phase, at least I did, so just about everything you eat will need to be very high Protein and/or high in other nutrients.

CPap Machine question

I couldn't sleep it was blowing so hard. Believe me, I could tell. -
6 months and at a stall
Inner Surfer Girl replied to katdelgado's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Are you: Still following your program? Getting in all of your Protein and Fluid every day? Avoiding starches and added sugars? Taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Avoiding carbonation? Not drinking and eating at the same time since you had the bypass? Eating slowly and mindfully? Exercising? Have you talked to your NUT lately about your goals and to make sure you are eating enough? Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -
I don't but just wanted to welcome you. I don't know if there is anyone on here who has it but you may want to ask your surgeon if he or she has had any patients with MS. Best of luck. I hope you are able to get your questions answered.

My favorite treat is a massage. And buying myself flowers.

What do you eat before and after a work out?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to skp's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I eat breakfast before I swim and then have a snack afterwards. -
My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Me, too. It was a big step for me to even watch the show let alone admit that I could qualify to be on the show. I would never allow myself to be vulnerable enough to be on that show so am also grateful for those who have taken the risk. -
Stalls and stress! Advice?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ZombieQueen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Slow down, take a breath, and take care of yourself. Do you have a therapist? Have you attended any support groups? I find that exercise is a good stress reliever. So is getting a massage. -
I have a dilemma! Help please
Inner Surfer Girl replied to FayBee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is so great! Life is too short to work somewhere that doesn't put health and family first. It sounds like you are in the right place. -
My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just finished watching Randy's story from last night. He was a great example of someone who treated the weight loss like a competition and so skipped meals and didn't get in his Protein. Unfortunately, it landed him back in the hospital but fortunately I think he changed his approach. I know we don't see everything, but he was definitely someone who could benefit from a good therapist, Between the overweight family, his over-competitive dad, living at home, working in the family business, not to mention his daughter, I hope he is getting help dealing with his issues. He did seem to get it by the end of the episode. I look forward to seeing his follow up. -
You could but it would be a waste of protein and money. Our bodies only metabolize about 20-30 grams of protein per hour.

Congratulations!

CPap Machine question
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Marie2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not free of the CPAP, but within a few weeks after surgery the pressure was too high so my sleep doctor switched me to an automatic machine that automatically adjusts the pressure. -
I am so ready for SPRING!!!
-
same here - as I sit at my desk looking out the office building window at the snow falling down...I want spring and daffodils and tulips!
-
Spring is here as far as I'm concerned. It's a mental thing and there is no other season that is more appropriate for folks finding their health. We've made it through the Winter of our lives and are now shedding the trappings of the cold and feeling the sun on our faces and breathing in all the smells of the world coming back to life.
Spring has sprung !!!!!!

Here is a good article about differences in men am women's communication styles and the importance of asking questions (and listening to the answers I presume). http://qz.com/628724/the-gendered-way-weve-learned-to-ask-questions-is-terrible-for-both-men-and-women/?utm_source=atlfb

9/2/15 - Can't Eat Enough
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Scout1702's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
To me it is as easy to eat cottage cheese or Greek yogurt as to drink a Protein shake. I agree. What are you eating? Do you plan your meals and Snacks? Are you tracking your food? What is your protein target? By the way, congratulations on the weight loss. You look great! -
