You will be fine. Just take one day, on hour, one minute at a time. There are many threads on this site with recommendations for Protein supplements and other surgery supplies. In my experience, it helps to start with samples of different supplements until you determine what you like post-op. I like Premier Protein, GNC lean shake 25, Syntrax nectar, ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates (especially during the clear phase), ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil Soups, Mio drops/crystal light, Herb tea, etc. Good measuring utensils, a food scale, and small food storage containers are also helpful. For the hospital, I used lip balm, biotene spray, and a heating pad (for gas pain and because I was cold). If you haven't already weaned yourself off of caffeine and carbonation, now is a good time because you really don't want to have to deal with caffeine withdrawals post-op. I got a blender but barely use it. I use a shaker bottle more than a blender.

Triggers and how to cope with it
Inner Surfer Girl replied to karine76's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In addition to therapy and counseling, you may also want to consider exploring Overeaters Anonymous. There are meeting lists and other resources, like podcasts, online at OA.org. A good book you may want to read is EAT IT UP! There are other books that you may find helpful, Luke anything by Geneen Roth. -
I agree. I watched the first episode/pilot of THIS IS US yesterday and loved it!

HOW DO YOU KEEP A SCHEDULE OF FOOD, VITAMINS, AND MEDICATION?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to RedE2Go's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon's office gave me a suggested Vitamin schedule. If it is confusing, it can help to get out a pen and paper, write everything down, and come up with a schedule that works for you. Early out, I was sipping something all the time in order to reach my Protein and Fluid targets. -
The saga continues. I went into the mall today (the first time in decades) and went to Soma for bras. I was able to get 2 on sale.

Which oil to use for scrambling an egg?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to RonnieBob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use olive oil (or butter!). You can get an olive oil mister if you are concerned about amounts. -
The "No" is for novel, but you can write memoir or creative nonfiction. The definitions are really loose.

Bariatric Cream Soups and Phase 2 Post-Op Diet
Inner Surfer Girl replied to RonnieBob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know. At that stage I was just sipping something all day. I didn't really focus on meal times. I just made sure I was sipping something that would get me to my protein and/or fluid targets. -
I would start shopping now and explain your situation. A good seamstress/alteration service and understanding sales person can help you plan a strategy. Prayer works, too!

I just wore a loose dress and took an extra pair of underwear to wear home.

Really?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to northcountyr1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does your NUT suggest? I really don't focus on calories as much as Protein. For me, the critical number is protein. The calories are relative to your protein as well as your activity level. You don't want them too low or too high. -
Really?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to northcountyr1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to get a minimum of 64 oz of fluid and closer to 90 grams protein than 60 grams and see what happens. -

How are you doing at getting in all of your Protein and fluids? You may just be on a stall. -
4th day post-op, afraid I'm not getting enough protein or water
Inner Surfer Girl replied to jolomom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Keep sipping. I was sleeved and didn't have to leave any time between protein shakes and other fluids. I was also able to count all my fluids toward my fluid total, including protein shakes. Just sip, sip, sip. I sipped all day and didn't go to sleep until I hate met my goals. It gets easier. -
Liquid stage question
Inner Surfer Girl replied to sumochik's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During the clear liquid phase my surgeon allowed ProtiDiet tomato basil and creamy chicken protein soups. Other soups weren't allowed for me (other than clear souls) until I was on full liquids. -
Exercising?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to christinah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't do anything other than a little walking until I was cleared to get in the pool. I have been swimming ever since. -
I have DVRd it but not yet watched it.

How much are you eating? This sounds like a signal that you may have overeaten. Try slowing down and watching your portion sizes.

New headshot for work
Inner Surfer Girl replied to mngreeneyes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When I got mine replaced here in Kentucky she offered to print out a screen shot of the old one for me to keep. -
I don't know about you, but after WLS I go through an awful lot of yogurt cups, Water bottles, and even have empty tubs of Protein powder on occasion. What are some creative ways you have upcycled after surgery? Have you upcycled clothes or other things you no longer need now that you are losing weight? Have you found new uses for old things? I would love to hear your ideas and even see pictures!

8 days Post OP meal
Inner Surfer Girl replied to dwinters15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 8 days post-op I was on full liquids, which thankfully included Greek yogurt. Please be safe and follow your program. If in doubt, call your NUT to see what you can have. Following your program really is for your benefit. -
Advice Needed - Choosing to proceed or wait?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to icyblufrz88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is up to you. Do keep in mind that there is an expiration date on all of your pre-op testing. My surgery was delayed for financial reasons so I had to complete a lot of pre-op testing twice. That added more time and more expense to the process. The good thing is that by the time my date rolled around I was more than ready. In my opinion, the major benefit to having surgery is that it works so much better than all of my pre-op weight loss attempts. By the time I had surgery it was almost impossible to just maintain my weight my metabolism was so broken with yo-yo dieting. I was one "diet" away from 600 pounds. I knew the next bounce would put me over the top and I was practically housebound and immobile. Now, post-op, my efforts give me results. If you are happy with the results by doing this on your own, my guess is that if you have surgery you will be thrilled with the results of the same amount of effort. The sleeve has really made a difference for me. Best of luck with your decision. -
16 Days Post-OP and loving it!

I absolutely relate! Nothing makes you appreciate the deliciousness of simple food better than a prolonged liquid diet! -

Needing advice
Inner Surfer Girl replied to wanna_be_thin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It is hard to know what to suggest without more information. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. It is possible that you are just on a stall. Are you tracking your food? Are you following your food plan? Are you eating Protein first? What is your protein target? Are you consuming at least that much every day? Are you drinking at least 64 oz of fluids. Are you avoiding starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods? Are you practicing mindful eating: eating slowly, taking small bites, and chewing thoroughly? Are you exercising? Are you eating enough to support your exercise? Have you talked to your NUT about your concerns? Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
