    Good Place to Start

Welcome. I am so sorry to hear that even with insurance it will be cost prohibitive. It is great to hear that you are still committed though. My insurance didn't cover my surgery at all, so I had to do some exploration myself. Because I am on disability, I was able to find a program through our State's vocational rehab program that paid for the surgery. I had to pay for some of my pre-op testing, etc. myself (some covered my my insurance and some not), but it was a big help. If you are in danger of losing your job due to your health or even underemployed because of it, it might be an option for you.

    Am I done?

Try eating a little more and aiming to hit closer to 100 grams of protein rather than 70 grams. I also agree that you might want to shake up your exercise routine a bit. How is your mobility? Could you sign up for an exercise or dance class? My favorite exercise is swimming. It's good for both my body and soul.

    Am I done?

You mention Water and calories but not Protein. What is your protein target? Your calories SEEM low, but without more information it is hard to tell. Have you talked to your NUT lately? If you are exercising intensely you might not be eating enough. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

Protein and calorie deficits after surgery

If you need to stick to no supplements then you will just need to eat more often. You have to get enough Protein.

Marketing to plus-sized women = Fat-shaming. Low blow, bold response.

I like inexpensive clothes as much as anyone, but I really don't want to help perpetrate worldwide labor abuses. My sister-in-law is Chinese and I know that a lot of good comes out of China, but I have a very hard time buying cheap anything from Chiba knowing their record on labor abuse. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to tell where most things are manufactured since there are so many steps in the production process.

Good advice, except you might want to be careful about the taste.

    Can you eat chocolate?

I didn't have RNY, I was sleeved, so take this in context: I eat chocolate all the time: Chocolate Calcium chews Chocolate Protein shakes Chocolate protein pudding Chocolate Protein Bars Chocolate PB2 Chocolate protein hot chocolate Chocolate tea You get the idea. I even have had on occasion some real, rich dark chocolate (no cheap crap -- if I am going to eat the real stuff it is going to be good).

The first link wouldn't load. I did read the second or third. I get her point but the first thing I thought when I read the 2nd link is "Isn't Alibaba a site that sells Chinese knockoffs?" They probably just picked the largest slave laborer in their employ and made her "wear" the leggings so they could take a picture. They probably don't have a lot of plus-sized folks working for them. Am I bad?

Less than 2 weeks out and not losing weight

I agree. Stay off the scale and focus on what you CAN control: following your program. Make sure you are reaching your Protein target every day. Make sure you are exceeding your Fluid target every day. Avoid starches and added sugars. Eat slowly and mindfully. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. And, stay off the scale. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Protein requirements

Every surgeon and NUT are different. I was sleeved April 20, 2015 and my protein target is 100 grams a day. According to my surgeon's practice the targets are: 100 grams a day for a men and anyone with a starting BMI of over 50. 80 grams a day for women with a starting BMI of under 50. It seems to me that most good surgeon's have a target of at least 80-90 grams.

Protein and calorie deficits after surgery

I am normally the first person to say listen to your surgeon, but from everything I have learned, he is insane. You NEED more protein, however you get it. You need protein to 1) heal from surgery, 2) so your body doesn't starve, and 3) so your body KNOWS it isn't starving and will release weight. Do you have a good NUT? If your surgeon is doing this alone without a NUT on staff I would b concerned. My excellent surgeon, who has outstanding results has me get 100 grams of protein a day, every day starting from he day after surgery. As far as he is concerned, protein supplements are essential to help us get in all of our protein until we are physically capable of consuming most or all of our protein from food. What I know is that to heal, and lose weight, my body NEEDS enough protein. I would be really curious to see how his other patients are fairing both short term and long term on such low protein. If anything, again from everything I have learned, most programs have INCREASED protein requirements over the last couple of years because of recent research results. How experienced is your surgeon?

    Protein, protein, protein!

In addition to premier, Syntrax and unjury, I liked: GNC Lean shake 25 (orange cream is my favorite); ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates; ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil soups; WonderSlim dark chocolate pudding; and ProtiDiet hot chocolate.

How do you reward yourself for milestones?

One of my favorite rewards is a massage. I just got one yesterday (2 Celebrate 200 pounds lost from my highest weight). It was heavenly. I hope to schedule one every 25 pounds lost.

    Protein Diet

How far out are you after surgery? What is your protein target? As long as you reach your protein target this looks workable. You may have to split your dinner in half and eat it at different sittings. 6 oz of meat and vegetable may be a lot, especially if it is a dense meat.

    Calcium citrate plus Vitamin D

What does your surgeon's post-op instructions say? I was given a list of recommended Vitamins with dosage amounts and a recommended schedule.

    Eating Disorder

I am so sorry for your loss. Sending you hugs and prayers.
  21. I just wanted to post today because I hit a significant milestone. I am in the 300's! My scale this morning read 398.8 and I am thrilled. I can't remember the last time I was under 400. It has to have been over a decade ago and maybe two. I was really good about sticking my head in the sand for a very long time. Just saying the numbers out loud is a huge change for me. I also started treatment on my lymphedema a couple of weeks ago. I met with the PT pre-surgery and we decided to wait until after surgery to start aggressive treatment. It already seems to be helping. I am also starting a creative writing class this evening in a neighboring city. I couldn't have done that a year ago, especially in the winter time because I was having such a hard time getting around. Now, I need to schedule my next reward massage!

    Lymphedema Treatment

How is this for cute boots? After a couple months of PT, we were able to get the boots for home treatment. Now, I can do treatment at home (3x a day).
