    Staying Motivated

LOL, when I was in college I used to pick a guy in every class to crush on so I would go to class!

Would you move where has someone died?

As to haunted houses, I live in central Kentucky and know of a couple of "haunted houses" that are old but very well kept up and quite nice. I guess it depends on the nature of the "haunting"!

Another example of not fitting into the world

To follow up in this, I am down 200+ pounds from my highest weight (with a long way to go) and I have started to feel comfortable going places without having to worry about fitting. I went to a book signing this weekend and didn't scope out parking and seating ahead of time and did fine. There are miracles every day.

Would you move where has someone died?

Good point. But, just to nitpick --- stroke, ALS, and cancer are natural causes. Maybe premature in the modern sense but certainly natural. Gone are the days of women dying at age 40 (or much younger) in childbirth and men dying in large numbers on the battlefield.
  8. You definitely need to take most Vitamins with food. No wonder you have been nauseous, especially if you are taking a megadose on an empty stomach. Talk to your surgeon or PCP if you need strategies for taking vitamins successfully. My surgeon gave me a whole page with a recommended schedule, dosages, etc.

Liquid diet phase: Is honey in tea OK ?

I don't drink sweetener (artificial or natural) in tea. Why not try it without anything and see if you like it. One tea that is plenty sweet without anything added is Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice. I love it and there is a decaf version that tastes great.

    Not enough protein

If you don't get enough protein you will: Slow down your healing. Slow down your weight loss. Slow down your metabolism. Lose your hair. Negatively affect your muscles, skin, and other organs like your heart. If you are young, it will stunt your growth. You can eventually die (from heart problems, etc.)

Easter Recipes, Tips, and Tricks…Post ‘Em Here!

Roasted asparagus! Fresh asparagus. Break off woody ends. Place on baking sh her or tossing pan. Drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and or seasoning. Put in oven (I use a convection toaster oven set to about 375) until roasted. Delish.

    Thinking about a sleeve

Make sure the hospital you choose is covered by your insurance and is a Bariatric Center of Excellence.

Are you taking a PPI? Post-op, many of us take a PPI, at least for a few months because stomach acid can mimic hunger.

    What I Do

Congratulations! It sounds like you are doing great.
  15. I do take my vitamins when I remember but they always make me feel nauseous...and I was told they were for life too.I have gone without exercise and still lost weight, but I guess the stomach has stretched now so I can't rely on no exercise.I have a good Multi..its a PreNatal..Iron,Magnesium,Vitamin D..and a thyroid health one.Yes I don't always have my protein first...maybe I need to consciously get the protein in first. I have done the pouch reset a few times in the last 2 years and it does make a difference..maybe I need to do that again. Definitely need to rebook and appointment and get back on track. In the past, when I have taken a single vitamin that has a megadose of vitamins and minerals, it has made me nauseous. Now, in addition to just a regular multi-vitamin, I take different supplements. None of them make me nauseous. Have you tried different vitamins?
  16. Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out.

    Eating after surgery

Definitely follow your post-op food phases and program. You have to think about two things: texture and nutrition. My primary goals are Protein and fluids. When I was on soft foods (three weeks post-op) I did have Taco Bell pintos and cheese (on the way home from one of my post-op appointments). Tortilla, ground beef, and rice were definitely not on my list of approved foods at day 12.

    Pureed question - spices/salsa?

Try it and see. Some people have issues with spice but others don't. Fortunately, I haven't had any problems with spices or heat.

    Scared to eat different foods

Its so hard to not have carbs when they are in everything I eat. Even oatmeal so I don't worry so much about them. I just try and make sure that they are as low as possible . My nut told me no fruit because there is too much sugar but I have a Halo or Cutie or 2 almost every day. I don't actually eat them just suck the juice out. Sounds weird but it satisfys me. Everyone is different,In my opinion, you would be better off eating the halo or cutie rather than just sucking out the juice. The juice is where all the sugar is and the flesh and pulp is where you get the fiber. You might as well just be eating straight sugar if you think just sucking out the juice is somehow a good alternative. SMH.I know everyone has there own opinion's but I was told by my Nut to not eat the halo because it has to much pulp which is not good for my sleeve. Her suggestion and also my surgeon suggestion was if I wanted to have one only suck the juice out so I do. I am 4 months after surgery. No offense intended, I just think it is strange and counterproductive. Did they give any reason why they thought the pulp of a halo would be bad for your sleeve at 4 months post-op? That in itself sounds strange to me. How is disagreeing rude?

Surgery is in 3 days OMG!

    Best of luck everyone!
  21. That functionality hasn't been added to the mobile apps, yet. Your best bet is to update your profile on your phone or computers browser. It appears that we have lost the ability to search all of the forums on the app like we used to be able to do. Now, I have to go to each individual forum to search. That is ok if I know what forum to look in or if a topic or thread is in the right forum, but not so much otherwise. Any chance you will add back a full site search?

    Wish for more success

It sounds like you are doing great. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Are you still following your program and getting in all of your Protein and fluids? None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. Embrace the stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Calories and Carbs

I don't avoid ALL carbs, just starches and added sugars. We have to have some carbs to survive. I focus on my protein and water, avoid starches and added carbs, and my calories and carbs work out.

    Just finished surgery yesterday

I'll answer this. I was given ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates in the hospital and could buy them at my surgeon's office. I also ordered them online through Bariatric Choice. The Bariatric Pal store might have them but I am not sure. They were great right after surgery because I could eat them plain, undiluted or over a bit of crushed ice. Now, I can add them to my Water bottle. They are a great source of Protein on the clear phase.

    Thinking about a sleeve

You don't have to decide today. Just do the next right thing and take on day at a time. If it helps, my BMI was literally off the charts and I was successfully sleeved April 20, 2015 with no complications. I have already lost more than I could have dreamed and am still going strong. I am regaining my mobility and getting my life back. Miracles do happen.
