  1. The link takes me to a thread from 2003. I don't think that is what you want us to read.
  2. Great advice! I have a worse example. A former boss/colleague of mine was one of those guys who was proud of the fact that he never took any time off of work. He didn't take sick days, or vacation days, or slow down for lunch, etc. He just passed away at a very young age from something that was probably left untreated for too long. A great book that I recommend frequently is Dr. Henry Cloud's "One Life Solution". I actually loaned my copy of that book to him and suggested we read it as a department. I am not sure that he ever actually read it.

weight loss stopped at 7 months

I'm at a stall and I'm only 1 month out what can I do to loose more weight? Sent from my LG-H811 using the BariatricPal App Just about everyone stalls the first time about three weeks after surgery. Everyone stalls. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Just follow your program. Track your food. Make sure you get in ALL of your protein and fluids. Avoid starches and added sugars. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    The Lymphatic System

Let me know how it goes. I think I am still too heavy for a rebounder but may try it in the future. Let me know how it goes. I think I am still too heavy for a rebounder but may try it in the future.

For all of you who are working crazy hours, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Henry Cloud's book The One Life Solution.

My 1 month stall and weight gain!

Does your surgeon know you are on steroids? According to my surgeon steroids can cause leaks. I would be cautious.

I love your analogy of the pacifier! Some of the most interesting responses are from newbies when a veteran hands them their sticky pacifier.

to snack, or not to snack?

If I didn't snack I wouldn't be able to get my 100 grams of Protein a day. For me, it is important that my Snacks are protein based and measured.

    Weight Loss and Steriods

Definitely talk to your surgeon. My surgeon said that steroids were the biggest cause of leaks (they basically dissolve the incision line).

    Stalled at 5 weeks?

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Almost everyone experiences their first stall about three weeks after surgery. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in ALL of your Protein and fluids. Stay off the scale, and Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Thinking about a sleeve

It should be posted prominently at the facility and on their website.

    Help for Binge-Eating Disorder

Hi Eunice, I would suggest you contact some of the Bariatric Centers of Excellence and talk to their directors and/or on-staff psychologists. They might be able to give you an idea of what kinds of needs aren't being addressed by existing programs.
  16. I think we can't help but change. WLS is a significant life event and going through the process is going to be a catalyst for change. How we react to the change and respond to other people's reaction to the change is what is most important in my opinion. Whether our core values and personality stay the same or are radically different is up to each of us.

    Iron-Deficiency Anemia Post Surgery

Are you taking your Iron with vitamin C and at a time where you aren't taking it eating calcium? Calcium can interfere with iron absorption and vitamin C helps absorption.

More critical of facial features after WLS?

Makeup can help, but a genuine smile is the best enhancement. I watch Survivor and it is interesting how jarring everyone's look is to me during the finale. I don't think it is because of the extra 20+ pounds that everyone has gained as much as the fact that they are wearing makeup and have blow-dried their hair.

    Not drinking and eating

I agree. If you feel you must practice, then don't put something to drink within arms reach while you eat.

    Juicing

I would worry about the "don't like a lot of whole fruits and vegetables". Have you actually tried any lately? Once you get clean off of sugar and starches, you may find you actually like fresh, whole foods.

    6 month stall..

Congratulations! This is awesome! Do you even have any idea what kind of work your body is doing to make itself permanently smaller? As far as I can tell, stalls are when my body is reducing and rearranging. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Not something to be feared or avoided. Just follow your program. Make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and Water. Take your supplements and Vitamins as directed. And, exercise. You might want to consider mixing up your exercise, trying something new, or even alternating days of intensity. If you haven't talked to your NUT in a while, this might be a good time to talk about your goals and to just check in. You may need to adjust your eating based on your exercise intensity and/or, depending on how much more you want to lose, even start planning for maintenance! Lymphedema Treatment

I'm not supposed to sleep in them! I was told to use them 3 times a day but my Physical Therapist said absolutely not. According to her the last person she had who did it three times a day wound up not being able to walk. Two times seems to be working well so far. I can tell it works because I have to really pee after the hour is up!

    Calories and protein intake

You are going to be tired for a while. Your body is healing from major surgery. The sooner you can get in all of your protein and fluids, the better you will feel. Be gentle with yourself, and rest if you need to. It does get better.
