    Protein

What phase are you on? I liked ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil Soups. WonderSlim protein puddings, and unjury chicken Soup.

How long do you have to crush your pills?

    I never crushed my pills.

    Stall and no support

Just because your husband buys you donuts and fries things doesn't mean you have to eat it. Try going back to basics: Follow your program. Track your food. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Avoid starches, added sugars, fried foods. Take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed. And, exercise. I suggest you make an appointment with your NUT to talk about your challenges and goals. In addition, you may want to make an appointment with a counselor or therapist.

Questions about how to use this app!

We used to be able to search the whole site with the app but with the latest update that capability went away. Alex said he was trying to correct it. In the meantime, you have to search by forum.
  5. I am convinced that even though Diet Coke is considered "sugar free" our bodies don't know that and respond just like you are drinking sugar.

Would you move where has someone died?

Enjoy your new home. I think that is how I want to go, quietly, at home, in my sleep, at an extremely old age.

    This feeling ...

For me, I have to eat every few hours in order to get in all of my Protein. If I only ate three meals and no Snacks I would 1) be short in protein and 2) be pretty hangry most of the time. I have to track my food or I would have no idea whether or not I was meeting my protein target. My memory is so bad I can't remember what I ate 10 minutes ago.

    Affirmations

I am so glad you made it to the other side (with or without your dignity). Yes, you are important to Him and to us, too!

Water/Protein is a full time job

Be careful and don't drink all of that at once. We only metabolize about 20-25 grams of protein at a time so you would need to divide this up three ways to get benefit of all of the protein.

    Wheelchair bound amputee and WLS

Welcome and best of luck with your surgery! Once your incisions are healed being in the pool will be great exercise. In the meantime, you'll have to find a way to move some, especially when dealing with the post-surgery gas. Your physical capabilities pre-op will help determine what you can do immediately post-op. Let us know how we can help and encourage you on this life-changing journey. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

What an inspiration. You are so very lucky to have his example. It really is never too late to change your life.

    Stairs suck!

Climbing the Cape Hatteras lighthouse was memorable but that was decades ago. Now, I still have trouble with one flight of stairs.
  14. The most important number is your Protein target. Your calories will be relative/dependent on that. What is your protein target?

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

I am so sorry you experienced so many complications and difficulties. Hearing about your success and optimism is awesome! Congratulations, I wish you nothing but success in your new career. Getting rid of your wheelchair must be thrilling.

    Stairs suck!

Be careful walking in stairwells alone. They aren't always the safest places to be. Years ago I worked on the 13th floor of a building that also had several levels down to street level. Whenever we had a fire drill we were all sore the next day.
  17. Just part of my current lymphedema treatment. I may be dressing as a mummy for Halloween this year. It looks really strange, but my treatments have really been helping. I've lost a total of over 9" in my legs since starting treatment.

    I have absolutely no energy!

It is very normal. You are healing. Do everything you can to get in all of your fluids and Protein. It will help you to bounce back faster.

    Immediate Post Op Diet Question

Since you have conflicting information and aren't having complications or issues, I would go with the one that would allow me to get in the most Protein. If it helps, my surgeon allowed Premier Protein during my clear phase.

Do you eat like a bird? How much?

I put a bird feeder outside my front window late in the winter and have been feeding the birds since. Boy can those creatures eat! I jokingly liken it to the drive-thru. They get so excited when I fill the feeder. It's fun to watch them get in line and take turns at the feeder. They can clean it out in a day. All of that is to say that if you mean I eat protein rich meals and snacks frequently throughout the day? Then yes, I eat like a bird.
  21. If your surgeon clears you to be off four weeks, you could plan to have your one month follow-up before you return to work. If you take less time you will still have follow-ups, but I would think your one week would still be while you are off of work recovering.

    Not enough calories

My understanding it is converted to glucose for energy and then if not burned is stored as fat. I am learning that Protein is a delicate balance. If we don't get enough our metabolism slows down (it needs protein to do the required work of building muscle, replacing skin, reconfiguring out body to make it smaller) but if we get too much excess that it can't use right then it can't store it. Also, if we don't get enough our bodies will consume our own protein (muscles). That it is why it is important to eat enough protein but to spread it out throughout the day. Eating frequent protein-based meals and Snacks is preferable to eating one or two big meals/doses of protein. It keeps our metabolism going and it keeps us from getting hungry.
  23. I didn't go to Mexico, but the only thing OTC I remember using immediately post-op was liquid Tylenol. Be sure and get the adult version. The children's version is full of high fructose corn syrup.

    Not enough calories

Keep in mind that we only metabolize about 20-25 grams of Protein over an hour so if you are adding protein to your yogurt to get 45 grams of protein, unless you are dividing it up and eating it over multiple meals you aren't really getting 45 grams of protein. Aim for multiple meals of no more than 25 grams of protein each, spread out over the day.

Honestly why r men A****? 5days post op

I can't answer your question about why men are so clueless. Fortunately, since I am single I didn't have to deal with this during my recovery. Other than politely asking him not to eat junk in front of you again, I would suggest that you control what you can (yourself) and just leave the room until he has finished eating. If he wants your company during meals he MIGHT get a clue.
