    Eating crab? Shellfish?

I had scallops and shrimp about three or four weeks post-op. I would've careful with the butter. I found that post-op, fats like mayo and butter made me a little woozie and that a little goes a long way.

Surgery woes: Grandpa begged me not to have the surgery

I am so glad you are doing well. I am also glad that your mother was able to take you, even with the delay. She sounds like a real piece of work.

    Lonely in Sleeveland

Another great resource for in-person face-to-face support (and hugs) is OA. You can find meeting lists online at OA.org.
  4. I am so sorry that you are experiencing this frustration and aggravation. The pre-op process is great opportunity to practice polite persistence, patience, and perseverance. It will be worth it in the end
  5. Last night's episode was quite interesting. Christina is a beautiful woman. It broke my heart to see her struggling with her self-perception and anorexia. I was so glad to see Dr. Now tell her to eat more and gain weight, build muscle, get healthy, and talk to a therapist before he would consider performing skin removal surgery. Her struggles reminded me of some I have seen on these boards. I am glad they are going back and looking at the longer-term issues.
  6. I have been wanting to try a pawpaw. I just had ramps for the first time.

    Feel weak

Are you taking a PPI? Are you getting in all of your Protein? Are you getting in all of your fluids? Getting in all of your protein and fluids will go a long way to helping you with your energy.
  8. Glad you were able to find a good NUT. Your surgeon's 40 grams of protein guidelines were ludicrous.

    Bariatric choice

I really like them. They gave them to me in the hospital undiluted or undiluted over a little bit of crushed ice. They are a great way to get in Protein during the clear phase. Now, I occasionally add them to my Water bottle when I am short on protein.

Trying to get back on track

No, it doesn't sound like you are eating enough. I would highly recommend that you make an appointment with your NUT. In the meantime, go back to basics. Follow your plan. Track, weigh, and measure your food. Make sure you are getting AT LEAST 64 oz of Fluid a day. Make sure you are getting in all of your protein every day. What is your protein target? You need to be getting at least that amount every day (mine is 100 grams). Avoid starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), carbonation, caffeine, and fried foods. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. And, exercise.

    I need some support

Well, you took the first and most important step by admitting you need help. Do you have a NUT and a therapist? This would be a great time to make an appointment to talk to both and talk about your challenges and goals. In the meantime, go back to basics. Follow your program, Track, weigh, and measure your food. Make sure you are getting at least 64 oz of Fluid a day. Make sure you are reaching your Protein target every day. Avoid starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. And, exercise.

    Bariatric choice

Yes, I have ordered quite a bit from them. I think I got the initial info for the site from my surgeon's office. I get Calcium chews from them. I also get the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates and tomato basil and creamy chicken Soups that were lifesavers immediately post-op. I like the ProtiDiet hot chocolates and the WonderSlim puddings, too.

    Vitamins during Post Op

I think mine was in my manual and I was also given another copy at my one week follow up.

    Discouraged

The best thing to do is work on getting in all of your protein and fluids.
  16. You have to read the labels on baby food very carefully. Some of it has a lot of carbs. I didn't have a puree phase (just soft food), but it is fairly easy to eat regular, adult soft or puréed food without resorting to baby food. Think: Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, refried Beans, ricotta bake, etc.

    United healthcare weight loss form

It sounds like you need to have your GYN and/or your PCP fill out the form.

    nightime hunger

    ...or, you could be thirsty.

    Cheese

I love cheese and splurge on it all the time. I went to a Green Living Fair this weekend and came home with among other things: ramps, a bag of black Beans, smoked salmon, and three kinds of cheese. One of the cheeses is cheddar cured in blueberry wine.
  20. I agree that upping your calories is probably a good idea. Especially if you aren't hitting your protein numbers.

    Vitamins during Post Op

My surgeon gave me a detailed list and a recommended schedule.

Does your lady feel safe? (what do women want?)

Here is the article. I would consider it a "must read". http://www.dirgemag.com/ted-bundy-feminism/

Does your lady feel safe? (what do women want?)

This reminds me of an article I just read about Ted Bundy. I'll see if I can find it. (By the way, thanks for the invitation to the ladies.)

    Could use a little encouragement.

It gets better. You just had major surgery, your hormones are in flux, you are probably dehydrated, and you are alone. It is perfectly understandable that you aren't feeling 100%. Be gentle with yourself. Can you walk much? How is the weather? If you are able, take a walk outside. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. The sooner you can get there, the better you will feel. Do you have a friend or family member you can reach out to? Many of us want to help but don't really know what you need until asked. It is ok to ask for help, even if it is just someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on. We are here to help.
  25. It really is for life. I recommend keeping one "before" item so you have something tangible to show as a reminder of where you came from and get rid of the rest.
