Anyone ever thought:"I can do this on my own, I don't need the sugery"
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Killian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Between the ages of 40 and 50, after decades of yo-yo dieting, I went from "healthy" fat to disabled. If you are not ready, by all means wait until you are sure. But, based on my experience I wish I was more willing to consider surgery a de side ago. Fortunately, improvements in the surgery options were one benefit of me waiting until I was ready. -

I can't read your post. Did you use a funky font or color? It doesn't show up in on my app. -

1 day post-op... am I drinking too much?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to FeelingFancy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That doesn't mean you shouldn't try. And, no, sleeve's won't stretch from liquids. Just keep sipping. -
My 100 grams a day is a minimum target.

Congratulations on your weight loss. You look great! My favorite kind of exercise is swimming. I swim laps and do Water aerobics, water weights, etc. Exercising in the water is great because it's easy on the joints and the water provides lots of resistance.

I got my labs back today from my checkup!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Sajijoma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congratulations! -
After an appointment today I stopped at Trader Joe's to pick up groceries. One of the miracles of my surgery is that I can now do my own shopping. I had gotten so immobile pre-op that I had to have someone else buy my groceries. Trader Joe's is so smart. They put their flowers and plants right by the front door. I bought with abandon: cut tulips, cut iris, a succulent, and a pot of hyacinths. It occurred to me that pre-op, most of my cart would have been full of pre-packaged foods and starches. Today, it was full of flowers, fresh berries, yogurt, and other healthy, fresh whole foods. One of my favorite poems: How do you feed your soul at the grocery store?

Send me $50 bucks and I'll ask you a few questions (assessment) and create and print a really impressive certificate. -
I thought they were trolls
Inner Surfer Girl replied to csawesome's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still trying to figure out how someone reads very real warnings about the risks of eating off plan post-op to "they think I am so stupid I should die". Because someone warns you that you could isn't the same as wanting you to at all. -

Trouble with protein/fluid intake

By the way, I sipped directly from the premier bottle. Just take small, frequent sips. -
Trouble with protein/fluid intake
Inner Surfer Girl replied to myglassesareon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get easier, especially as you heal and the swelling goes down. Just keep sipping and do everything you can to get it in. The sooner you can reach your targets the better you will feel. Early out, I even took my premier Protein to bed at night and didn't turn out the light until I finished it. According to my surgeon there is no physical reason we can't drink three premier Proteins the day after surgery. That is 90 grams protein and 33 oz of Fluid right there. Keep sipping! -

Surgery woes: Grandpa begged me not to have the surgery
Inner Surfer Girl replied to crazygoose's topic in Rants & Raves
I am so sorry. It is probably more hassle than you have the energy to deal with right now, but you might want to consider reporting the theft to the police. That is theft, and depending on how much she spent, could be pretty serious. I definitely recommend that you find a good counselor and do everything you can to put some distance between you and your mom. She sounds really toxic. You do not need someone like that in your life, especially as you recover from surgery. -
Citrus and Pepper Chicken with Quick Pickled Red Onions
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Shotochick's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
This looks yummy. I'll have to make the pickled onions. I love pickled onions (or just about anything pickled for that matter). -
Yes, at the vey least it will stall your weight loss. If you don't get enough Protein your body will consume itself (muscles and organs like your heart). We need protein to keep our metabolisms running, to build and repair muscle, skin, hair, etc.

At least 100 grams a day.

Cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, refried beans, and tuna were, and still are, some of my basics. -
For me, one of the biggest benefits to WLS is the chance to regain my life and do things and go places I haven't had a chance to do for a very long time. In addition, I will eventually get to buy regular-sized clothes. From buying myself flowers, shopping at the local farmer's market, browsing vintage stores, to traveling, this article has some good ideas about how to save money while "living large": http://time.com/money/4275035/live-large-on-a-small-budget/?xid=frommoney_soc_socialflow_facebook_money What are some of the ways you have "lived large" after WLS?
