    Hiatal Hernia Repair with Sleeve?

I had both. I think it is very common. I didn't experience any particular issues.

    Protein intake?!?

That isn't everyone's instructions. I was explicitly allowed Premier Protein during my clear phase. Getting in my protein and fluids were both my surgeon's priorities. To the OP, just keep sipping and working at it. It will get easier. Are you taking a PPI? What is PPI? My dr told me to focus on getting any kind of Fluid in for the first few days to avoid dehydration.. The protein I just can't stomach because it is disgusting. Just can't wait to be on baby like food lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App A PPI is an acid blocker (like Prilosec). I was prescribed on for several months post-op.

At the very beginning, What can I expect?

I agree with the advice to take everything a step at a time. Be sure and write everything down and ask lots of questions. If you don't understand something (for instance why you need a specific test) then ask questions until you understand. A couple of great questions to ask of everyone are: "What are the next steps?; and "What should I do?" Be prepared to practice patience, polite persistence, and perseverance.

    Fatty Acid Imbalance?

I agree. Neither the Internet nor a chat board is the place to get medical advice. CALL YOUR SURGEON. They should have given you a 24-hour phone number for issues like this.

    Awful looks

How do you know what they were thinking? Did you make an effort to talk to anyone? It must be my age but I tend to try to think the best about most people until I have evidence to the contrary. Maybe I'm self-centered, too, but I can't imagine assuming other people are thinking anything but good thoughts about me. If not, it is their issue, not mine.

Tuna Time! Share Your Protein Recipes Here!

One of my favorite tuna salads is the Mediterranean tuna salad at Whole Foods. My approximation: Tuna A couple of pieces of marinated artichoke hearts Kalamata olives A spoonful of feta cheese Some red onion (if I have it) Greek seasoning A dab of mayo or aioli I also make a "tuna melt" with some greens Beans, tuna, and grated cheese on top, heated up to hear the green beans and melt the cheese. (The ranch flavored packet of tuna works great for this one.)

Liver shrink... Am I eating to many carbs?

Interesting! Every surgeon is different. My pre-op was high protein and no starches/sugars: no bread, no fruit, etc. I referred to it as the bacon diet because bacon was a-ok.
  16. Congratulations! This is a great milestone. Just an observation and something to think about: if 30 pounds is more than you have been able to lose in the past and the fact that you are now one month post-op, don't be upset when you stall. You will stall, and especially if you weigh every day, you may have an emotional reaction to that stall. I have learned that how I respond to the inevitable stalls is one of the major things that makes my post-op weight loss successful post-op. Pre-op, a stall is when I would give up. Keep up the great work and keep following your program. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Water in-take

Welcome to BariatricPal. Right after surgery, plain Water was the hardest thing for me to drink for a while. Try different temperatures (ice cold, room temp, warm, etc,) and different flavor enhancers (Mio drops, crystal light, decaf tea, etc.). Eating crushed ice and sugar-free Popsicles will also help you get in your fluids. Fortunately, your Protein shakes should count toward your Fluid consumption, too. Just keep trying. Staying hydrated and getting in all of your protein and fluids is critical.

High Protein Diet vs. Counting Calories?

I count protein grams, and to do that I record every bite in My FitnessPall. Pre-op, I HATED recording my food going all the way back to when I started Weight Watchers as an adolescent and was forced to track my food on the refrigerator. I did use the Weight Watchers app pre-op to track points but switched to MyFitnessPal post-op because the points method did not track my protein. Being on this journey and having an app (MyFitnessPal) has helped me to see the benefit to tracking: I am old, my short-term memory is shot, and I can't remember what I ate 10 minutes ago, so I have to track. I don't track calories per se, but I do try to choose foods that have a higher nutrition to calorie ratio (especially focused on protein). 1200 calories of turkey breast is not the same as 1200 calories of Krispy Kreme donuts.
  21. Mine is certainly being redefined. I am learning to cook, make smaller portions, and appreciate good clean foods. I actually a bought and ate ramps and pea shoots for the first time ever in the last week and they were delicious!

    What the heck happened?!

None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience periodic stalls and almost everyone experiences their first stall at about three weeks post-op. Learning to accept the process has really helped me to keep following my program no matter what the numbers on the scale say. Also, weighing infrequently is a great strategy if the numbers in the scale dictate your emotional state. Early out I only weighed at my doctor's appointments. What I have found to be critical success factors for me: Just follow your program. Weigh, measure, and track your food. Make sure you get in ALL of your Protein every day. Make sure you get at least 64 oz. of Fluid every day. Avoid starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale. And, embrace the stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    4 days post-op questions

Congratulations on your surgery and progress so far. It sounds like you need to sip more often than once every 15 minutes. When I was at your stage I was literally sipping all day. It does get easier.

    Mayo options

Try the ranch flavored tuna packets. I just used a little bit of mayo or aioli (I have some flavored aioli from Stonewall Kitchen).
