    Weight Loss Pill

Sounds like her surgeon doesn't have much confidence in his own skills and/or he doesn't have a good educational and support program in place for his patients if weight loss pills are part of his SOP. I don't know the OP's situation, but wanting a diet pill sounds like a red flag to me. If someone goes into WLS with a dieting mentality (restricting calories, etc.) then expectations can get really messed up.

    Community Fitness Challenge

The 150 miles was not in one week. It has been since about February!

    Eating the same meals

What do you like? Try fish, tuna, turkey, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, etc. My Breakfast this morning was Greek yogurt with fresh raspberries. Yesterday for dinner I cut up some tomato, and added some tzatziki sauce, a little feta, Kalamata olives and mixed it into cottage cheese.

    Regrets

I was self-pay but the program I went through required nutrition counseling. It is part of my fee.

This is really good. Thanks for sharing.

    Bypass 6 month wait..

It will go by quickly. You have received some great advice. One thing that helped me was to pick one thing at a time to focus on. For instance weaning myself off of carbonation, then weaning myself off caffeine, increasing my Water, decreasing my sugar/starches, etc. Use this time to learn as much as you can about the surgery and yourself. Read, ask questions, journal, attend support groups, find a therapist, etc.
  7. I would listen to your NUT. It sounds counterintuitive, but not eating enough can be as bad as eating too much. Since you are physically active, you need to make sure you are losing fat and not muscle. Based on what you describe, your body may be consuming muscle which is not only counterproductive to losing weight efficiently and effectively, it can be really dangerous.

    Weight Loss Pill

I am not and see no need for one. It would seem dangerous and counterproductive, especially soon after surgery.

    A Beef about my Surgeon

From what I can gather it is a PA (or equivalent?) with a bariatric specialty.

    ANY QUICK MEAL SUGGESTIONS

It depends on your stage. Pre-op, my NUT said Lean Cuisines, etc. we're fine but to add a bag of frozen vegetables (like broccoli) to make them healthier and more satisfying. During my two-week pre-op diet which was high protein, no starches/carbs I ate a lot of turkey breast, tuna, cheese, etc. Now that I am post-op a year and on full foods, I still eat a lot of turkey breast, tuna, cheese, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, black Beans, chicken, etc.

    Water Nausea

I don't remember exactly but I was probably drinking water fairly easily at three months, certainly by six months. I am one year out and ice water is satisfying but I still use a lot of water enhancers, too. I usually have a water bottle full of water and a water bottle full of enhanced water going simultaneously.

    New here

I agree. It depends on what you are allowed. Some good Snacks are sugar-free Popsicles, and decaf tea or herbal infusions.

    Week 3

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Everyone stalls, and almost every one stalls about three weeks after surgery. As others have suggested, just make sure you are getting in enough Protein and Fluid. If the numbers on the scale are driving you crazy then stay off the scale! 15. My mom went with me. Once I checked in, they took me back to get prepped. I was the second person that day so I didn't really have to wait very long.

    Frustrated with Pre-Op process surprises

I am so glad you got approval. The whole pre-op process requires a great deal of patience, polite persistence, and perseverance. It will be worth it in the end to have a safe surgery.

    Doctor Discouraged Lap Band Procedure

Just curious, but why would being on blood thinners preclude you from getting the sleeve?

    STRUGGLING

It sounds to me like he has reason to worry. Some people's marriages don't survive the surgery and weight loss for the very reason that the person having the surgery usually gains enough strength and confidence to leave a less than loving and healthy relationship.

    Status update

For me, post-op "full" is different from pre-op "full". Just eat slowly, chew thoroughly, and measure your portions. There is a fine line between satisfied and one bit too much. You will start to be able to tell if you pay attention what your signals are. For me, if I overeat I can get a runny nose, burp, and/or get hiccups. It hasn't happened very often though. You will get the hang of it.

    Afraid of not losing!

My opinion is that the answer to this may depend on what you were doing when you were sleeved. Were you following your program; getting enough Protein and fluids; tracking your food; eating slowly and mindfully, and chewing thoroughly; avoiding sugar, starches, and fried foods; taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed; and exercising? Were you dealing with any food addiction and/or emotional eating issues? If not, and you don't do anything different then another surgery may not give you the results you hope for. If you were, then the new procedure may help, especially if you continue to do your part.

    A Beef about my Surgeon

The only time I've seen my surgeon since I left the hospital was at a book signing for another one of his patients. I figured that unless I have complications I may not see him again. I do have confidence that if I needed to see him I could.

Congratulations on the new job! Making an appointment with a NUT sounds like a smart move to me.

    Had surgery on Tuesday 4/12

I second the recommendation of ProtiDiet. I was give ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates in the hospital and they helped a lot my first few weeks. Try eating them undiluted over a little bit of crushed ice. It is hard but the sooner you can get on your Protein and liquids the better you will feel. Try different temperatures and liquids (including crushed ice and sugar-free Popsicles) to get in your Fluid. Getting dehydrated is not something you want to experience. Talk to your surgeon about your nausea, he or she may be able to prescribe something for you. It does get better!

Only losing three pounds is not a stall. Are you getting in all of your Protein and fluids? Are you following your program? Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
