3 1/2 years post out, HELP!

Congratulations your success so far. Why not find another NUT since your original NUT retired? See if your surgeon can refer you to someone. In the meantime, I would suggest you go back to basics. Are you still: tracking your food; getting in all of your Protein and fluids; avoiding starches, added sugars, and fried foods; taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed; and exercising as you are able? Why can't you eat right or exercise? What are your limitations?

    Just n ear

I agree. Talking with a counselor or therapist sounds like a good idea. You might also want to consider attending support group meetings and/or 12-step recovery program like (OA.org). You have had a lot of success so far, there is no reason you can't continue to make progress.

    April 20th buddy

Happy Surgiversary! I am doing great. I have lost just over 200 and pounds and have about that much more to go. I feel great and am regaining my mobility and getting my life back. This year has flown by!
  4. I was sleeved April 20, 2015 and have my one year follow-up appointment today, This year has flown by. I am over half-way to goal. I am regaining my mobility. A year ago I needed my mom to drive me and a step to get into her SUV (I couldn't get into her sedan). I couldn't do my own grocery shopping, and couldn't walk or stand very long. Today, I am driving myself, and will probably stop and shop after my appointment. I am swimming laps 3-4+ times a week (since starting to use a fitness tracker a few months ago, I have swum over 150 miles in laps). I sleep well and don't oversleep much anymore. I am starting to be able to participate in life again. If I don't get at least an "ata girl" at my appointment I am going to be disappointed!

    Post Op diet

You probably won't feel "full" eating soft foods and liquids like cottage cheese and yogurt. Post-op, rather than feeling full, I aim for satisfied. It is easy to go from satisfied to one bite too many so slow down, take small bites, chew thoroughly (when you get to denser foods) and you will get a better sense of when you have eaten enough.
  6. I don't know. What does your NUT advise? How much protein are you getting in? Are you getting in at least 64 oz + of fluid? Are you exercising?
  7. Another book I recommend is Eat it Up! by Connie Stapleton.

Help! I have fallen off my plan and ...

I am not very good at giving smacks upside the head. Sorry. How far out are you? Have you considered making an appointment with your NUT to talk about your struggles? Do you have a therapist or counselor? Do you attend support group meetings?

Muscle cramps 3 weeks post op

You can mix it into shakes, puddings, yogurt, etc. You can also reconstitute it with water to make a paste (peanut butter).

Not ready to embrace another stall!

I'm not sure I have anything else to cut. I literally have nothing left that I could cut unless it's the salad which isn't providing much, because I need the Protein. You DO NOT NEED TO CUT anything. You need to be eating more protein and good carbs.

Anybody having CPAP problems after surgery?

I made an appointment with my sleep doctor about a month post -op because my pressure was too high. He switched me to an automatically adjustable machine. It is very possible for your sleep apnea to improve or change as you lose weight.

I Have My One Year Follow Up Today

Tomorrow, April 20, is my one year Surgiversary. I got a mani/pedi yesterday as part of my reward.

Not ready to embrace another stall!

Cutting calories arbitrarily is not the solution for "breaking a stall". Restricting can be very counterproductive. We need to keep our metabolism burning, not keep dousing the fire.

    No Energy!

I'm pureed right now. I try to incorporate different foods. Hummus is my thing. But chick peas havery alot of carbs. Next week is soft food. That is when I think it will get better for me. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App I don't avoid carbs, I avoid starches (refined carbs, sugars, white rice, etc.). I don't eat a lot of them, but I do eat complex carbs.

    Exercise Post-Op

I have a bad knee and mobility issues so I didn't do any serious exercise until I was cleared to get in the water. I walked some but not very intensely or very far.
  16. I just read this and thought it was very profound. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/care-and-feeding_b_9623752.html How have you learned not to take things personally?

    Protein and clear liquids

My surgeon had a completely different attitude: he wanted me hitting my protein target of 100 grams right away. As far as I can tell, that was why my recovery went to well. Protein and fluid are critical for healing. Personally, I would suggest that you not WORRY but also that you do everything you can to get in your protein and fluid by making your primary focus.

    No Energy!

I highly recommend that you track your food so your food so you KNOW whether or not you are getting in enough protein and fluids. Guessing doesn't do you any good. Getting in ALL of your protein and fluids is the number one priority and will help you heal. Not ready to embrace another stall!

my average day starts with a Syntrax Protein drink. My throat and pouch won't allow food when I wake up so it's my only way to get "breakfast". Then for lunch, I usually have either 2oz of tuna w/light mayo or 3oz of salmon baked and a handful of salad greens w/maybe some low sugar dressing like Italian. Then for a typical dinner, I might have 3-4oz of baked or grilled chicken(usually dark meat) and some salad and then about 2he after dinner I have another protein drink because I'm not usually near my 800 cals or protein requirement. It sounds like you have room for a couple of high protein Snacks, especially after your workout.

Not ready to embrace another stall!

hmmm I'm on 800 cal/day and 60g of protein and less than 20 carbs(closer to 0). I wonder if my body is starving. I do an hour of elliptical a day and 30 mins of resistance training 3 days a week and core tightening the other 4. Yes, you probably are starving. 60 grams of protein seems really low. Less than 20 grams of carbs is also really low if you are exercising.

    Beed Help!

Wow, it sounds like you have been dealing with a lot of life. As far as your post-op food plan, can you get another copy from your surgeon? Try googling "Bariatric Center of Excellence manual" and you should be able to find some examples. I would suggest you make an appointment with your surgeon and/or NUT to discuss your health issues (especially your use of steroids). A good bariatric NUT should be able to help you get back on track. It's never too late.

    Incentive Spirometer

I had to use mine for a while, too but don't remember exactly for how long. Pneumonia is not something you want to have to deal with do definitely follow your surgeon's instructions.

    Any one ride horses?

In addition to getting up on a surfboard and learning to surf, another of my major goals is to ride again.
