  1. That sounds perfectly normal. For me, Greek yogurt and cottage cheese were both allowed on my full liquid phase and they function like liquids. Being satisfied on 4 oz of Greek yogurt is great. That is what we want to happen. It's a great source of Protein, too.

    Dental problems

Just another reason to eat enough protein and keep up with your vitamins and supplements.

    1 week stall?

In the first month after surgery your body is swollen and healing. You may even still be full of Fluid from the hospital. Just follow your program and focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. It's also a good idea to stay off the scale early out and weigh infrequently. I only weighed at my doctors appointments early out. Please remember that no one loses weight at a constant or steady rate. We all stall. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Bandages

I didn't have any either. My incisions were glued. What were your post-op instructions?

Stall and not even a month out?

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing a significant amount of weight. Everyone stalls and almost everyone stalls about three weeks after surgery. You are right on schedule. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Stay off the scale. And, embrace the stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Stage three

I don't know. Why not call your surgeon's office or your NUT and ask?
  8. Inner Surfer Girl

How do you guys do it?

It sounds to me like you eat more frequently. When you refer to your Protein do you mean "protein supplement"? Because almost everything you eat whether it is soft or solid food should have some protein so you can reach your protein target. Early out I was eating or drinking something pretty much all day in order to reach my targets. It does get easier as you heal.

    NEED URGENT HELP!

All I can suggest is that you keep doing what you are doing: walking, sipping, heating pad, etc. It will get better. If it's unbearable, call your surgeon's office to see if they have any ideas.
  12. Everything about my post-op experience so far is opposite from conventional "dieting". I am convinced that the reason I got to almost 600 pounds is because of "dieting".

  14. One person's facile suggestion is another person's life-saving resource. @@reallyrosy, since you seem to be really struggling have you considered ALL of your options? Have you tried support groups? Have you tried a 12-step recovery program like OA (OA.org)? Have you considered looking for another NUT since you don't find your current NUT helpful?

Can you "stall" during liquid pre-op? I'm frustrated :(

Just stay the course and stay off the scale.
  16. Inner Surfer Girl

    Weight gain already?!?!

Yes, you are freaking out for no reason. If the numbers on the scale are going to freak you out, then please stay off the scale. You are still healing and adjusting. Your body is in fluctuation and your hormones are wacky right now. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. And stay off the scale. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. Most of us experience weight fluctuations and stalls along the way. Almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks post-op (and women have the added bonus of menstrual cycles). Questions

Initially after surgery as I was healing I was tired. After that I think the extra energy come from being lighter and also from getting enough nutrition and eating healthier. Compared to my pre-WLS life I have: cut out carbonation, diet cokes, etc.; drink more water; limit my caffeine; eat more whole, healthy foods; avoid starches, added sugars, and fried foods; eat more protein; and eat frequent small meals and Snacks. I also exercise more (because I can) and I sleep much better and don't oversleep like I used to. As to what part of the stomach the surgeon removes. It is my understanding that they don't go in and measure the stomach and remove a specific percentage, they remove the fundus which is the stretchy part of your stomach. Depending on how big your stomach is or how much it has stretched the percentage is going to vary since it is relative. But, the goal is to have a stomach about the size of a small banana that won't stretch.
  18. Don't hide in the house! Going back to basics sounds like a great strategy. How much protein are you eating? One thing I have noticed is that folks who had WLS a few years ago may be eating less protein Most surgeon's and NUTS are recommending more protein than they used to based on recent research. Have you talked to your NUT lately to discuss your goals and challenges? It wouldn't hurt to make an appointment with your NUT and even a counselor or therapist to discuss strategies for reaching your goals. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Whoosh effect and weight loss stalls

Fat cells are full of water. When we are no longer storing fat in those cells then we lose the water in those cells. As we lose weight our bodies have to rearrange and dismantle the structure that supports all that fat: blood vessels, skin, and other tissue. That is why we do not lose weight in a smooth and steady manner. This is also one of the reasons we need to stay hydrated. I definitely notice that I pee a lot around the times I show a significant loss on the scale. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    The struggle is real.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Everyone experiences stalls and slow downs in weight loss. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. Almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks post-op. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Avoid starches, added sugars, and fried food. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale if you let it bother you. swimsuits that cover loose skin?

Actually not. There are quite of few options these days. I don't know if anyone has mentioned H2O but that catalog has a lot of different options. If you look at surfing clothes and suites there are all kinds of lengths and variations, too.

How does having your family care for you keep you from eating healthy? Do they not know how to help you? Have you considered having your caregivers learn about your food plan and nutritional requirements? I bet your NUT would be glad to provide support in educating your family. Have you tried physical therapy for exercise?

    Emotional struggle after gastric sleeve

You have got to get in your water and protein. Dehydration and malnutrition will not help and can be extremely harmful. I agree that you need to talk to someone. Please call your surgeon's 24-hour hotline and explain exactly what you are experiencing. They can help you find the help you need.
