I am so sorry you are disappointed in your friends. I am a big believer in giving folks the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they aren't sure if you are up for visitors. Have you reached out to someone and asked them to stop by? Once you are recovered from surgery, you will have an opportunity to widen your circle of friends. In the meantime, take care of yourself and don't be afraid to ask for what you need. You may not always get it, but if you don't ask you most certainly won't.

Her emphatic statement that no one who has WLS gets to a normal weight was a doozie. -
So excited I cried...

Congratulations! In case you didn't get recommendations for clear Protein, I like ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. Bone broth is also a good source of protein that is clear. -

I am doing all sorts of things (not necessarily "new"). I am getting my life back and thoroughly enjoying it. -
DID ANYONE WISH THEY HAD, OR DID TAKE VERY CREATIVE BEFORE AND AFTER PICS?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Womanvsmirror's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A while back, someone posted a photo of her standing by a pile of potting soil bags that matched the amount she had lost. I don't remember who it was. It came to mind last week when I bought a 20 pound bag of potting soil last week and could barely lift it (granted it was wet). As an aside, someone on Facebook posted a picture from her film noir photo shoot. I want one of those when I get to goal! -
WLS and Eating Disorders
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What was disappointing to me was that there are so few resources for us. Good eating disorder therapists for obese people, let alone for those of us who have WLS are rare. It's not WLS/bariatric programs that are behind the eight ball in my opinion. It's therapists who have the specialized skills and knowledge to work with post-WLS (or even pre-WLS folks). To hear someone who specializes in this area seem so close minded is just disheartening. I still think that many of us can benefit from a good therapist or counselor. I just wish they were easier to find. -

It is the dogmatic attitude that got me, too. -
Never owned a bathing suit? Inconceivable! You must correct that right away! The biggest bathing suit I ever owned was a size 32. I am currently in a 22 (top) and 24 (bottom). I have never not had a bathing suit. I would go crazy if I couldn't swim.

I agree with everyone else. Document, document, document. Also, have someone with you when you go over there or are around him. You need a witness. If you feel unsafe, you can also call law enforcement to be there while you get your stuff. Be safe and take care of yourself.

If think by my 7th week I was cleared for most food. I probably still ate a lot of Greek yogurt, cottage cheese. Turkey, tuna, refried Beans, etc. My Protein target was and is 100 grams of protein.

You have lost 47 pounds! Celebrate. None of us lose weight at a constant or steady rate. We all hit stalls and plateaus periodically. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Embrace the Stall! Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

I will order some of the ProtiDiet.. they seem to have some great reviews.. anything that tastes like Water, but yet sweet will help me get through this phase. Do you know if they are only available online? Thank you! Yes, I think I got mine from Bariatric Choice. My surgeon's office also sold them. I don't know if the BariatricPal Store has them or not but you can look. -

Did that week 1 - they're still so disgusting to me even diluted. I only tried the Alpine Punch, but it's too expensive to buy a whole case if I don't like it. :\ If you have a GNC you should be able to buy single bottles and/or return unopened bottles of you buy in bulk. -

Packing for Surgery...
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ashmarie1425's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just stayed over night. I took (and used): An extra pair of undies to wear home. I just wore home the clothes I wore to the hospital. Lip balm My cpap. My phone and charger. Heating pad. (I actually forgot mine so my sister got me one at a nearby drug store. It helped with the gas pain in my shoulder, plus I was freezing.) The hospital supplied toiletries, no slip socks, etc. The best thing I took was my mom. She went with me and stayed the whole time. -
Depressed & Can't meet H20/Protein goals

If you can drink the Protein 20 then by all means drink it. Don't wait for your stomach to "growl" or you may be waiting a very long time. Keep sipping on what you can get down. One thing that really worked for me immediately post op was the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. They are clear and I didn't detect a protein taste with them. I ate them undiluted with a spoon over a little bit of crushed ice. Have you tried something like bone broth? It has more protein than regular broth. It will get better! -
This is great to hear. Glad you didn't get hit with a tornado. Keep sipping!

I don't use premier powder, I buy the ready to drink. Try Walmart, Sam's Club or costco. You can try some samples of the GNC shakes at a GNC store. I like the orange cream. You can try different shakes at GNCs and stores like The Vitamin Shoppe.

Possibly. I happen to like yellow but have never had a yellow bathing suit. I haven't worn a non-tankini two piece since junior high and I have NEVER worn a bikini in my life. Anything is possible!
