I to went to Dr. Gonzalez, I was in the same room asOMLAGIRL. I speak Spanish, so that helped. But my DH was along and he speaks very little spanish and he got by.
I had a very pleasent experience, and have gone back for a couple of fills. They alway see me without any problem.
They say to be there at 11:00am Dr. is there waiting to give me a fill.
Very, Very nice people
Thanks OMLAGIRL AND CSS95 for sharing your nice experience with all of us,I'm sure this will help many of us I'ts also nice to have someone there that you can call if you feel uncomfortable or even if you have a silly question, I also speak a little spanish not fluent, but I think I can manage :eyebrows:,

I've heard that for other types of surgeries you do need to at least remove the nail polish something to do with the oxygen level measuring :phone:, I’m not a nurse , but would suggest to remove nail polish at least in any case.

Does any one know if there’s any Nextel signal in Tijuana ?

I'm getting one week off after my surgery I guess it's better than nothing, good thing is that I don't do any heavy lifting but I do alot of walking:faint: I think that will help me too, I was reading that that helps with the gas pain .

Good to know I´m not the only one feeling kinda nervous, I´m not sure how much time off work I can get and I´ve been hearing all kinds of different time frames for recovery
-
Thanks  I don´t think I can get that many days off, thats why I´m kind of confused right now, although I hear that every one is different but still kinda nervous. On the other hand thank goodness for pain killers
-
JessieSeems like I slept most of the time for the 1st week
Hi Sunshine
What meds were you taking? you think it was probably the pain killers?
I'm normally on the go, I don't think I can sleep for a week.

How much time do you really need off work, I had originally asked for my vacation time after the holidays and first was told "no problem" and now of course they said NOT A CHANCE!!! so I was thinking maybe I could take only a couple of days off ,any input????

I was on the phone with Laura today she was very nice and informative, now I'm just waiting for my financial approval and hopefully I would be able to meet you I'm thinking more or less around the same day of your surgery.
And yes ...yesterday I got scared I tried to log on to LBT a couple of times and nothing ,It's nice to have such a friendly and supportive group I'm sure more questions will come as my big day gets closer...thank you all

I'm with you sunshine , and I think this is no kids contest to see who has the biggest candy bag, maybe other people do have a hidden agenda or should I say JOB.
In any case sunshine you have been of great support for me and for that I thank you and many others too, I made up my mind ,I'm not dumb so I know that this surgery is a really hard choice to make that is why I came to this forum for support, information and encouragement and for that I thank all of you that ENCOURAGE ME TO GIVE MY SELF A SECOND CHANCE IN LIFE.

I don't know you, and I don't care to be involved in any of your very negative fiascos, my self and I'm sure that alot of us are really wondering What is your problem why do you write with such a hate (or call it how ever you want)some of us DO have a life outside this forum but you seem to be spending alot of time trying to make a big thing out of nothing don't you think that might be a reason why many have left or just decided no to sign in (or was that your plan all this time) I'm sure many have left the thread either because of your negative vibes or they actually have a life don't you think so?, you see...most of us come to this forum to get support I know I did for many months before having the courage to become a member I used to read what many nice people where saying about something that I really believed in (the Lap-band)and after many , many hours of reading and talking to actual patients who were brave enough to have this surgery done and not only that, but they wanted to share their wonderful "Life changing experience",I came to the conclusion that FOR ME the best choice was having my surgery done by Dr. Gonzalez, that is my decision, as of for many others and I do believe that you should RESPECT US.

NMS don´t forget to keep us updated on how your appointment with Dr. Gonzalez went.

You look great!!!!! a real inspiration...
-
I´ll keep all that in mind.

NM sunshine, how long were you in pain after surgery? How tough was your flight home? I'm not good with PAIN!!! My pain tolerance is VERY low. Did you go home with pain killers from dr. Gonzalez? Was recovery very painful?

No soda for me will be harder than to stop eating, instead of coffee in the mornings I wake up with my soda

That's wonderful ,congratulations !!!! I've been reading many other threads and that is one of the most common complaint...no after care and that for me is scary to even think about, that's why I'm asking around and doing all this research, although that does NOT seem to be the problem with Dr. V (Is he the same doctor I spoke with on the phone, Dr. Valenzuela?) he was very nice and assured me that they will be there for me when ever I need them.
NMS
My biggest problem is bread, specially late at night when I'm not able to sleep I'll just go straight to the kitchen it just makes me feel good even if I'm not hungry, hopefully with the lap band I won't be able to stuff my face:speechles

JESSIEL55You'll not be sorry you choose Dr.G. You have plenty of time to prepare. I was wondering if I made a mistake by having mine done before the holidays. But, Not. I won't be able to eat a monster meal anyway. January is so perfect. You'll be able to make your New Years resolution AND KEEP IT!!!!!
Every year I make one to lose weight and inevidably I don't keep it. This year I will be able to keep it.
Thank you for your honesty and your kind words, you know when I first started to look in to the Lap band was almost a year ago and since then I have gained almost 20 pounds, I'm waiting until January because I know I will need time off to learn to understand my body and mind, I need time to prepare since I know this is a lifetime commitment they say the surgery is the easy part and i'ts up to us to make this a success or a failure , I don't want to die any time soon or have any of the other sickness related to obesity and be a burden to my family I was not raised to be dependent, but I got to the point where I need this extra little help to loose the weight and I look at this (lap band) as a gift for my family and me.
And congratulations on taking this big step!!!!! :nervous

I guess with every doctor is different , the doctor I spoke to last week offers Free lifetime fills NO LIMIT, for me that is a plus!!

JesseDr. Gonzales is the best. Everyone who goes to him is happy with his team. He makes it so simple and you don't feel like you are in a foreign country. You fly to San Diago and Laura is there waiting for you. She drives you to your hotel. Later she takes you to the clinic to meet Dr. Gonzales and the nutricionist (who is an MD).....The after care is wonderful.
Cost is 7,500.
I'll find the thread and you can read what people have to say.
I did call them and they were very nice and patient with me, *(I had many questions ) thank you very much for your advise this is very important for me and my future and it´s nice to hear nice things from someone that already went trough this. thanks xoxoxo

I think you are talking about Detroit MI. Beliteweight has info about themAbout that...I´ve heard not so possitive things about beliteweight, I just read today on another thread regarding their poor after care and that they are very desorganized and so on, so you might want to look in to that.

I can't believe your doctor was against the lapband, did he at least gave you an option?
