Anyone want to be fat again?

The surgery isn't about vanity; it is about health. Maybe you had the wrong expectations going into the surgery.

WLS has made me a judgemental jerk!

I, too, am bipolar 1. I have had meanness issues in the past now controlled by medication. I heartily suggest that you get a med check as soon as possible. Remember your levels do change after surgery.
  5. I had mine done in beautiful, downtown Houston by the best surgeon in the whole world, Amanda Parker.

    Polish and nails

I was told to lighten my shade of gel polish which I did. There was no problem with my nails being painted a light shade.
  7. I am a 64 year old from Texas who just had a Gastric Bypass a week ago Friday. I am doing super. The surgery wasn't all that hard on me and I am looking forward to the weight loss!
  8. Isn't gastric-bypass cookbook and oxymoron?

    Roomie

I had a huge single room right outside of the nurse's station. The nurses kept bobbing their heads in to tell me to "walk," "sip," and "breathe." I got very personal care.
  10. I absolutely LOVE the protein shake that I am using. It is Myofusion Elite Protein Series and it tastes yummy. I am drinking the vanilla. What is everyone else using?
  11. One hour of exercise a day is pretty tough for ANYONE to do. Your doctor is very strict. I, personally, would find another doctor. Not that I am looking for an easy way out, but come on! An hour a day!!!!
  12. I ignore people like that and do not even consider their opinions. I have had some people tell me that my hospital choice is no good. Park Plaza has its own bariatric wing where the nurses and other staff are trained in bariatric. So I continue to ignore the riff-raff.
  13. I was on a cruise once and was in the elevator eating an ice cream cone. When I got off ---- before the doors closed ---- someone said, "That's the last person who should be eating ice cream." I will never forget that incident! I was mortified.
  14. Dear kedwards1950, I was born in 1950 also and am having a bypass this Friday. My doctor never even mentioned my age. I, like you, am just under 300 pounds. I look forward to the surgery and the upcoming results. My age never occurred to me although I have heard that some doctors will not do a bypass on those over 60. They will do the sleeve, however. I was lucky enough to find the best surgeon in the world.

    Do you lie?

I am an open book. I have told everybody that I am having surgery. I even posted it on Facebook!
  17. I was approved and given my surgery date at the same time. It was 3 weeks out so that I could go on the liquid diet for two weeks.
  18. I am scheduled for surgery this coming Friday, August 8. I am looking for a Bariatric Buddy to share the process with. Anybody out there from Houston?
  19. When I go to type a new message my typing is blank (as it is now). I can't see it. When I go to preview it the typing is there. What is wrong?
  20. Do you know which browser and version ? It happens all the time or intermittently for you ? I'd like to test on my end to see if I can replicate your issue. Microsoft Internet Explorer 11. Should I use Chrome instead?
  21. It doesn't happen on my iPad. It only happens on the desktop version of the site.
  22. I am on day three of my liquid preop diet. I can't manage to keep it down. I'm in the bathroom every 30 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this? I am due to have surgery 8-8.
  23. Well, it slowed down. I must admit I really like the protein shakes. Yummie!
  24. It is very hard to find a good psychiatrist. Plus so very few take insurance anyway. My advice is to stick with the one you have.

    Waiting

My request for surgery was sent to my insurance company today. I'm so nervous they're going to reject it. I don't know why I'm nervous because everything is in order, but I still have this impending feeling of doom. I really want the surgery so badly. I'm planning a cruise in October and I am hoping that my timing is good. I have Humana insurance and I was wondering if anyone else had experiences with them. I have Humana POS. it's a Medicare advantage program. I am in this all alone. I need the support of people like me who are going through the surgery. For now, I wait
