  1. @@Jouselle, I'd give you a hug if you were nearby. I can so relate to your story! I got down to 166-167 and had just started to accept, this may be it. The scale was not moving no matter what I did and I, too, have hypothyroidism. Well guess what, this past month the scale started to move again....THE WRONG WAY! I I went up 5 lbs in one month. Scared the crap out if me! So like you, I've started to buckle down again ( working out, protein first, blah blah blah). The stresses of life can make it so easy to put ourselves last but I will not give up.

    kidney fuction

@@snoopyt2, I don't recall my doctor saying anything about my creatinine, however I do drink a lot of water. Just as Hello new Me posted, my doctor said the protein in my urine was due to an increased protein diet. It all eventually leveled off. Hoping the same news for you too. Drink your water young lady!:-)

    kidney fuction

Yep, I had protein in my urine at about my one year f/u. My doctor made me wait three or maybe four months & retest. It was all ok. Don't stress over it ( I know easier said then done) . Just follow doctors orders & think positive!
  4. Yep, as the others said it is unfortunately, pretty common. I had more energy the first week. By week two, it was pretty bad. But going into the third week-it was much better. Hang in there, just follow doctor orders
  5. So I will give you my personal experience , take from it what you will. As Jenn said, many people are doing great. MANY. However, there are those like me. I didn't do bad but definately could have done better. I am approaching my two year anniversary and I never reached goal and honestly, I've recently gained six pounds in one month! Alarming to me because I never though this would be me. I know what to do and have taken steps to start to loose again. But the reason I'm posting this is to share with you my reality. As superdave said, If there is some mental work you have to do before having the surgery-do it. The first six months weight loss is pretty rapid. After that, it takes effort EVERY DAY (at least for most of us). I have no regrets and would do it again but I just think everyone should work on the mental aspect of weight gain before attacking the physical.

    Premier Protein

@@kittykatlover, not sure where you live but I just checked online and Costco shows premier is $24.99 (w/o coupon) however at Sams club it sells for $18.98 ( a dollar cheaper without a coupon). Seems like Sams has the better deal, if you have a membership.

Do you still identify as a wls patient?

Almost 2 years post op & I definately do identify as a WLS patient. Because everyday I calculate my protein intake, something I didn't do pre-sleeve. I also make sure I take all of my supplements ( multi-vitamin, iron, calcium, probiotics & a few other pills) prior to surgery I took a multivitamin and fish oil tablet, it was never a big deal if I missed it. Honestly, in some ways I feel like I'm coming up on my one year anniversary , not two years. I'm not sure if that feeling is because I'm always calculating (calories, protein, water). I should add that having had WLS doesn't consume my life but it is part of my life.

    Just feeling down

I am so sorry to hear you're going through this. I went through a similar situation years ago ( my now ex-husband was cheating , I found out our newborn was born with a devastating rare genetic disorder and I was also diagnosed with a couple medical conditions -nothing life threatening but definately life altering ( all within a 3 month period) . Hand s down the worse time of my life. Counseling helped me through it. 10 years later I got remarried, HAPPILY, I might add and although my daughter is disabled she is happy and relatively healthy. This too shall pass. In the meantime, continue to reach out. It's important to talk about it and please consider counseling.

    Premier Protein...

I bought premier banana and cream, pretty tasty if you like your drinks sweet & the flavor of bananas. I'm almost 2 years post-op and I still drink the vanilla when I have trouble reaching my daily Protein goal and I like it. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

    361 Days Later: My Story

Thanks for sharing ( I read it all) continued success and you have done a wonderful job! Were you able to get off your diabetic meds?
  16. There is nothing to criticize. You've done a great job at being able to maintain your weight for three years. Lately I've been reading a lot of post from people who have gained weight, so it's nice to hear that you've been able to maintain-it gives me hope. It's always good to hear both the good and bad. By the way you look fantastic and I love that dress. Continued success.

Veterans ONLY please. One year + post op.

I'm 20 months post op and love the idea of a restricted vets only forum. I remember, as a newbie, how excited I was when I read post from vets. I never responded,. I had nothing to add but it did give me an idea of what people further out then me were experiencing. At 20 months, I still get excited when I see post from vets-for the exact same reason. Except now I may offer advice/support-if asked.
  18. You have the correct mindset, avoid the carbs as much as possible. I was losing weight pretty well until my six month anniversary, this was around the time I got laxed and started adding back the carbs. I wish I had stayed away from carbs until I reached goal ( I am almost two years out and still haven't reached my personal goal). Carbs are my weakness. I recommend myfitnesspal to log your intake & also take pictures to see your progress. Best wishes

    Shira Taki noodles?

I buy Shirataki noodles all the time, I really like it and as others said, rinse, rinse, rinse. The texture is different, but I'm ok with it. My main go too "pasta replacement" is roasted spaghetti squash. I buy the frozen turkey meatballs from trader joes for a quick meal w/marinara sauce or pasta sauce(not a lot) and some Parm cheese & my spaghetti squash, viola! Spaghetti and meatballs

Weight gain at 3 Years Post Op - WHAT TO DO?

I'm almost two years out & have never reached goal. I've weighed the same for the last 7 months, give or take a few ounces. I have started to accept that this may be it, but very happy with how I look in clothes. Reading this post has ignited the fear of regain. I have an appt. with my surgeon in a few months & I'm going to request to have my metabolism re-tested. curious to see if it's changed from pre-op. Wishing all of us who are struggling victory. Let's never give up!

I got my RMR tested today!

I had the test done preop and was told my rmr was about 1600. I can't wait to get retested to see where it's at now. I have my appt. in June. Thanks for sharing.

    Confused about protein

I had my surgery in Oct of 2014 as well and I also need to lose 20 lbs. I was instructed to eat no less then 80grams of protein but preferably 100. Having said that, this is what MY team recommends. A quick call to your nutritionist should answer that question for you, let them know what your trainer recommends & see what they say. Let me also add, I normally get 100grams without any problems but I have only lost 1 lb since November, so that clearly isn't my issue. I'm still trying to figure it out what to do.
