good luck tomorrow! Praying all goes well! -
Did you use sick time or short term disability?
Kathy812 replied to Kathy812's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone! I have plenty sick time so I'll use that. Just verified w/HR sick time can be used. They mentioned I can protect my sick days under FMLA so it is not used against me (this was probably what my doctor was referring to). -
I'm on my preop diet now. Surgery October 17. I have two protein shakes a day and for dinner, lean protein(chicken, fish, or turkey) and veggies or salad. I have tried: muscle milk -chocolate, very good as well as the strawberry and cream flavor ( They are my favorite) Unjury -chicken soup , it was good, but I had a bit of an aftertaste. Vanilla was good, mixed it in my blender Premier- vanilla, good I bought some sugar-free syrup to mix in my vanilla flavored protein drink but I haven't tried them yet.

@@chellede thank you for the words of encouragement. And a HUGE thank you for taking the time to compile everyone's dates & the various protein drinks! You're the best! -
@@Vsglady I'm going to try that flavor too, thanks. And I will focus on my family & not the food they are eating tomorrow! I always hear that days 1&2 are the hardest. I totally didn't think that through by planning family day tomorrow.

@@dark n lovely, I haven't had my surgery yet. I have it in two weeks but trying to get prepared. What do you mean by clear protein shakes? Can you share a few brands? -
Okay, I'm going to assume all of my typos are due to my lightheadedness from not eating. Now I wrote hopes instead of oops ........or maybe I should just stop multitasking
-
Hopes, I spelled weak wrong.

@@Vsglady well today is day one. I'll be honest, I had a moment this afternoon when I felt a little week and unsteady. it is almost 7 PM and I'm doing okay. Better than I thought I would. I've only had two protein shakes so far. The first one was Vanilla Premier protein. It was actually okay (had it over ice & drank slowly). My lunchtime protein was the chocolate by muscle milk, which I liked better. No withdrawal (caffeine) headaches. Let's see what day two brings. I also have some Unjury protein powder, will probably try that tomorrow.

@@sportymommy95 we have the same date, 10/17! Congrats to you! I went today for the last of my pre-op test ( stress test). My cardiologist said he would send the approval letter. Yay me! I start the liver reduction diet on Friday. Started buying the things I'll need while in the hospital & after, including some sample packs of protein drinks. -
You've joined the right online support group. most people here are very encouraging. The important thing is to get support online & in person. I haven't had my surgery yet, so I can't really offer much advice. But I'm sure you already know what to do, application is key. Best of look to you on this journey. I'm betting You'll do just fine.

@@traveler60 Best wishes on your surgery. Bring a book that you enjoy, if you like reading, sleep. Just do something to distract yourself. I agree flying is miserable but if you keep yourself busy hopefully the time will fly.

Call your surgeons office to confirm but I have not heard of one person who was able to drive them self home. Just left my preop.appt & Dr was clear that needed a ride home

Lainie my surgery is scheduled for Oct 17th. Strange that someone brought up the shots. I just watched my pre-op video a few days ago & to my surprise they instructed me on how to GIVE MYSELF the shots. 3 per day for two weeks! freeked me out a bit & as fedup mentioned, it is to prevent blood clots. Fedup how are you doing?

@@LainieG I ordered syntrax nectar sample packs $19.99. Haven't tried it yet. But I've seen it recommended on several threads.
