October 2014 sleevers check in please!
Kathy812 replied to Jen - a work in progress's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@slareau I'm drinking Syntrax nectar lemonade flavor. I add a little bit of the crystal light fruit punch to it. Delish. I had a sample packet & added 12 ounces of Water. it was the right consistency for me, you can tweak the water according to your taste.I think it has 21 g of Protein and it's a nice switch from the milky Protein drinks. I also drink Premier Protein, vanilla flavored, I add to torani sugar-free flavored syrup to it ( Carmel or Irish cream). -

Can anyone give suggestions as to what to add to my yogurt to make it more flavorful? I'm not allowed any fruit in my yogurt, so trying to find something to make it a little more tasty. Thanks -

@@bookgirl1972 I had my surgery a few days before you October 17. I am now on stage 2. I'm allowed cream of wheat, oatmeal, eggs, ricotta cheese, yogurt, beans, mashed potatoes and 3 ounces of meat ( chicken, turkey, and fish only-inc. can tuna and chicken) also a few veggies. I've been adding a pack of Unjury unflavored protein to my decaf coffee in the morning so I start my day off with 21 g of protein. I read where someone said to add vanilla protein to my coffee, Will try that tomorrow. Really strange putting my coffee in a blender but that's the best way to make sure the protein blends well. My doctor allowed me to choose when I wanted to return to work, I chose three weeks but honestly I'm getting a bit bored. Using the time to plan a menu because when I return to work I will be on stage III -
@@#9grammy I agree w/candidate. I couldn't communicate the first three days. Hang in there, my first week was difficult.i am in week two & feel so much better. Has anyone talked to vsglady? I haven't heard from her since her surgery, a little concerned.

@@The Candidate thank you. But let me keep it in perspective. I lost 15 in the preop & 10 post sugery but at the end of the day 25 is 25!! So I am happy.

@@lovelytrl, can't really offer any words of advice but I can tell you you're not in this alone. I'm having the same thing I a lot head hunger, especially, since in the last week I've been around people eating some of my favorites. On a good note, I found a recipe on this site that was delish. Cottage cheese in a processor, pureed till creamy, a little cinnamon & splash of vanilla extract w/ one packet of sweeter. So good, doesn't sound good but trust me it was. I also had corned beef hash in the food processor, looks awful but also tasty. Hang in there, it will get better. We'll get through it together. -
Haven't found one that I like yet by syntrax nectsar. Everyone was raving over them so I bought a sample pack. tried two flavors that were just ok, guess I'll try the rest. Hopefully ONE will work for me

@@Kimberly_R I just started this stage today. I had half of an egg w/fat free cheese. Quite a few people mentioned that the pinto beans w/cheese from Taco Bell w/mild sauce is pretty tasty & ricotta bake from eggface got great reviews too. Actually. You can google "puréed foods, eggface "for other suggestions -
Hey guys, to answer your question about mushies, it's not as bad as it sounds. Today I had one soft scrambled egg. I only ate 5 bites but it was so good to chew. Other options are cottage cheese, yogurt, and even meat but it should be ground in a food processor. Sounds really gross but someone told me to use a rotisserie chicken with chicken broth and it's pretty tasty. I'm going to try not to concentrate on the" look". it was also recommended that I try the FRUIT baby food only, They said it's surprisingly good. Creamed soups are also inc in mushies. Still researching it . I'm going to check the popular recipe blog from eggface for suggestions. Have a great weekend everyone.

@@rmspencer great job in weight loss, I lost the same amount as you today! I started on mushies this morning, trying to eat one egg, only ate 5 bites. Went down ok but did give me a little belly discomfort but feels so good to chew! -

@@LainieG,@@The Candidate Hey ladies, Lainie glad you posted, I just asked you a couple days ago what was next on your list, so. Thanks for the update. Wishing you continued good news, also Gld to hear your cousin is okay. So I went today from my one week postop and I lost 7.2 pounds. I'll take it. Like I said on another thread, I celebrate every pound. Tomorrow, I start on the mushies.. Looking forward to being able to chew seems like it's been forever. candidate, it's really strange but the pain was better on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Wednesday afternoon I had company and went down to the basement for something.( we live in a ranch style house, so I haven't had to do stairs) when I came back upstairs,, I was a different person. I have been extremely exhausted since . today I had very bad abdominal pain. My nutritionist & nurse said that I need to take in more water & what I'm experiencing is very common. There will be good days and bad days. hoping for a better day tomorrow. Thankfully, they allowed me to decide when I'd like to return to work , I asked for two more weeks ( total of three). But taking it one week at a time.

I'm not a huge fan of Fb but I will do what the majority decides. Seems like if the filters aren't set right, people can have access to our info, but I'll leave it to you Techy's to figure it out for us, if that's the route we go. Personally, Bariatricpal is my new Fb. Haven't really checked my Fb page in weeks! -

@@Lazy_Lizzy, liquids are not easy, you will feel like a fish in a fishbowl. Lol. Constantly drinking, walking & blowing into the spirometer (at least I have to do that) & to boot get THREE SHOTS OF HEPRIN A DAY...OUCH! (Dr said he recommends this for all patients to prevent blood clots). So I feel your pain. Recording my drinks helps to keep me in line. I'm also allowed soups like cream of mushroom, tomato & squash soup. I also put some unflavored protein powder by Unjury in my decaf coffee, surprisingly good. Good luck -
@@LaneiNay Hi and welcome to the forum! I am from the south suburbs of Chicago and just got sleeved October 17. The two-week liquid diet is difficult. I will not sugarcoat it. I was instructed to have two protein shakes and one meal which consisted of 3 ounces of meat and vegetables. I was starving ! So I admit, I would have salad for lunch w/just a couple tablespoons of salad dressing. This helped to hold me till dinner. I also snacked on carrot sticks. I had a hard time drinking sweets all day. My surgeon told me that my liver was a little larger than he wanted it to be, but thankfully he was still able to perform the surgery. I have to ask myself did having salads contribute to to that.... Answer: you betcha! so the takeaway is to follow the plan, stay busy & hopefully you will be one of the lucky one's who has no problems w/the liquids. Best of luck.

Did you use sick time or short term disability?
Kathy812 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everyone, I have my surgery in two weeks and plan on taking sick time. I have over 200 sick days available. The other day, while at my pre-op visit, my surgeon asked if I was completing my FMLA forms. I didn't know what he meant by that. When I asked him if I had to, he said he wasn't sure, Told me to check with my HR department-obviously every company is different. Was this surgery not covered as sick time for you guys? Did you have to use short-term disability? One of my friends at work mentioned she thought of having plastic surgery but she was told by HR since it was an elective surgery, time off it wouldn't be paid. I tried calling my HR department earlier this week but kept getting transferred. Will try again this week but in the meantime just looking for feedback. Thank you
