My doctor is extremely cautious. He said most complications from this surgery is related to blood clots. So the shots were preventative. Personally, I felt it was a bit much. Eating is going really well. I never got sick from anything I ate. I have had a few things that were uncomfortable (deli meat surprisingly & fish) seems like certain fish are difficult - not all. I lost 17 lbs post op & 15 preop. I was told by others on this forum most people lose 20 the first month & approximately 10 the following months. Not sure how accurate this is. I have my two month f/u tomorrow, so I'll ask my surgeon.

@@Grandma2tweeties, I returned to work today and I am feeling really good. I told some of my friends that this past weekend was probably the first time I felt no pain. The first two weeks were really painful, but I should add that when I was released, I was instructed to give myself HEPRIN shots 3x a day. This added to my pain level. However, by the second week, the pain lessened each day. I have not joined a support group yet. However, my bariatric center does have one.and I do plan on attending in December.

@@onmywaytoonederland welcome to our group! Three more week, it'll be here before you know it, congratulation! . I was sleeved almost 4 weeks ago and despite my difficulties early on, I have never had one day regret.

@@beachgal2935, first of all, very sorry for your loss. To answer your question about the sleep study. I took a machine home too. it was fairly simple, The best way to describe the device-it was like a headband and attached to it werenasal cannulas that went into each nostril. somehow it measured how many times I stopped breathing through the night. The next day I returned it and several days later I got a call & was told I needed to come in for a sleep study because the results showed that I had severe apnea! I do currently use a CPAP machine and it's not bad at all. I also had a colonoscopy, the worst part was drinking the awful liquid citrate the day before the procedure. The actual procedure was painless. They give you a twilight sedation so you are not awake, You apparently have busy days ahead. Keep us posted.

@@Grandma2tweeties, you just joined. All you have to do is click follow this thread at the top and anytime anyone post something you'll get a notification. Welcome to our group and happy early birthday.! If I may recommend a good read to all of the newbies or anyone who recently joined, please read the blog from Queen of Crop (She posted on the page, 32, sorry I'm not Techy's enough to add her link) it is enlightning, voyeuristic (in a good way) and helps you to feel secure in the decision to go through this surgery, It reads like none other.

A little scared this has been pretty easy for me.
Kathy812 replied to llmccay1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@llmccay1, I can actually relate. Most things go down w/no problems ( I had a problem w/fish only-just felt uncomfortable going down) but I can eat quite a bit as well. I make a conscious effort to stop when I've reached my allowance. I was hoping that I would be one of those people who felt full after 2 bites but unfortunately, not so. As we know, this surgery is not a cure, it's something we're going to have to work at on a daily basis. -

@@Jen, that is fantastic! 20lbs/2weeks, great job. I could not imagine getting 80 to 90 g of proteins. I'm supposed to get 60-80g a day and I typically fall in the lower range (60-65) & I pat myself on the back when I make 60! Hope the weight continues to fall off for you. -

@@slareau I wanna say I'm Ina stall but truthfully, my weight lost hasn't been fast at all (other than my first week) First week I lost over 8lbs week two- 4 week three -2 I am three days into my fourth week, lost1 lb today,so we'll see if I lose anymore by Friday( my weigh in date). I'm clearly showing a trend of slowing down. I'm really not worried about it to be honest. I read so much about the stalls prior to the surgery that I am mentally prepared. Now if it last longer than three weeks, I might be singing a different tune. -

[quote name="KarenF1972" What are you all eating for meals these days? Just started softs today so trying to figure out my menu. Today I had half a scrambled egg & 1 sliced Canadian bacon, lunch was 2 whole grain crackers w/crab dip-that was tasty. Had jerk fish & cabbage for dinner, the fish did not sit well in my baby belly. I plan on making stuffed peppers this week & a recipe I found from the world according to eggface, blog & prob pick up a rotisirie chicken. hopefully those will last me all week for dinner, will just rotate meals. -

@@jstrong630, you did not make a huge mistake, it is still early, six months from now, you will be posting on BP that this was the best decision you've made! Give it time. I started on softs today , had fish for dinner, kinda hurt going down, so will not try that again for a few weeks or maybe I'll try a different fish. Lunch went down with no problem , I had whole grain crackers (2) & crab dip from trader joe's (2ounces) felt full for a while & finally ate something I enjoyed. -

What's for breakfast?
Kathy812 replied to tamg26k's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
For those of you adding protein in your oatmeal, are you just mixing it in your oatmeal w/ your spoon or are you putting the oatmeal & protein in a blender? I tried adding protein to my cream of wheat and it was a lumpy mess.
