African American vsgers!
Kathy812 replied to theshrinkingdutchess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@brighteyes64, congrats on getting sleeved! I've heard lots of people mention genepro protein powder, it's supposed to be flavorless & full of protein. Maybe you can use it in broths or add it to crystal lite. Check w/your doctor first to see if it's recommended. I didn't hear about it until after I was in phase IV (regular food). So I personally never tried it. Good luck. It gets easier. -
Love the bars, cookies & cream & the choc chip are my two fav' s. My nutritionist actually recommended the bars. Low in suger and high in protein. Win-win.

Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!
Kathy812 replied to Marielbx's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@AgentShepard, you are doing incredibly well. Very happy for you. Did your surgeons give you a goal weight? -
@@allyray , I had to drink while I ate, so giving up drinking was really, really scary to me. Surprisingly, I had no problems. I stop drinking 15 min. before I eat & drink 30 min. after. The first month after your surgery you may only have a desire to sip, rarely have I heard this to be an issue. I've seldom heard of anyone having problems sipping early on. You'll do fine.

@@BA-Fan, welcome to bariatric pal! You've joined a great support group. First of all let me compliment you on taking the first step in making the best decision of your life. Because, I truly believe for those of us who have lost & gained weight repeatedly, this surgery is truly a gift. A chance at a better quality of life. I am so sorry your wife is not supportive, if you have this surgery, it's iimportant to have a support team. Have you ever thought of counseling with your wife? Maybe she's just scared if you lose the weight you may leave her, or she's scared something may happen during surgery ( which by the way, the risks are very low). Whatever the reason, I hope you guys can work through it. I won't tell you to have the surgery, because it's a personal decision. But I will tell you that you'll find hundreds of people on this site who will tell you we have no regrets and you have our support. Wishing you the best.

Chewable Calcium Citrate question
Kathy812 replied to suitechicguy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take Wellese calcium in liquid (Walmart) citrus flavor, not bad. I also take a chewable multivitamin by Celebrate, strawberry/pineapple flavor OR I take the Orange chewable by celebrate (my new favorite). Good luck with your upcoming surgery. It's the best decision I've made in a long time! No regrets. -

Kathy812 replied to Healthy_life2's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I feel my weight loss is slower than most. Lost 15lb's (2 week pre-op diet) & averaging 10 per month post- op, Sleeved 10/17. To be honest, I'm horrible w/exercise. Only working out 1 or 2 days a week. If I can do 3 days consistently, I might gain some momentum. You are my inspiration. -

Looking to do a Chicago suburbs meet up for VSG
Kathy812 replied to donnascell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would love to meet up! I had my surgery October 2014 but I live in the south Suburbs,. I'm not opposed to driving a bit but it depends how far. -
@@LisaGB, welcome Lisa! I had my surgery almost three months ago and it is truly one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. Wishing you success with yours. As far as protein powders. I tried quite a few. The one I preferred the most was Unjury(vanilla). However,my favorite was the rtd's(ready to drink ) protein shakes by Premier. I drank the vanilla flavor, I didn't care for the chocolate, but obviously it a matter of personal preference. On this thread someone mentioned a protein powder that had no aftertaste and I believe it is unflavored. Quite a few people on BP highly recommend it. Sorry, I don't recall the name of it, hopefully someone else in this group can help. Feel free to ask questions .
